Nirvana - Northern Light / GSC

Day 29: Topping Notes: I made a mistake when topping. Absentmindedly, I cut the growth tips off - which were tiny - on both plants when I did the topping. While I was waiting for it them to grow back, the plant has been getting really strong and bushy, but growth tips were not growing in after 4 days. So, I made the decision to top the next node down, and didn't cut off the growth tips this time! 👍 I did this right after lights on, so they had all day to bask in the light. Several hours later, the plants are looking great considering. I staked down the side shoots on both plants to give the growth tips the most light possible. It made me sad to cut off the leaves. They were looking full and really vibrant! I will check them out tomorrow and update. Day 30: Nothing new Notes: Not a whole lot to update today. Plants are looking good. I messed around with LST'ing them a bit more, Keeping the growth as horizontal as possible and moving the plants around giving the new growth access to more light. Day 31: Nothing new Notes: Some of the leaves felt a little "crispy" for lack of a better term. I turned down the light to about 60%. I also messed around with training the plants some more. There are a few additional stakes in both plants. I'm trying to give all the new growth as much access to the light as possible, while trying to spread out the plant horizontally so I keep vertical growth to a minimum. I also moved the humidifier to behind the tent again as I feel it distributes the humidity as evenly as possible. I've been noticing dust or some sort of substance around the humidifier's exhaust, which I assume is a mixture of dust and minerals that were in the water that accumulated as the humidifier dispersed the water out. I had a bunch of spare gallons of water, plus a water filter, so I've started using that to reduce mineral accumulation on the plants. Soil felt more dry than wet, so I will feed tomorrow. I also plan on starting feedings on Day 35, or when they need to be watered next. So we'll see how that goes and play it by ear. Day 32: Watering GSC 1 Gallon of water pH: 6.2 Runoff pH: 6.5 NL 1 Gallon of water pH: 6.2 Runoff pH: 6.5 Notes: Humidity has been around 60-75%! Plants seem to love it. I watered them today with an input pH of 6.2 and a runoff of 6.5 on both plants. Day 33: Nothing new Notes: Humidity topped off at 84% but was around 60-65 most of the day (lights on). I took off the plant spikes around the beginning of lights on, just to see what they'd do. The GSC took the fuck off like it had been being held prisoner. It was at this moment that I realized that I have an actual cannabis plant, with how big it has gotten. I'm probably going to defoliate the GSC soon as some of the lower fan leaves are hiding the new growth sites. After defoliation, going to put the stakes back in for some LST and probably start feeding 24 hours after that at a quarter strength for its first feeding. Some of the tips of the NL are pointing down very noticeably, but it's on some of the older growth, so I'm thinking it got a little burned early on because FFOF is pretty strong on young plants. The new growth looks pretty lush, so I think it's ok to start at a quarter strength as well. Day 34: Defoliation Notes: Did some trimming and more LST. Just picked off some of the lower fan leaves and other fan leaves pointed inwards not really catching much light. Staked a bunch of stems down so that light is shining directly on a lot of the newer growth tips. Soil was still pretty damp, so no water. I'm not sure it will be ready for watering/feeding tomorrow. We'll see. Day 35: Feeding GSC 1 Gallon of water 1/4 strength base nutrients pH: 6.1 Runoff pH: 6.5 NL 1 Gallon 1/4 strength base nutrients pH: 6.1 Runoff pH: 6.3 Notes: Decided to put the scrog down today to LST the plants for me. GSC is tall enough, but NL is still pretty short and seems kinda stunted. Gonna let it grow up a bit before I mess with it anymore. Also, first feeding. Decided to go with a 1/4 strength of the feeding schedule to start off and see how plants take it. If all goes well, I'll probably start feeding every 3rd watering at 1/2 strength and go from there. Fed 1 gallon of 7.2pH water plus nutrients, used pH down to 6.1. Quite a bit more runoff than usual. Probably about 25%. Perhaps I didn't need to water. Runoff tested 6.5 for GSC and 6.3 for NL.
