Shall I Start Over? XS2000 60%@26”

Should I start this one over? I find that it is too tall. I am going by my lights (XS2000) instructions but I find contradictions everywhere I turn when looking for proper distances, ppfd values, etc. Some run these lights closer to their plants at 100% the entire time. 😳

I'd let them go. As Dr. Green Thumb says, get some fan on her which will thicken the stem and get it strong enough to support itself. I have had a few that come out super tall and end up falling over as the second set of leaves come out, but they pull themselves up as they grow. For the PPFD, this is something I've been trying to fine tune. It's hard to to judge by brightness as plants don't see light like we do. I am using an app on my phone (I think I paid a few bucks for it), its called ‎LightSpectrum Pro and I am fairly confident that its accurate. I have not tested this against a proper spectrometer but I checked my mars hydro TS 1000 and the PPFD value was within 200 umol of what the manufacture reported. I had the same results against my new spider farmer light. Long story short it gives a good gauge on what the plant is seeing better than judging this based on our eyes alone. It also gives you a relative idea of how much the intensity changes with just one inch difference, I was surprised. For seedlings, you want a PPFD around 100 - 200 for seedling / clones, up to 550 for veg and up to 800 for flowering. Some research shows plants can take up to 1,500 umol in flower, but this is with supplemental CO2. From my experience, I have found the best success in keeping things relatively consistent from start to finish, not making major changes. If you start your plants out at 24 inches away at 100%, and have it down to 18 inches by week 3 (as the plant grows up) and then 12 inches by flowering, you should not have any significant light issues. Goodluck!

I think your plant is still at an OK height. I would increase the lighting intensity. Either lower your light or turn up it's power. The spectrum of the grow light also has an affect. Years ago I used burple lights and had a lot more stretch during veg even with high light intensity. I had to get the lights dangerously close to keep plants shorter. When I switched to white HLG lights (R-spec) I get dramatically less stretching with less light intensity.

Use smaller lights for starting off plants So you can keep the light closer to the plant and put a fan on it

I’d keep going, have a fan to blow on it to help strengthen it up and I’ve seen plenty of growers either bury the stem a bit or just wait for it to thicken up which it will. Either way it looks good so far!

I have a fan running just above her where she gets a the slightest bit of the breeze where she isn't shaking all over the place. I had tried placing it so she was a bit more in the path of the breeze but she started to bend over which prompted me to raise it again. Light at the moment is at 60%, Photone app is reporting about 380-400 PPFD at her top (everything I've read states they require much lower). Should I lower the light as to increase par or do you think I should leave as is. In addition I have another plant growing next to her a day younger.

Hello Fishscale yes your baby us stretching a bit too much and it is because your light is not enough closer. Reduce the distance between your light and your plant . leave your hand under the light just beside your baby during 2 minutes and uf it is too warm increase the distance. It is a tip to know if you are too close or not. The plant is stretching because it search the light. So in general a distance between 35-50 cm is recommanded. Good luck. Bye

It's fine you can bury the stem later. Put a breeze on her. Gl the rest of the way.
