Seems I can't get the right watering schedule...

Seems I can't get the right watering schedule. I used to do 2L every two days in smart pots. Could this one be drying quicker? I've tried 3L but she's not bouncing back as quickly as I'd hoped. Any advice regarding watering, should I increase the amount or frequency?

Hi @Gr33nFi3ld! Yes she seems under-watered, and the pot's weight is a good clue. AirPots do not retain water as much as geotextile containers do, that could be a good or bad thing depending on the grower's availability/skills, the environment stances and the strain. I personally found that AirPots are not the best for coco (the medium dries too quickly), but definitely useful with soil (it prevents overwatering). I've seen some veggie-growers using AirPots and digging the whole container into water for a minute, I think I will give it a try someday. Growing in soil I have a simple formula for adult plants, I usually water with 15-20% of the pot's volume, so 11L container gets ~1.5L. Never exceed more than 20-25% unless you want to flush. You'll be soon into the late flowering stage, so pay attention to your waterings, do not overwater or you might encounter bud-rot / root-rot, do not underwater or you will loose in weight. Tricky game huh 😎 Hope this will help, let me know in the comments section if you need any further information, and happy growing! 👊

The leaves have a wavy look that is typical of over watering. Are the leaves puffy or thin? First is overwatering, the second is underwatering. If it were under watering, it would jump back in an hour or less after watering. Smartpots evaporate water through the fabric, airpots are plastic, so they loose less water. Best way to know how long before watering again is to wait until plant wilts a little.

Yes I do flowering stage is where your plant is going to drink the most water. Best method for watering. When u water with nutrients growing in soil you need to water till u get good runoff 10%. Prevents salt build up and replaces old nutrients with fresh. Then everyday after watering lift smart pot to check weight when it feels light ( you will notice difference) then it's time to water. Do this a couple of times and you will notices when the plant is thirsty and not. I grow in a super soil and this method I use.
