Danylo [DISCLAIMER]: For this run I decided to almost completely reuse the substrate from my last run, because I want to try and save a little time and money. My fertilization method works for inert media, so in the grand scheme of things it should be possible. Anyways... this adds some unknown variables. So while I give my best to ensure proper nutrition to the plants in each stage - it may very well be the case, that there will be some visible deficiencies or even the whole plant underperforming somewhat. If this happens please do not attribute these shortcomings to the strain/breeder.. If someone will be to blame, it is me! 8)
Just about every second run I throw in a CBD Strain. As I already liked the Charlotte's Angel from Dutch Passion a lot, CBD Mazar (Charlotte's Angel x Mazar) sounded new, as well as somewhat familiar at the same time! I initially wanted to try their THC Mazar so this strain hopefully satisfies my Mazar curiosity as well ;)
The seed was started using a 1% H2O2 soak for 18h and then planted directly into low nutrient soil. I used fresh soil for this step. The old substrate was very likely too high in salt content. All three of the seeds (the other two were one "Lemon Z" and one "Skunk#11") grew out of the soil very quickly and almost at the same time!

Danylo She had the chunkiest seed of the three, and as it turns out has very broad serrated leafs. I expect (hope for ;P) a very Indica-like structure!
They all grew really vigorously and could be transplanted to their intermediate (0.5L - 3.5L) pot this week.
Five-fingered Leafs are showing up, which means I can set the light-intensity to about 400-450 PPFD.

Danylo The main training method I use has the goal to create strong branch growth directly from the start. To facilitate this (at this stage) I remove basically all fan-leafs that grow on the main stem, as soon as they prevent direct light reaching the lateral branches. This makes the plant look a little pitiful at times, but they recover very quickly and (combined with high light-intensity) grow very bushy!
I took off fan leafs twice this week I think. Underdeveloped yellow-ish branches were lurking under those lush, large, healthy-green leafs every time! I always feel bad for putting the plant through this, but after a few days they always look quite a bit better than before!

Danylo In general she seems to stay very compact with tiny internodal spacing. Her lateral branches grow almost parallel to the ground.. which makes even watering a little annoying at this stage. Can't wait for this one to stretch itself out somewhat when we hit flower.
At the start of this week, despite being a little smaller than the others, she too had rooted through the 3.5L pot - so she got new shoes (size: 20L) like the others. And after letting her get some rest from the constant defoliation, she got some defoliation..
She recovered quickly from that. At the end of the week there were now enough total nodes so together with the other two, she got topped. I did not take AS much of the top as with the others though.

Danylo This weeks' goal was mostly getting all our ducks in a row, so we get a flying start into actual flower next week.
- Gradually reduce light from 18h to 12h.
- Defol on top
- Cleaning up the lower third and use the cuttings for some clones.
She is now significantly less tall than the other two so I had to prop her up a little.
I also had to remove two whole lateral branches because there just wasn't enough space.

Danylo So this will be the first week of her enjoying 12/12.
Not much to do right now but wait and hope flower stretch sorts out the bushyness somewhat. What I can already say is that she's the first to start actually smelling. And she ALREADY smells absolutely divine! Right now it's earthy-spicy-hashy with a little sweet fruit rounding it out. I think/hope we may be in for an amazing bouquet on this one!
Also while doing some maintenance defoliation my fingers actually started to stick together a little - haven't seen any plant do that this early.. And I'm just jacking stems atm. ;)
I'm also doubling the magnesium (Epsomite) dose for all three plants for 1-2 weeks. New growth always looks a little light, but subjectively it is a little TOO light at the moment. Magnesium is mobile within the plant so nothing bad should come out of this slight deficiency.
[Edit:] As I'm feeding nitrogen in the form of an 80/20 split (NO3/NH4), I'm also lowering ph for a while. (To counteract alkalization of the rhizosphere from NO3 uptake)

Danylo I'm super sorry for skipping week 6.. went to a concert and somehow aquired the flu there. Unfortunately the flu was only the second worst thing about that event.. the price and quality of the beer they were selling must have violated some of my human rights. 😥
PH problems resulting from reusing last runs substrate are almost fixed - plants are still a little too light green atm but they're getting better every day! Out of the three she unfortunately got hit the hardest by this, probably because she is smaller and drinks less than the others. There is no visible necrosis on the leafs yet, so she will hopefully recover completely.
We are actually in flower at this point. At this time I'd like to do some final defoliation but I'll wait a while longer because she is still recovering ph-nutrient-availability-wise.
Stretch is mostly through - so this is the first week I'm feeding "Shogun - Sumo Active Boost".
Smell is still super delicious! Out of all the CBD plants I have grown until now she has the most classical afghani/indica bouquet. Can't wait to actually try this one!

Danylo These pics are directly from the start of week 8 (today-ish) So maybe/possibly I'll update this post with more info and more pics later this week! :)
I just did the long overdue main lollipop/defoliation I usually do after flower stretch is mostly through. I really had to go IN THERE to remove larger leafs and whole branches. She grows very bushy, so everything that would have later grown into each other had to go. I had to touch budding parts of the plant a lot more than I would have liked for this... so I expect some angry discoloured pistils to appear in the next few days.
Some parts of the flowers and leafs appear to show a little bit of a darker hue! My last CBD Charlotte got very dark during flower and as this is simply a cross of Charlotte and Mazar I'm hopeful for something similar!
