Selkot Let's get started on a new session 😊 After the (fantastic) Triple G from RQS, I'm starting some more FB seeds: 3 West Coast OG autos. More modest than my usual sessions of 5 or 6 plants. I started them on Sunday, February 22; after 4 days, they had all sprouted (one of them had even already shed its shell). I placed them in peat pellets for 24 hours before planting them. A little experiment: for the substrate, I'm going with a mixture of clay balls (10%), wood and coconut fibers (20%), and coarsely chopped coconut bark (70%). This substrate contains a little fertilizer, so this time I will wait 2 or 3 weeks before fertilizing (apart from Rootboost, of course). They have joined my tent where my last two Triple Gs are maturing; little seeds will grow big... 👍

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- Seven days have passed since opening the package; 2 of the 3 girls have taken root well (the early stretching of one of them has eased off; I suppose she’s now focusing on sending her main root down to the bottom of the pot), the third is having more difficulty. I can clearly see the shell that has risen to the surface, but there’s no stem or cotyledons visible. Not a good sign, but it’s not over yet: I’m giving her one week to show me she’s got the will to make it 👍 MIDWEEK ----------- One of the two big sisters has been harvested, the tent is clearing out for the younger ones 😎 The first two have gotten well into their vegetative stage, cotyledons and the first pair of leaves are clearly visible and growing. However, still no sign of the third one… I’ll give her until the weekend to emerge from the soil.

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- Alright, I have to face the facts, the third one isn’t going to sprout. 😌 Seed issue, problem with the new substrate, or just bad luck ; whatever it is, I’m going to focus on the two plants that did emerge. They’ll still be accompanied for another week by their lovely big sister, Triple G. By next week, each of them will have 0.72 m² of space and 300 W of light. good conditions. 😉

Selkot Start of week 3, and the girls aren’t doing great… The first one is about a week behind, and the second has completely stalled and is starting to turn brown. My fault: in my quest for an ever lighter substrate, I really overdid it this time. With 90% clay pebbles and bark, it’s practically hydroponics! The roots are probably struggling to anchor properly and to absorb the limited nutrients available. But I’m not giving up on them: I flushed both plants (the bark wasn’t buffered, so I got rid of a lot of dust) and at the same time I reintroduced regular coco fiber, the same kind I used in my last Triple G that just left the tent. Along with that, some Voodoo Juice and a bit of CalMag. We’ll see if they bounce back over the next few days. MIDWEEK ----------- Alright, we avoided the worst... 😏 The flush and the addition of coco fiber were beneficial: in 4 days, the wilting stopped, the leaves regained their color, a new node appeared, and apical growth resumed. I really put them through a lot, so now I’m going to take extra good care of them. I’m giving the two of them 1.44 m² of space and 600W of good LED lighting. As for nutrients, in addition to CalMag and Voodoo, I’m starting Aptus All-in-One, at just 1 ml/L for now.

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- The girls are doing well; over the past three days their growth has exploded. I’ll never put them through that kind of stress again with my amateur sorcerer experiments 😏 Thanks to adding coconut fiber, the pot now retains enough moisture for the time being. I’m giving them 1 liter per day with Voodoo, Calmag, and All-in-One, all at reasonable doses. They’re responding well to this regime, under the light too : Im running my four 150W lights at 100%, but positioned 70 cm away. At the start of spring, this helps me maintain an appropriate temperature for them. MIDWEEK ----------- Things are going well, both plants are nice and green and very vigorous. They’re growing up to 1 cm per day. I’ve added a bit of nitrogen through the Sugar Royal; I’m hoping the growth phase will last longer for an auto, to make up for the rough start and allow them to develop big branches to support large buds. I should be able to start training by next week ; this time I won’t be doing any topping.

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- At the end of last week, I installed the gift I received from the Mars Hydro Photo Contest; I was able to choose the item I wanted, so I went with the connected 6-inch exhaust fan A good choice to replace my previous one, which was a bit underpowered; this one allows me to completely refresh the air in my tent every minute at only 30% power. Even during the upcoming periods of high heat and humidity, Ill never need to push it beyond 60/70%, which makes it quieter than my previous setup. And I have to admit, the automatic mode with real-time info on my phone is actually useful, not just a gimmick. As for the girls, theyre making up for a bit of lost time with vigorous growth. I know I said “no topping” but I like a challenge… 😏I topped the tallest one, removing the first pair of branches and leaving her with four that I’m training horizontally. I’m aiming for a cross shape with 8 colas, probably in one-bud. The smaller one, Im letting grow a bit more and Ill be gentler with her: stick to horizontal LST and encourage development of secondary colas. The colors are vibrant, with no signs of deficiencies or burn, so I’ll continue feeding and slightly increase some doses. MIDWEEK ----------- The girls are responding well, both the small trained one and the tall topped one. I’ve pulled 4 branches on the small one so far, but I’ll go up to 5 or 6; And for the tall one, I’m ultimately sticking with 6 colas instead of 8, aiming for denser buds rather than a higher quantity.

