Indoor grow tent (4x2) air in desert climate questions

SpiderJar

I live in a hot and dry desert climate. Tent is around 81F in the day and 65 at night. Is this temp drop a big problem? I have a small heater I can use at night pointed at the tent if necessary. Humidity also a problem (38 in tent) but I am trying to bump it up with a humidifier.

Hey there, I also grow in a semi (ha ha, some say desert) arid climate. I use grow cabinets, in dry ambient room humidity levels. During the early stages of veg, my levels were always around 25-30%. This did not seem to affect growth rate. After the plants get big, and more water is used, transpiration (evap of fabric pots as well) added 10% more humidity. Unless the seed developer recommends a certain humidity range, it really isn't an issue to me. As far as temp ranges go, I have gone from 80F to 65F, consistently with no issues, with all of my strains. Some pundits say, no more then a 20 degree diff, between high/low. OF course some strains stop growing at certain low temps, so research your strain, and some grow tips for them.

Hi @SpiderJar the ideal temperature for cannabis is between 65F-82F, anything below or above it impairs the plant's metabolism. according to your description the temperature is within the limits but it is a very large temperature variation, of course it is not good for the plants, it ends up delaying them. you can put the heater at night. to have a well controlled climate of your grow on aliexpress they sell good humidity controllers for the humidifier and temperature controllers for the heater for 10 $ -12 $,You program the desired temperature and humidity. good luck mate šŸ‘

Howdy, howdy. The little heater may come in handy, but 65 isn't a bad temp to run at night, especially when in flower. Same goes with the RH. 38% in Veg may be too low, but in flower this won't/shouldn't cause any issues at all. Hanging a wet towel for makeshift humidity can help increase your numbers faster, too, if you find the low humidity is causing issues. Really though, it all looks good and naturally lowering temperatures in Bloom is normal. Good luck with the battle. I live in very cold temperatures but have the same RH issues. The air is sucked dry of any moisture and needs to be supplemented. So, I hear yašŸ‘. Cheers and happy trails

I live near the northern end of a desert area and sometime depending on conditions humidity can really play hell depending on what stage of the grow. I use a reptile heater to warm a tent they plug into any light socket and give a nice safe heat. Problem is this makes the humidity lower šŸ˜³ 38 is not a huge problem I start seeing problems around 20% in flower, veg of course is different. Careful with the humidifier easy to make mold problems but you will be fine long as you keep things 50-ish% which seems to be the sweet spot. They look well just keep an eye out and make small changes

Hello friend good question. Iā€™ve heard that the plants donā€™t like big swings in the temperature. Your day temp is good but nite time temp is low. Humidity is good for vegging them. Good luck. šŸ€
