To speed up growing on top, I removed 4 new branches only (leaving the leaves) on the first internode on left and right. Is it better to wait 4-5 internodes and then apply the main-lining? Or is it much faster to remove unnecessary branches nor leaves as I did? Thanks

Waiting will give your plant extra leaves to grow faster. If you removed as you went, the plant would grow a lot slower So to be direct, let it grow a couple nodes, find your node you want to top at, remove all the extra branches/leaves up until your last "main lined" branch.

Hey @Auwia! First at all. For mainlining the secure option is to wait until the plant grows 4-5 nodes. You just need to get a healthy plant with a big root system to help her recover as fast as posible. As you probably know she needs between 5-7 days to recover from each defoliation. Healthier and better root systems will help her suffering less and recovering more fast from each defoliation. FInally, let her with 2-4 leaves under every cut of mainlining process to help her grow faster since she will be more able to take nutrients and make photosyntesys.

The branches you removed will direct the growth to the tops and allow them to grow faster. In soil you do need to give it some recovery time and make sure she is healthy in between topping and defoliation. So I give it a week and see how she is growing before removing anything else. You can continue to train the branches the way you are without any issues. As far as doing a hard core mainline it takes a while and you can get similar results with some training in less time. I top my plants once then just bend the branches out every couple days while removing leaves that are blocking light to lower branches. It works pretty good for me and I usually get plenty of top buds. Good luck!
