Strain: Tropic Orange [Tropicana Cookies♀️x Sour Orange (Sour Diesel x African Orange)♂️] Sativa Dominant
Breeder: Equilibrium Genetics
Location Grown: Los Angeles, California
Latitude: 34°03′00.00″ North
Started: May 9, 2024
DAY 1
Starting new seed variant from Equilibrium Genetics on May 09, 2024. GD site didn't have the strain option yet so I put super sour orange, but it's actually Tropic Orange. A cross between Tropicanna Cookies and Sour Orange (Sour Diesel x African Orange)
The seed pack brought 24 regular seeds. I'm growing 8 this time around. I placed the seeds in water for 14 hours and then transferred to moist paper towel. I used the water that I placed the seeds in to moisten the paper towels thoroughly and covered the moist towel with a plastic zip-lock bag to hold in the moisture. I will be keeping track of total seedlings (T.O.1, T.O.2,...) and identifying the females later in the season.
DAY 2
These seeds really want to grow - they popped open and rooted in a little over 24 hours. I transferred 6 roots to Fox Farms Happy Frog soil in 4" containers on Day 2.
DAY 3
The last 2 beans popped open. 8/8 seeds successfully germinated and placed in 4" plastic containers with Fox Farms Happy Frog soil. I recommend the water to paper towel technique for germinating Equilibrium Genetics seeds. I will start the vegetative weeks once I see the first set of leaves or at least some above ground action for all the plants. I am tracking the grow days for the plants starting from when I placed the seeds in the water.
DAY 4
First plants to break ground labeled T.O.2, T.O.3, T.O.4, T.O.5, and T.O.6
DAY 5
Seed labeled T.O.1 sprouted overnight. Still waiting on the last 2 (T.O.7, T.O.8) to break ground.
DAY 6
Everything good. I think an insect or bug of some sort was eating the seedling labeled T.O.3 . I propped it up and placed some soil around the base, but I think this one might have already met it's end. I will place some metal around the pots tonight to ward off possible predators. The seeds are good -- Just things that happen when growing outdoors.
DAY 7
Slugs are the culprits. They ate 2 of the seedlings. Will pop 6 more next week to make up the difference. Grow Diary will continue to veg week 1. Still early in the grow season.
DAY 9
Finished germinating 7 more seeds. Did not plan on staggering, but the season called for it
Results 15/15 seeds germinated
Thanks EQ genetics! These seeds are Poppin!
