Kali_flauer Hello, and welcome to my trial run at growing outdoors! I have just enough time to squeeze this grow in before I'm out of town for a few weeks, so I'm giving this a go even though I believe the setup will work much better in the summer.
I made my own Supercompost (vermicompost, to be specific) and I believe I correctly balanced everything for growing cannabis. I'm using fox farm as a top layer so I don't burn any young plants, and the only additional nutrients I plan to add is some Fox Farm Big Bloom in the flowering stage for some added PK 💪.
All 5 seeds sprouted within 48 hours of starting germination! I need to use this seedling mat more often! I started in a paper towel, but then remembered I bought Jiffy starter plugs and quickly switched the seeds over to those.
That is pretty much it for now. They are staying indoors for the first 5-7 days, but after that, they are going right outside now that it's staying pretty warm at night. See you all next week with them outside in their new home! Happy growing!
02/28/26 update, 5 days from germination and things are already a little rough 😅.
#1 sprouted with a really tight shellmet, you can see how damaged her cotyledons are and how tiny she is compared to the others. Unfortunately, after my last lesson with keeping a stunted plant, she's just going into a solo cup. She will forever stay tiny, but will hopefully survive and produce a little for me. In the same enclosure (but a different diary), I am going to replace her with an LSD-25 auto since they are supposed to do well outdoors.
In the words of the late Billy Mays, "But wait! There's more..."
I really messed up the transplants with #3 and #5. I straight up dropped #3 like a dumbass and she fell sideways into the hole I dug. The issue with #5 was less my fault, but likely hurt her nonetheless. None of the other seedlings had a taproot coming out the bottom of the plug, so I didn't expect #5 to, nor for it to be a full inch out of the bottom, and I smacked it around a bit until I saw it while pulling her out. I'll be lucky if those 2 do ok, but the rest should be fine. Apparently odd numbers are my curse.
Happy growing everyone 🌱

There's not too much to update on, both #3 and #5 seem to be fine, so my worries were likely for nothing. #4 seems to be the standout so far! Maybe she will end up being one of the faster strains? Only time will tell. #1 is still really not doing well, she hasn't seemed to grow at all in a week. I've tried about everything I can to help her calm down, but the stress of the bad shellmet plus anything else I might be unaware of clearly has done a number on her. I really, really dislike throwing out anything that's still alive, but I may just have to toss her if she doesn't somehow bounce back from this.
I think what I'm looking forward to the most with this grow is trying to figure out what strain each plant is based on appearance and aroma/terps. I'm not expecting anything crazy, but it would be cool to see a very clear phenotype show up in this mixed pack or the one I plan on running later this year.
Anyways, thanks for checking things out! Here's to hoping my home made Supercompost and 5-6 hours/ day of direct sun can make some real OG bud 💪
03/07/26 - Quick little update.
Everyone (except #1 of course) is doing great! So far they are all on track to be decent sized, I just have to do my best to continue to mitigate any unfavorable environmental conditions.
That being said, I have acquired a new fear for all of my outdoor plants: SLUGS.
I am also growing many other plants, including some sunflowers. I went out to check them the other day, and found one was completely chewed down to a nub. All the leaves were eaten and there was just a tiny stem left. The culprit? The slug still on what was left of her. It's been unusually humid here even for spring, so there are plenty around. My cannibis plants in this journal are in an enclosure that will protect them from pretty much anything, but slugs are unfortunately not something stopped by it. I think they just need to grow another 2 weeks and they will be safe from total catastrophe, it's just not something I was ready for.
Have a great grow everyone!

