I have a big 8 foot outdoor plant. We are expecting a couple of nights temperature low's around 45 Degrees with days in the 70's.
The plant is real close to harvest. Will these low temps affect the trichomes?
Many growers believe this is a great thing! Some indoor growers go as far as putting ice cubes on their soil a day before harvest. The idea is dense buds develop in colder temperatures and the temp signals to the plant the end is near. Nearing the end of its lifecycle the plants puts out the last amount of resign possible and many claim a good frost near the end of harvest promotes dense crystal buds and boosts THC content. Evidence is anecdotal however.
Ideal temp is 15c - 20c (55f - 70f) for late flowering. Buy cheap PVC Greenhouse (US-60) will help protect the flowers. Next time - try topping in vegetation stage, split to 6 - 8 to keep them shorter and bushy
