This is a traditional multipurpose Himalayan cultivar from the Johaar Valley region of eastern Kumaon, on the old India-Tibet trade route.
Local farmers regard this as an excellent 'three-in-one' strain for production of fibre, seeds, and resin.
This is a distinct local plant but has similarities to the variety RSC has offered as 'Kumaoni'. As with the Kumaoni, collectors can have a high degree of certainty that this strain has not been contaminated with introduced hybrids from Western countries. Resin from this strain will have the characteristic euphoric warmth of traditional Himalayan charas.