Kali_flauer 03/09/26 is 14 days from sprouting and the start to week 3!
Progress has slowed down despite relatively good weather. After setting everything up a few weeks ago, I was worried my girls weren't going to get enough direct sunlight and their current progress might suggest I was correct. Granted, the only thing I have to compare them to is plants grown indoors under 18-20 hours of a 225W LED, but they are still a touch behind where I would like them to be.
#5 seems to be taking a little bit of damage from something, but I'm not sure what is biting her. Other than that, everyone is in good health! In case there is an issue with the microbiome (and to give them all a little boost) I made some worm tea and added kelp for the extra resilience it will give them. Hoping these ladies grow nice and strong 💪🌱.
That's it for now! Thank you for checking this out, and have a great grow!
03/13/26 - midweek update, and what a rough one it's been.
Temps spiked to 86 for 2 days, good thing I gave the girls their kelp in time or else that could have gone worse! What is going worse is the bug issue. There are thousands of caterpillars in my back yard, and I pulled 3 off my ladies this morning alone. #5 got eaten a little which is a shame, but I'm glad I checked and stopped the damage at least.
#4 is FOR SURE a Sativa hybrid. She is already taller than any other plants I've had for her age, and will definitely need some heavy LST or topping to fit in my 4 foot tall enclosure. I'm tracking height as an average of the 4 plants and she is a full 2 inches taller than the rest!
#1 is simply not recovering. I've seen some decent little stalks get grown out of a solo cup before, but I'm afraid she won't be one of them. Not sure what went wrong with her, just seems like the shellmet really did her in.
That's it for this week. Thank you for checking this out, and have a great grow 🌱

Temps have stayed consistently in the 80s, making life harsh for these little ladies and the caterpillars have been UNENDING! I'm checking each of them every morning and evening and will consistently pull 2-8 off them every inspection. You can probably see more clearly in these photos just how chewed up they are getting, but nevertheless we persevere!
Funny thing I found the other day: doesn't one of #2's fan leaves look like duckfoot weed? I know that Fastbuds hasn't carried any duckfoot strains, so it must just be a coincidental mutation? It's the only leaf like that, all the rest are normal 🤷♂️.
Anyways, thanks for checking this out, hopefully everyone will be a little better next update. Have a great grow! 🌱
Quick midweek update: on this solemn morning of 03/18/26, we say goodbye to plant #1. She didn't do great, but I was hoping to still see her through to the end. Godspeed little one, may you do better next time around.
Also I topped plants #3 and #4. 4 is clearly the Sativa of the group and will need help controlling her height, and 3 just looks really healthy so I want to give it a go. Thanks, and I'll be back next week with another update!

#3 and #4 might have started their stretch? Hopefully not, because their rapid growth began after I topped them and that timing would be somewhat unfortunate 😅.
Otherwise things are improving overall. The crazy heat is over (minus 1 warm day this week) and for the most part the caterpillars haven't been as bad. I keep missing one or two on #5 because she has new bite marks every day I come home from work. Oh well, trying to be Zen about it and just live with the results. I started some LST on #2, and #5 will just grow naturally due to how much she has been getting eaten.
I'm calling this another week of veg just because only half of them MIGHT be starting to flower, also there are no visible preflowers on anyone yet. Thank you for checking this journal out, and have a great grow 🌱
Just a quick midweek update. All but #2 have started producing preflowers, so just like my last journal, they decided to flip right after I started the week as veg 🤷♂️.
Oh well, mostly just updating with pictures of my little scaly guardian protecting my children. I genuinely think it's just coincidence, but I haven't seen a caterpillar since he showed up 🤞.
I'll update again next week, I think you all will like the progress they have been making 😁. Have a good one 🌱
Well, I didn't want to update again so soon, but I came home from work to discover tragedy today.
Apparently, #3 said "Fuck yo bud trainer clips! 😤" and decided she would rather snap one of her main branches than be trained 😭. It is what it is. Trying to get over it. Hopefully I'll have better news in future updates.