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- I’ve finished training the first plant; it now has its 6 colas, which can grow upward and bulk up, getting ready to carry some big, beautiful buds 😊 The second one is giving me more trouble: it’s developing misshapen, thick leaves that seem to be taking over the growth 😐 I carried out heavy defoliation and pulled down 5 branches, including the main cola. I’m hoping to see them stretch this week before flowering begins, which shouldn’t be much longer now. MIDWEEK ----------- Things are going pretty well in the tent. The first plant is perfect: it completely tolerated the HST, forming a very symmetrical 6branch cross, and all the colas are growing toward the light at an even pace. The second responded very well to defoliation; the branches are strengthening and growing, and the 5 tops are already pointing upward. I’ll let them keep growing and will spread them out once theyve developed more. I’ve stopped using Voodoo, but I’m continuing with Sugar Royal as a nitrogen source; I’ll stop once the stretch has properly begun.

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- An interesting week: I had to prune several secondary branches from the first plant, which handled it well, and finish training the second one, which has strengthened nicely. The stretch, delayed by my “experiments,” has now begun in earnest; if all goes well, I can expect one plant to reach about 60cm, while the other will remain a bonsai of around 40cm. Moreover, as expected, pre-flowering has begun 😃 MIDWEEK ----------- After a difficult start, things are finally going very well, with vigorous growth: 29 cm for the tallest one, which is 6 cm more in 3 days. Let’s hope it lasts. There are no signs of deficiency or excess either. Once past the seedling difficulties, the only real constraint of this “experimental substrate” is the watering frequency: if I wait more than 24 hours, the tips bend slightly due to lack of water. Ideally, it needs watering twice a day; you can tell the roots are getting plenty of air, but it’s quite demanding. No change in fertilization midweek, the nitrogen balance seems good.

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- This week is looking good. The tallest one, right in the middle of its stretch phase, has grown 12 cm in 4 days, while drinking 1.5 L of water per day with the same nutrient mix at every watering. Its flowering stage is clearly underway. The second one is a week behind her big sister, but her foundations are solid. Shell be able to reach up toward the light this week before focusing on her buds. Theyll be short, but I imagine them big, dense and chunky 😊 MIDWEEK ----------- A quiet week, the girls are developing well, growing +2 cm per day, and flowering is slowly taking off. Theyre drinking more and more, so I might consider setting up an automatic watering system.

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- New week, new feeding schedule. The girls have had enough nitrogen, the stretch phase is ending; Im replacing Sugar Royal with Green Sensation, while keeping everything else at the same doses. I did a (heavy!) defoliation: the girls are drinking 1.5 liters, so it’s time for them to focus on their buds rather than their leaves. MIDWEEK ----------- With the nitrogen and the excess leaves removed, flowering is exploding 👌 Both will end up smaller than I had estimated, but the future buds are already taking shape, and they look fat and dense 😊

Selkot Went to soak up the sun in Spain for a week, so I set up a small automatic watering system (a basic one, €25 on Amazon…) and crossed my fingers that it would do the job properly, with my girls in full bloom. A friend stopped by the house specifically to check on them and sent me some photos : everything is doing great in the tent! Not the slightest sign of water stress or anything else, so I can relax until I get back 🙂

Selkot . FIRST DAYS ------------- After 8 days on vacation, and having received updates about the girls halfway through, I was pretty relaxed about the condition Id find them in and indeed, they’re in perfect health! The little one is still quite scrawny because of the initial substrate, but the big one seems to have fully moved past that and is giving me some really thick buds! The color of her leaves is starting to turn slightly purple, but without showing any signs of stress. I have to say, a simple automatic watering setup without a major investment works perfectly well as a backup system 👍 MIDWEEK ----------- A magnificent week 👌 The girls aren’t gaining even a single centimeter anymore, but they’re focusing on their buds, and honestly I can see them swelling day after day. It’s also the beginning of the end: the colors are changing, the smell is getting stronger and stronger; probably another 2 or 3 weeks before harvest.

Selkot . We’re there, the girls are ready 👌 Today they got their big shower (I always do a flush with running water, very effective and easy with a coco substrate), and from now on they’ll only get plain water for the next 4/5 days, at half dosis. The tall one has buds the size of a forearm despite being only 50 cm tall; the small one stayed compact but produced buds hard as rocks, which suits me just fine too. 😊

Selkot . End of the run: 3 months from seed to harvest. I've kept them dry for the last 5 days, so I should be able to start trimming and curing in about 10–12 days. More to come. RESULTS ---------- Harvest results after 7 days of drying on the branches and 4 days as trimmed buds on a drying rack: 79g from the smaller plant and 162g from the larger one. Not a record breaker, but definitely a very respectable yield The buds are frosty, dense, and fragrant, and they look to be of great quality. Everything is going into jars for a 7–8 week cure, and I'll be back with a smoke test afterward Thanks for following my diary!
