Introduction - Week 27|20 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 9685.98, A pretty simple dry week! Not much to do but wait! Been pretty warm in the dry tent but nothing I can do. Regardless, buds are drying along very nicely! Ooo yea! Also got some Zaza genetics for the seed collection! Plan to eventually incorporated these into my first breeding project. But one impossible task at a time. Back in the 3x3 tent, did a pretty heavy defoliation and lollipopping before top dressed all fabric pots. Also raised the grow light up a bit. This week was mainly tending to the veg tent and been trying to increase the soil moisture averages. By the end of the week, growth really started to ramp up! Plan to end this log soon. But plan to continue on in the next one! Keep growing forward Ensign! Onwards to next week! [START OF WEEK 27|20] ========================================================== Garlic Budder #1 - WEEK 27|20 - Dry Wk1 Garlic Budder #2 - WEEK 27|20 - Dry Wk1 Garlic Budder #3 - WEEK 20 - Full Veg Garlic Budder #4 - WEEK 19 - Dry Wk1 09/02/24 → 09/08/24 This Week's Estimated Goals ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DLI: ~0 mol/m²/d PPFD: ~0 μmol/m²/s VPD: ~1.2 kPa This Week's Meter Readings & Averages [Lights On: 16:00 - 10:00] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DLI: 0.00 mol/m²/d PPFD: 000 μmol/m²/s VPD: 1.32 kPa Soil %: [32.9, 31.0, 40.3, 33.9] ========================================================== Day 01 - Monday - 09/02/24 - Total Days: 189 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 83.3°F [28.5°C] - Humidity: 67.9% - VPD: 1.23 kPa - Soil %: [33, 31, 40, 28] ----------------------------------- - [19:02]: Night check on the 4x4 drying tent. --- Ooo yea! Day 6 in the dry tent wow these plants look incredible! --- No mold and the buds are looking beautiful! --- Can already tell that the wet trim really is going to make the dry trim a lot easier! --- Absolutely stoked for the final weights! - [19:10]: Checked on #3 and the vegging clones in the 3x3 tent, --- Growth is looking out of control! --- Top is still a bit light or heat burned, but the rest of the growth is perky and green! --- They’re getting too close to the light! Need to top, but not quite yet. --- Might super-crop? --- Hmm. --- Oops! Swapped out the battery for a soil sensor. The replacement is low but will have to do. - [19:11]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 33% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] - Null --- 31% - [CH02 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] - Null --- 39% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 25% - [CH04 G01 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- 40% - [CH05 FPT - Garlic Budder #1] --- 32% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2] --- 34% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- 36% - [CH08 G01 - Garlic Budder #2] - [19:31]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [19:55]: Repeated this process again for the original #2 pheno. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [20:01]: Decided to also super crop the top canopy. --- Using my fingers, I gently bent the tops of all branches above a certain height. --- Tried to lower the canopy by a good 4-6 inches. --- Plan to top soon nays, but need to stretch out the veg growth a bit longer. - [20:16]: Using premixed CalMag water (1/4tsp of Lotus Cal/Mag to 1 gal distilled water), filled a pump sprayer with 1 cup. ------ Added a pinch of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto the original #1’s straw mulch. --- Focused on wetting the straw as evenly as possible. - [20:25]: Took the total weight of the original #2 pheno. --- She weighed 294.4g --- It’s been 2 days since her last watering. --- Time to water! --- While on a scale, --- Gently misted her straw mulch with distilled water. --- Tried to keep the top growth dry. --- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again. - [20:35]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed 361.7g --- There was no runoff. --- Marked the watering date on the side of the cup. --- Placed her back into the tent. - [20:40]: Also watered both original #1 phenos. --- Tried to keep the saturated weight around 325-330g - [20:46]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. Day 02 - Tuesday - 09/03/24 - Total Days: 190 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 83.7°F [28.7°C] - Humidity: 68.1% - VPD: 1.25 kPa - Soil %: [33, 31, 39, 40] ----------------------------------- - [20:06]: Night check on the 4x4 drying tent. --- Looking great! --- No signs of mold and sugar leaves are all pretty much crispy dry. --- Humidity levels look good --- Stems are not snapping yet which is good. Trying to go for a slow dry. --- Day 7 for drying which is about the halfway point. Could be a few days less or more. - [20:15]: Checked on #3 and the vegging clones in the 3x3 tent, --- Wow! All tops are all back to pointing straight up towards the light! --- Signs of what I think is heat stress caused by the light are still present, but most of the growth is nice and green! --- Still plan to top once more anyways. The damaged growth will be topped so not worried about the damage. - [20:17]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 33% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] - Null --- 31% - [CH02 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] - Null --- 39% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 39% - [CH04 FPT - G01 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- 36% - [CH05 FPT - Garlic Budder #1] --- 30% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2] --- 35% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- 34% - [CH08 G01 - Garlic Budder #2] - [20:23]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto the original #2’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. --- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering. - [20:29]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. Day 03 - Wednesday - 09/04/24 - Total Days: 191 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 83.6°F [28.7°C] - Humidity: 68.3% - VPD: 1.23 kPa - Soil %: [33, 31, 38, 33] ----------------------------------- - [22:09]: Ah yea! --- Got more genetics for the toolbox! --- Ordered more beans for the seed vault! --- Got some ‘Dead Ops OG’ from ‘Zaza Genetics!’ --- These are my first regular seeds and received 13 viable seeds! --- The pack had 14 seeds, but one seed was cracked. --- As an aspiring breeder, I eventually plan to cross and stabilize my own genetics. --- So been learning a lot from both Za (Zaza Genetics) and Rasta Jeff (Irie Genetics). --- Like every great hobby, there are many levels. --- Well breeding is definitely on another level! --- Been learning as much as I can about Punnett squares, filial breeding, backcrossing, reversals, and selfing plants. --- Also the process of creating a stable genetic in-bred line with true heterosis has been a mind opener. --- Also learning the importance of F1 and F2 generations as breeding stock for pheno hunts. Apparently the F1 generation is the only generation where heterosis and genetic vigor can be found. As for the F2 generation, these are where the recessive traits are opened up. --- Similar to cannabis growing, natural agriculture can be referenced for cannabis breeding. The selective breeding process is similar to corn and even dogs. --- Learning about breeding has become my new obsession and feels like learning about growing all over again! --- Breeding is life goal so this is obviously going to be a process. One impossible task at a time Ensign. --- Okay! --- Anyways, - [22:38]: Night check on the 4x4 drying tent. --- Looking good! Still no mold! --- Day 8 and looking frosty! --- The grassy chlorophyll odor is also starting to subside. Nice! --- Plan to start daily stem snap checks soon. --- Trim day is getting close! - [22:42]: Checked on #3 and the vegging clones in the 3x3 tent, --- Ooo wow! --- Okay! The veg tent is definitely out of control! --- Wow! Growth has exploded! - [22:52]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 33% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] - Null --- 31% - [CH02 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] - Null --- 38% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 29% - [CH04 G01 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- 30% - [CH05 FPT - Garlic Budder #1] --- 31% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2] --- 31% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- 33% - [CH08 G01 - Garlic Budder #2] --- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering. --- Since I plan to top and top dress tomorrow, going to hold off on watering. - [22:55]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. Day 04 - Thursday - 09/05/24 - Total Days: 192 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 85.4°F [29.7°C] - Humidity: 66.8% - VPD: 1.37 kPa - Soil %: [33, 31, 40, 31] ----------------------------------- - [17:00]: Evening check on the 4x4 drying tent. --- Day 9! --- Buds are still frosty and looking mold free! --- Drying along and looking great! - [17:06]: Checked on #3 and the vegging clones in the 3x3 tent, --- Ooo yea! --- Wow these ladies are raging! --- Growth is getting out of control and the canopy is getting thick! Absolutely incredible! --- Wow! #4, #1, and the original #2 phenos have reached the light and seem a lot healthier. - [17:08]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 32% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] - Null --- 31% - [CH02 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] - Null --- 37% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 28% - [CH04 G01 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- 27% - [CH05 FPT - Garlic Budder #1] --- 26% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2] --- 30% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- 33% - [CH08 G01 - Garlic Budder #2] --- Okay! Time to top and chop! --- Since this is going be the last topping before flipping to flower (I think), going a bit heavy on this one. - [17:12]: Using a clean pair of trimmers, --- Cut all top growth down a good 10-12 inches. --- Also defoliated and lollipopped the lower growth. --- Mulched the trimmings onto the EarthBoxes in the 4x4 tent. - [18:14]: In preparation for the next cycle, going to top dress all the larger plants now. Going very simple. --- For all four fabric pots, ------ Added 1/2 cup of BuildASoil Craft Blend ------ Added 1 cup of BuildASoil Worm Castings --- Using my fingers, gently tilled the top dress into the straw mulch. --- Time to water! - [18:37]: Filled a pump sprayer with 5 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [19:02]: Repeated this process again for #1 and the original #2 pheno. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [19:05]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #3’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. --- Going to also water both 1 gallon pots. Day 05 - Friday - 09/06/24 - Total Days: 193 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 86.3°F [30.2°C] - Humidity: 68.3% - VPD: 1.34 kPa - Soil %: [33, 31, 44, 39] ----------------------------------- - [21:20]: Night check on the 4x4 drying tent. --- Buds are looking nice and still no sign of mold! --- Day 10 and still looking great! - [21:36]: Checked on #3 and the vegging clones in the 3x3 tent, --- Nice! Looking good ladies! --- Growth is recovering from the topping and defoliation, but wow! For the most part, growth is perky! - [21:38]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 33% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] - Null --- 31% - [CH02 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] - Null --- 42% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 37% - [CH04 G01 - Original Garlic Budder #1] --- 33% - [CH05 FPT - Garlic Budder #1] --- 35% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2] --- 32% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- 42% - [CH08 G01 - Garlic Budder #2] --- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering. - [21:49]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [22:06]: Repeated this process again for the #1 pheno. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [22:07]: Decided to raise the light up even further. --- Raised it as high as I could. --- Without removing the propagation dome, the light is now at the highest I can place it. --- Nice! The garden now looks a lot better. Need to get a second fan for above canopy circulation. - [22:15]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed. Day 06 - Saturday - 09/07/24 - Total Days: 194 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 86.7°F [30.4°C] - Humidity: 68.1% - VPD: 1.36 kPa - Soil %: [33, 31, 41, 35] ----------------------------------- - [20:05]: Night check on the 4x4 drying tent. --- Ooo yea! @gottagrowsometime, Thanks growmie! Yea, sometimes I can get a bit too detailed, but this is all just for fun! Been using Ac Infinity's Thermoforge T3 heater for just over 2 weeks and have to say that it's the best! Highly recommend! The unit easily heats a 4x4ft grow tent along with my 10x10ft lung room. Keep in mind that it never snows where I live, but it can get pretty cold in the winter (Southern California - US). What's most impressive is that in combination with the Cloudforge T7, my overall weekly VPD averages have been a lot more stable! Also the day to night temp swings have been greatly reduced (less than 10 degrees/percent difference on the weekly temps/RH averages).