Everyone is for sure in their stretch and are starting to preflower. I am actually worried that #4 is going to be male!? They are the only plant without clear female anatomy and I'm largely unfamiliar with male plants (I know how to look it up, I'm just not familiar with handling them in person). Hopefully that ends up not being the case as these are definitely not the strains I am interested in breeding since I have no clue what they are 😂. I do plan on eventually breeding strains, but that is at least a year away if it ever happens.
Overall the weather has cooled down a ton, I am now only concerned over fluctuations in humidity. It's been humid the last few days, but this weekend the RH drops back to 20% 😬. Bugs also seem to be attacking the plants less. I'm not sure if I should thank the lizards, the growth of the plants, or something else entirely, but hopefully that issue is behind me.
Thank you for checking this diary out! Have a great grow yourself 🌱

If I had a nickel for every time #3 decided to YEET one of her own branches, I would have 2 nickels. That's not a lot of money, but it's weird that it happened to THE SAME PLANT TWICE! Ugh 🙄.
Maybe the lesson to learn is that budtrainer clips aren't meant to be used outside 😂
Either way, not a whole lot else to report. #2 and #4 look like they will likely be the big producers of this grow. Training has gone well and opened up both of their canopies to air and light. My plan is to start adding some additional PK once the bud heads become more clearly formed. Hopefully that will start next week, but who knows.
Thank you for checking out this diary, and have a great grow!

You might be thinking you yourself, "Hey, wait a minute... The outdoors look a little different now" and you're absolutely correct! I moved all of them indoors over the weekend while we had a storm, and immediately noticed a difference in how they were growing, even with just 16 hours of light from my LED they all appear to be much happier with that light. I'm concerned that they will not get enough in my outdoor location, so unfortunately it is likely a waste in that sense. They also are getting absolutely hammered with pests outside, and the only safe product I'm carrying is some Essentria IC pro. It's normally a great product, but it's simply not getting enough done. I think inside will be safer while they are flowering 😁.
So, most likely, my plan for the outdoor space will be to try breeding some of my own! While I still know very little about cannabis, I actually have an intimate background with genetics (not with plants and not for breeding purposes, but eh 🤷♂️) so I am hopeful I will beat the learning curve on that. Who knows though, I may test the outdoor spot again in the summer if I think they will get enough direct sunlight.
Lastly, I started adding some Foxfarm Big Bloom to their regular watering. Unless they show signs of nutrient burn, I'm going to progressively ramp up the added nutes until they are close to harvest!
Sorry about the sloppy labeling, I forgot I'm running 2 separate diaries.
Thanks for checking this diary out! I will update again soon, happy growing 🤙

It's been a great week for these ladies! Moving them indoors made it more clear that I had a massive thrip issue. Within 2 days of carefully eliminating every last one of them, everyone is looking more healthy and colorful! They definitely bounced back rather quickly.
#4 looks like the big producer of the group, but #2 isn't too far behind and has a massive main cola forming. It's difficult to isolate individual aromas, but I can clearly detect a very sweet yet vague scent. I'm not sure who it is coming from. Also, there's #4 who is already crazy pungent and sour! I think it's possible she could be a sour jealousy? Structure-wise she doesn't look that much like one, but who knows 🤷♂️. I'll look forward to guessing everyone's secret identity in the upcoming weeks!
Thank you for checking out this diary! I'll post again next week (or sooner if anything interesting happens). Until then, have a happy grow!
04/26/26 - 61 days from sprouting and just a quick update on the girls.
All of them are starting to stack trichrome production, so the smells should start to take off in the coming weeks. They are all drinking heavily, about 1/2 gal every 2-3 days. One interesting thing I noticed that's completely different in this grow is the total amount of water the substrate can retain. With coco, I was able to pour around 80%-90% of a gallon before seeing any runoff. In soil, the same size pot only takes about a 1/2 gal before you see runoff. Interesting to see a concrete example of the different capacities.
#3 is gonna have some big buds on her! She's the first to start bulking up, and if the early lead is any indicator, I think she may have the fattest main bud. It's such a shame that she broke off one of her topped main branches and one of her biggest secondaries. She would have been the biggest producer without a doubt.
See you again next week 🌱

