Woo hoo- seed #3 seems to be happy and emerged. Seed #2 seems to be another bust like Seed #1, so this is a 1/3 success rate for this strain, not terribly great. But I'm optimistic :)
Sharing the same tent and conditions as two Green Gelato plants, but now one week behind in veg. Going to do what I can to flip everybody to flower at the same time.
- Tent temps and RH staying stable (67-75 degrees F, 72% RH)
- Watering each day with light nutrient solution, keeping soil moist
- Will mix in regular water every third day and keep checking runoff PPM and pH
5/11/24
- Tent conditions stable
- Second set of leaves coming in
- Runoff measured at 5.9 pH and 1020 PPM
- Lights at 350 PPFD at leaves
5/16/24
- After some initially slow growth, the plant is picking up a bit now
- Third and fourth set of leaves coming in, nodes starting to develop
- Roots visible in drain holes in bottom of cup, will repot in a couple of days after the new leaves can develop a bit more
- Runoff pH holding stable around 5.8 and PPM around 990
- Alternating 3 days of very light feed with 1 day of plain pH water with CalMag
- Leaves look healthy and green, no signs of burn or deficiencies, but some minor curling on first set of leaves
- Plant is much smaller than the Green Gelato plant in the same tent due to it starting a week later after the first pair of seeds failed to launch, but hopefully, it will be able to eb topped and trained on a similar schedule so they will both be able to get to the same height when flipping to 12/12
OK, well...
5 days later and the seeds that seemed to have happily germinated and were transferred to moist coco...have done nothing. The two Green Gelato seeds germinated at the same time and planted the same way popped right up in a couple of days, but not the White Widow. Dug down a bit and the first one had rotted, the second one looked clean and white, but no growth.
So, I covered it again a bit more loosely and kept the coco moist and have started germinating a second seed in moist paper towels to see if that will work, but it looks like this is starting over here and at least one of the initial seeds was a bust (and I don't have great hopes for the second one).
We'll see!
