Aircoholic Alright, after the Auto Kong 4 seed didn't survive my curiosity, I quickly had to pivot. Jack Herer Auto is happily germinating in the neighbor pot, so what might be a good match? I found one last Banana Kush Auto seed and the relaxing and pain relieving qualities sound like a good match for the rather activating and stimulating Jack Herer. Same soil, nothing changed, popped the seed in the soil, covered with more soil, added some water to soak the seed and added a humidity dome. Now we'll wait and will not go on excavation missions in the first week at least. Promised! EDIT: We have liftoff!!! Happy to see little Banana Kush germinating and looking beautiful from day 1. As much as I managed to resist excavation urges, when the seedling showed up overground, seed cap and all, I couldn't resist any more and helped to release the cap, although, to be fair, it pretty much fell off by itself. The underlying skin, I learned a while a go, is easily removed by adding a drop of water, let it soak a little and let the seedling do the work.

Aircoholic She's so cute! She's growing some roots right now and her first real leafs. This phase is usually pretty uneventful and not much is happening with the plant, and not much interesting to report about. Which is a good thing.

Aircoholic She didn't gain any height in the last week, which is probably due to - not quite an overwatering situation, but let's say, the soil was moist. The soil is drying again, and I've raised the light up again after lowering it for a few days - let's see some vertical stretch! Besides the height, she looks good - the first real leafs are in a bit of a rough shape, however the other leafs look fine. My guess is, that it might be the nutrient rich soil, that might be quite hot for the young roots. UPDATE: I did top her on day 18, maybe a little late, and she was rather small, so some bravery was necessary.

Aircoholic This was a tough one - not an easy decision to top her or not - she's rather short and was struggling a bit, droopy leafs etc. But she's recovering pretty well, her leafs are continuously pointing further upwards. She also has this characteristic Dark green leafs and red leaf stems, and some side shoots are showing. They say it's a fine line between bravery and stupidity - guess I was lucky this time ;-) From now, it's recovery time until LST beginns.

Aircoholic Poor Banana Kush Auto has to suffer because of my ADHD. I forgot to write down, that I watered her one day and thus watered her again next day. She's not super happy with that much water and just slowed down growth drastically. So, she's a bit on the shorter side for now, but she ain't no Fast Buds genetic, so I'm hopeful, she'll have a bit of a slower start in general. The Topping was maybe not the best idea, but now it happened, and in a funny way as well - because the 4th node was already developed, but her internodes are super short, I accidentally created a "best of both worlds" scenario between Topping and FIMing. And now there's the top branches growing, but also two tiny shoots right where the 4th node was. Would be sweet, if there'd actually be buds growing!

Aircoholic Since she's sharing a room with Jack Herer Auto, she also had to suffer the same situation - heat wave and failing humidifier. She handled the situation very gracefully, being thirsty with 194 mbar on the tensiometer, but nothing dramatic and nothing 2L of RO water can't fix. The strange Topping/FIMing site has produced a couple of branches on the 4th node as well as on the 3rd node - this led to some confusion for the plant, not knowing what to expand where. As a consequence her lowest branches have grown much more than the rest. I've applied LST-Clips to those branches, bringing their tops down to the level of the others, to even the canopy growth. Another measure was to but her closer to the light, so she gets more photons, hopefully aiding her growth rate. She's chaotic, she's unique, she definitely has character - I love it!

Aircoholic She's a bit of the problem plant - in my last few grows, there was always 1. She recovered pretty well from the Topping/FIMing session, but somehow I managed to overwater her, despite having a digital tensiometer and only feeding her when that signals thirst. However, due to watering small amounts of about 1L RO water every few days, water managed to build up in the bottom of the pot while the top of the soil dried out as expected. I've now let her sit until the tensiometer signalled thirst and only fed her 0.5 L RO water. The idea is to keep the top relatively moist, while drying the bottom down to a healthy level. Really hoping she'll recover from the over-watering stress and that she'll get a good stretch before getting into flower. Would be a shame if she'd remain tiny, but I also know she won't grow into her full size anymore.

Aircoholic She's entering her stretch phase, which is a bit of a relief - she's still rather small, but I'm hoping she'll grow up to a more decent size soon. Her early and still young buds look cute and the new growing leafs look healthy. She recovered from the overwatering issue, but then showed some jagged leaf edges as a result of too much light - I did prop her platform up a bit, to bring her closer to the light, but maybe that was too much. Did bring it back down a bit and also reduced the light intensity by a few percent, which I hope will do the trick.

Aircoholic Her development is a joy to watch! After a pretty slow start, she's now stretching and at the same time producing these lovely little buds, some trichomes and a promising first hint of bananaroma. She had some dry-stress, due to an empty humidity tank while I was gone for a few days - she got a few clawing leafs due to the low relative humidity and the higher transpiration rate. But she overall seems pretty robust and forgiving and keeps doing her thing. I'm guessing she's got a few more stretching days ahead of her - when that phase comes to an end, she'll get a nice ACT feeding and also some light lollipopping.

Aircoholic Her stretch came to an end, she looks beautiful, developing plenty of buds with the first glittering trichomes, spreading a mild Banana aroma in the grow room. One of her branches developed a twin top, but she's too small, and it was too late for any LST measures. On the agenda for this week is some mild lollipopping (I don't think she needs a lot) and some PK Booster ACT, so support her bud building and trichome production.