Kali_flauer 04/29/26 - 64 days from germination (a day late, sorry) and the start of week 10.
Everyone is doing great! I'll go over each plant individually in this update.
#2 - is the baby of the bunch. She is the shortest and one of the less productive mystery gals, but still has an absolute monster of a main cola! Basically her entire main stem is one long, thin bud. It's getting difficult to determine individual aromas, so I don't have much to add there. She LST'd like a champ and hasn't given me much trouble.
#3 - is the girl I will lose sleep over because of how perfect she could have been 😭. She absolutely refused to be trained and snapped one of her main branches after being topped, and then broke another lower one about a week later. Knowing she could have had an entire other main branch full of massive buds will haunt me, but it is what it is.
#4 - is the oddball of the group being the only one showing strong sativa traits. I'm concerned she may not yield as much as I hoped due to how skinny her buds are. Only time will tell. This is also the only one of the group with a definitive aroma. She is LOUD; sour and maybe a little skunk tossed in there. It's tough to say. I'm going to get multiple opinions before I make a guess as to her identity.
#5 - is also a little strange in her growth pattern. She LST'd pretty willingly, but didn't want to spread out at all, and instead shot straight upwards. She is also the first plant I've grown where a lower node rose to the top of the canopy and may get more focus than even her main cola.
Oh and I almost forgot to mention their light cycle! I need these wonderful ladies to hurry it up a bit, so I am reducing the light cycle gradually back to a 12-12 over the next week.
And that is it for the girls! The weather has been absolutely perfect the last few weeks and it looks to continue that way for at least the next week. Let's hope these ladies can just keep chugging away at what they do 💪. Thank you for checking this diary out! May your harvests be grand 🌱

Hello again! This is an exciting update for sure! Bud development is coming along for (almost) everyone. I thought that everyone started swelling last week, but it really kicked into high gear this week. I've cut off the extra nutes for everyone as they shouldn't be necessary and I need them developing quickly! I have gradually reduced daylight hours until this week when we reached 12-12. Even with them being autos, I hope the reduced light will help them "think" it's almost winter.
#2 is my problem child and really is lagging behind the rest in terms of maturity. She has almost no orange pistils and all clear trichromes, which is not ideal because I need her to be completely finished in just under 3 weeks in order to dry her and start the curing process. Hoping for no premature harvest 🙏.
#3 is MASSIVE! Her buds are hands down the largest of the group and may even be larger than the LCC from my previous diary (in terms of single bud size, not total weight). She must have Bruce Banner genetics in there somewhere!
#4 is also quite large, just in terms of total size and spaceous branching. She's not bulky like #3, but makes up for it by being STACKED top to bottom in little marble sized nugs. She is also one of the frostiest looking ladies and is the closest to maturing.
#5 is also starting to put on some weight! She also looks the frostiest of the girls in person, so hopefully she will be a hard hitting powerhouse to help make up for her lack in size and branching.
Lastly, I'm trying something a little different with my pictures. It seems like a lot of the best photos here are with a dark background and a bright projected light, so that's more or less what I went for 😁. If the pics look better on the site then I will go through the extra effort more consistently with my updates.
Thank you as always for checking this diary out! May your harvests be grand 🌱

Everyone but #2 is close to wrapping up! #3 and #4 have only milky trichromes as far as I can see. I think they will definitely get the chop in the next week or so. #5 is likely to follow soon after, and who knows with #2 🤷♂️.
Not much to update beyond that. Individual aromas are still impossible to distinguish. I have a busy week, so this is all I will add for now. Potentially one or two harvests this weekend, but only time will tell.
Thanks, and have a great grow 🌱
05/15/26 - midweek update. #4 and #3 are getting chopped this weekend! I actually think #4 could go a few more days, but she decided to start tossing out a few nanners, so I will harvest in hopes that no pollen reaches anyone else. It's hopefully too late in the flowering cycle for any seeds to form, but genuinely I have no idea as this is my first experience with herming.
The way I'm going to try and manage reporting 4 separate harvests is to just keep the regular weekly updates rolling out until everyone is chopped down, then I will measure and rate everything. Excited to see how this little variety bundle turns out! I'll report back in a few days with updates on the harvest 🤙
As of 05/16/26, both #3 and #4 have been chopped and are drying. #3 fit in the herbsnow dryer and #4 is mostly hanging to dry. I believe LSD from my other diary will be the next to go, but we'll see what the future holds!
05/18/26 ended up being #5's last day with us. Her trichromes were so amber on her top buds and sugar leaves that you could see an orange tint with the naked eye 😬. I'm also running out of room to dry these colas!

