Tips for fighting sciarid gnats?

RickSanchez

One of my plants became the victim of some sciarid gnats. As you can see in the pictures, I secured the soil, of all plants, so the sciarid gnats are not longer able to breed there. Is this enough or do I have to do more? Any tips? Thank you guys! 🙂

Yellow sticky traps, a very light spray of hydrogen peroxide 3% on the top soil/rocks. VERY LIGHTLY Most bugs hate the smell and taste and can't live around it. Your just trying to cover the surface

That looks good for the breeding part—- but make sure you are implementing an IPM foliar spray safe for flower—- otherwise it just a repeating cycle. Good luck ✌️🏻💚🌿💨

No sure about the gnats, (however they usually like it when things are too moist constantly), but that black wire in pic one (on the right) looks quite tight. If it is too tight, it can "strangle" the branch and kill the branch in the process. Big loose loops are the go. Soft rubber covered wire is good, as is wide tape. Cheers, Organoman.

You should be OK now. Those yellow traps will catch what's left.
