MontanaManMedical I decided to try Golden Tiger (my “K1”) early! Now that I re-calibrate my PH probes every 3 months, this strain should do just fine. This goes into the flowering tent on the 28th, which is when Strawberry Cough is getting the chop.

MontanaManMedical She’s growing fast! I made sure to go easy on the nutrients in the first week. The root already made it to the reservoir, so she should be taking off really soon. She’ll be moved into the flowering tent in two weeks. With the kind of stretch she’s supposed to have (4X!), I don’t want to take any chances. Gotta tame the tiger!

MontanaManMedical She’s shooting up fast! I might need to brace her if her stem doesn’t firm up in the next few days. She’s looking like she’ll be the perfect size for the flowering tent next week.

MontanaManMedical I’ve moved her into the flowering tent. I don’t want to take any chances with the stretch. I double-checked the PH after feeding and transplant to make sure she starts off flowering right. I’m curious which pheno I’ll get. I’m prepared for the long haul if I get a Thai-leaning pheno. I’ve heard so much about this strain, it’ll be nice to experience flowering it.

MontanaManMedical 1 week into flowering and she’s nearly triple her height from last week! She’s looking really healthy. I’ve dropped the PH to 5.9 to help with uptake of nutrients. She’s not tall enough to reach the lower net, so I haven’t had to do anything to curb her stretch yet. I doubt that’ll be the case by next week.

MontanaManMedical As you can see from the multitude of photographs, I’ve been focusing on training the tiger this week. She’s now starting to poke through the first trellis net, which means I need to start tucking to keep her under, at least until the lower branches begin to catch up. So far she looks really healthy and has responded positively to the bending I’ve been doing without showing too much permanent change (e.g.:knots). I imagine she’ll be attempting to poke through the second net by next week, so I’ll be doing my best to keep her well below the second net for at least another week.

MontanaManMedical I’m using all the tricks to tame the stretch, which has been significant. The plant has responded well. I’ve only removed two of the bigger fan leaves for now, but did a good amount of lollipopping while I had the chance, which included removing the two lowest branches. I think it’s for the best. This should leave me with 12 colas, including the main one. A light sweet smell is left on the hands after handling her, which makes me hopeful that the pheno I got has a fruit smell/taste. Everything looks great!

MontanaManMedical She continues to stretch with gusto! I’ve been getting even more aggressive to control her! I’ve tied down the main cola, as bending alone wasn’t enough. I’ll definitely do this again in the future. The lower branches are making their way to the second net rapidly. I’m thinking she’ll stretch for the better part of the next week, before slowing down. I’m hoping she’ll stretch long enough for all of the lower branches to make it to the top of the second net. She’s beginning to bud as well, so I’m hoping there will be a scent in the next week or so. All in all she’s looking fantastic!

MontanaManMedical She’s just about finished stretching! While it wasn’t easy to control her crazy growth, I believe I’ve managed to “ride out the storm”, and am now seeing her bud up really quickly. Hopefully there will be some type of scent in the next week or so. Everything continues to look good!

MontanaManMedical I spoke too soon! She stretched another week, albeit significantly less, thankfully. She’s budding out rapidly, with a VERY slight citrus scent when brushed, or her stems manipulated for LST/HST. I’m beginning to think I have a Thai-leaning pheno, instead of the balanced pheno. I’m looking at adjusting the expected flowering time by adding an additional week, bringing the total to 13 weeks. She continues to look healthy and I’m hoping I’ll at least match my previous record of 426 grams with the wonderful Desfrán last December.

MontanaManMedical Aside from a little bit of stretch with some of the colas, she’s finally settled. In a week or two I’ll remove some of the tie downs to prevent any humidity build up between the colas as they swell. All the colas are swelling rapidly, though there’s still not that much smell. Overall she looks very healthy, although I think she might’ve gotten a little too much nitrogen earlier in flowering. I’m still looking at 5 - 6 more weeks of flowering before harvest, but now that the stretch is over, it’s more of a matter of patience when it comes to riding out the next several weeks.

MontanaManMedical There was still a little bit of stretch from some of the upper colas as they continue to put on weight. A bunch of the lower fan leaves have fallen off, but well below lollipopping level. There’s a little bit of burnt tips and yellowing, but nothing serious. I will be getting a new EC/PPM meter in the coming weeks, which should help in situations like this, though the plant looks healthy overall. I double checked the PH with the color changing drops as I do from time to time now and it was still dead on. I think the insane amount of stretch took a lot more nitrogen than the flowering mix is providing, causing the plant to seek it elsewhere. I’m going to make sure to have the new EC/PPM meter in place before starting any long flowering Sativas so that this doesn’t happen again.

MontanaManMedical She’s beginning to swell, with no real stretch observed (finally!). She now smells, without rubbing, of a combination of lemon and orange peel and a generic citrus scent. She continues to lose a lot of her lower fan leaves and there’s a bit of slow yellowing of some of her other leaves, but nothing alarming. She has 4 weeks left, as I’m sticking with my 13 week timeline, as it looks like it’ll be the right time to harvest. Next week will be her last full strength feeding. We’re getting closer to the finish line.

MontanaManMedical 3 weeks to go and I’m beginning to see signs of ripening, though I still believe the buds will swell a bit more in the coming weeks. I’m still targeting a harvest in 3 weeks, but if it looks like it needs another week, I will wait.
