As need or selectively. Just providing more light and air to insides if plant to promote growth in more areas.

Definitely herd mentality on the obligatory, no-cause "defoliation" https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/community/photons_corner/to-defoliate-or-not-to-defoliate/ Best info in dr photons corner that you can find anywhere. Along with dr. bruce bugbee (apogee instruments) videos on youtube. Surface area of leaves is the primary factor for yield. Removing leaves that would otehrwise contribute to the end result will only hurt you. This last grow i purposely bent some leaves over buds at a particular depth in canopy so i could compare it later one... guess what? the buds that were heavily looked exactly the same as all the other buds at that vertical height on the plant.. Apical dominance controls that because the sugars produced from photosynthesis are highly mobile... they are ever-present in the phloem if the plant is fed well, which is piped all over the plant at all times. too many mouths (method of fertilization/growing will impact this as some are more efficient than others) and too much depth in canopy will cause a higher percentage of larf relative to any parameters set by the genetics.

I’m not really for defoliating unless it’s necessary for airflow etc. in veg you can pretty much do it whenever. In flower I think it shouldn’t happen past the end of week 3 as to not stress the plant when it’s making buds. Exception is selective leaves here and there that could be blocking light but wouldn’t do anything more than that

Hey, I am a little bit worried about my plant. I would keep her for another 1-2 weeks as she still has some white hairs. But the problem is that shes very clustered and Im super worried about bud rod.[ Its day 73 at the moment.FastBuds writes that this plant takes about 8-10 week

I wrote this on another question but it applies all the same here. see the pasted reply below, Also breeder times can vary a lot. so grain of salt with that information, especially on autos: If your worried about rot keep up the airflow. Are these trichomes from the buds?? and if yes, where on the plant? The top most buds will ripen faster then the bottom ones and only trichomes on the buds should be looked at vs sugar leaves with regards to trichome ripeness. Judge your harvest window buy a few things. Trichome colours. Bud density and Pistils dry back. Ideally aorund 80% of the pistils have dried back, the buds and nice and dense and the plant is drinking less water now and not growing all that much, The trichomes are mostly milky with some amber in the mix. I like mine about 10% or less amber. The colour is degradation of cannaboids. more amber, more THC getting turned into CBN. Even cloudy has some degradation. You may also notice the plant is fading in the leaves as well. When looking at your plants in the diary I'd say another week or two. But even if you wanted to chop now. you would still be happy with the result of a the buds after a nice cure. Good looking plants you did well on this. Good Luck!
