Hey there Jed, great question, Diatomaceous Earth works, especially for plants in the ground directly instead of in pots, usually you want to make a thick ring with the diatomaceous earth around the plant quite far from the roots as it will significantly increase the pH and might lead to pH fluctuations, i use it in my tent sometimes in front of the intakes and around the pots if i think that pests might become a problem. Most of the time i'm using beneficial bacteria to keep pests away, beneficial bacteria contribute to your soil's health as well as attack the pests and their eggs and larvae. I recommend bacillus subtilis, bacillus trichoderma, and bacillus trichoderma israelis if the other two dont work. These will stay in your soil and infect any kind of bug eggs and larvae as well as the leaf hoppers themselves and basically kill them by eating their brain... damn nature, you scary ! lol THese are available a specialist bio shops. I saw your question below too : about the feeding? well , i never recommend to feed an auto before week 3 and usually not before week 4 - i would say go directly to flower nutrients if you do, in addition to the beneficials, add some flower NPK and a natural additive like enzymes or whatever else chelation agent is convenient for you. Lastly i would say g ahead and get some cal mag and start that right away every ten days minimum. Hope this helps ! 🚀