We're pretty much at the tail end of things, #3, #4, #5 have all been harvested. #3 is pretty much taking up the whole dryer while #4 and #5 are hanging with the octopus 😂.
#2 is finally fading, but still needs to hurry up! At this point, there isn't much I can do to hurry her along, she's probably just going to get chopped a little early 🤷♂️.
I should have dry weights and everything in the next week or so. Thank you for checking this out, and have a bountiful harvest yourself 🤙
Sorry about all the delays getting this out! Real life has been brutal and allowing me no time to trim or document a lot. I don't really have any pictures of the harvest process, but that's because a lot of effort went into trying to figure out who was who!
Overall, the harvest weight was a little lower than expected. Even in poor conditions, I was expecting an average of an ounce per plant, which we fell just short of. Not a huge deal, so it is what it is. They definitely tolerated various conditions and a few sudden shakeups. I can honestly say I'm only disappointed in how #2 grew, as I was expecting more from her in terms of yield. Nevertheless, I will provide a summary of each plant and what their identities might be!
#3 was chopped on 05/16/26 and was easily one of the standouts in the group. She had the largest buds without a doubt and stayed frosty and smelly once deep into flowering. The buds are a little leafy, but it's not a major issue by any means. She absolutely reeks of strawberry and gas, which leads me to believe she is a Strawberry Gorilla auto! - 9/10
#4 also got the chop on 05/16/26, alongside her sister. #4 was the other major standout as she was the only plant to show strong sativa traits (more on that later) and was unbelievably covered in trichromes! I tore 6 disposable gloves while trimming her only because they would stick together and rip open. She also had almost no leaves in her buds whatsoever. Trimming took maybe 30 minutes which is insanely fast for me. Despite her showing strong sativa traits, her aroma profile gave away her identity, as every member of the smell test agreed she smelled like earth and cookies. I am very confident to say she is a Gorilla Cookies auto plant, and looking at many images shared here, I see lots of examples that look exactly like her. - 10/10
#5 was cut on 05/18/26 and was the one I expected the least from. She was pretty frosty overall, but definitely did not have large buds or a substantial yield. The buds themselves are a little larfy, but I'm hoping the frostiness makes up for it. Her identity is actually a bit of a mystery. Everyone in the smell test had the same answer. Grape. She smells like nothing but a bunch of grapes. I'm not exactly certain what Fastbuds strains have grape terpene profiles, but after a deep dive, I think I'm confident to say she could be a Ztrawberriez auto, or maybe Purple Punch auto that didn't fade to purple. The Fastbuds website says Ztrawberriez can have a grape profile, and many of the Purple Punch strains I've tried over the years were all grape. - 7/10, might rate higher if the smoke is good.
And lastly, #2. She was harvested on 05/23/26. She stayed small and didn't yield much, but my god was she covered in trichromes! I had to constantly take breaks while trimming her to cry and flush out all the kief that was getting in my eyes! Never thought that would be a problem . She doesn't really seem to have a scent profile, she just smells like weed. She also took an insane amount of time to finish, and probably could have waited another week or 2 before harvest. Best guess I can come up with is maybe OG Kush auto? I'm basing that mostly on appearance as she has the dark brown pistils just like the other pictures I can find online. - 6/10
Oh, and just because I happened to harvest them today, I decided to add a pic of some of my sunflowers I started around the same time as these lovely ladies.
And that's it for now! I will update with a smoke report as the final check in on this diary. Thank you dudes for following along . I can't wait to show what I have lined up next!

Never thought that would be a problem 😅.
Thank you dudes for following along 🤙. I can't wait to show what I have lined up next!
