With that defoliation -- which I would slow down on for a bit -- you might not need to top. Try (gently!) staking down the plant after reading the LST tutorial on GrowWeedEasy.
All of those little nodes now getting light instead of under leaves are much more likely to make larger, stronger branches... which is what you're looking for, a squat bushy structure.
