Introduction - Week 10|03 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 9361.14, Had an interesting week of growing. There were issues with #3 (in the fabric pot). Pretty sure she’s stunted and has some root problems. She’s still the darkest in color and growth seems to have slowed down. On the positive side, the impressive growth for #4 (in the solo cup) has changed the way I will water seedlings and early vegging plants from now on. The growth is just explosive and watering in solo cups by weighing on a scale has been a perfect way to determine when to water. As #4 continues to grow bigger, going to need to determine when (and where) to transplant. Onwards to next week! [START OF WEEK 10|03] ========================================================== Garlic Budder #1 - WEEK 10|03 - Full Veg Wk1 Garlic Budder #2 - WEEK 10|03 - Seedling Garlic Budder #3 - WEEK 03 - Full Veg Wk1 Garlic Budder #4 - WEEK 02 - Pre-Veg 05/06/24 → 05/12/24 This Week's Estimated Goals ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DLI: ~19 mol/m²/d PPFD: ~300 μmol/m²/s VPD: ~1.0 kPa This Week's Meter Readings & Averages [Lights On: 16:00 - 10:00] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DLI: 19.12 mol/m²/d PPFD: 295 μmol/m²/s VPD: 0.81 kPa Soil %: [30.9, 28.7, 28.7, 36.6] ========================================================== Day 01 - Monday - 05/06/24 - Total Days: 070 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 79.3°F [26.3°C] - Humidity: 75.7% - VPD: 0.82 kPa - Soil %: [32, 26, 29, 30] ----------------------------------- - [22:56]: Evening check. --- Looking good! So far. --- #1 and #3 are still growing along great! #1 is definitely still ahead. #3 is lagging a bit, but still looking green. --- #2 is still growing along. --- #4 is getting bigger! In terms of size, she’s also looking closer to #3. - [23:04]: Using a spray bottle, --- Misted the top growth and straw mulch with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each). - [23:08]: Checked the humidifier. --- Tank was about half full. --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2gal). --- Based on growth, I think #3 is stunted, but will continue onwards. Day 02 - Tuesday - 05/07/24 - Total Days: 071 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 79.6°F [26.4°C] - Humidity: 75.5% - VPD: 0.84 kPa - Soil %: [31, 28, 29, 36] ----------------------------------- - [16:38]: Evening check. --- #1 is just exploding with growth! Nice and perky! --- #2 is really starting to take off now! Still a seedling, but growing along. --- #3 is still looking okay, but definitely drooping a bit. --- #4 is continuing to impress with more growth! She’s already kinda feeling on the lighter side. Plan to weigh her later to determine if she needs watering. --- First going to water all the larger containers with some microbes and saponins! - [16:57]: Filled a pitcher with 4 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] ------ Added 1/8tsp of Mycrobe Complete --- Mixed the solution before pouring it straight into a pump sprayer. - [17:04]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 31% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] --- 26% - [CH02 EB1 - Secondary] --- 29% - [CH03 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] --- 30% - [CH04 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- Also, prior to watering, covered all plants with humidity domes (#1, #2, and #3). --- Misted the straw mulch for both EarthBoxes and fabric pot. --- Then removed the humidity domes. - [17:14]: Took the weight of #4. --- She weighed 253.8g --- Her last dry weight was 254.9g before I watered 1/4cup of wetting solution. --- After watering, she weighed 317.7g --- Decided to water again. Please don’t frack this up! Please. --- Going with a similar wetting solution as last time. - [17:17]: Filled a measuring cup with 1/4 cup of distilled water. ------ Added a pinch of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] ------ Added 1/64tsp of Horticultural Coconut ------ Added 1/64tsp of Horticultural Aloe ------ Added 1/64tsp of Mycrobe Complete --- Mixed and poured the solution straight into a spray bottle. --- With the exception of #4, gently misted the top growth of all plants (~2-4 sprays each). - [17:20]: Poured the rest of the solution back into a measuring cup and topped it off with distilled water until the solution was 1/4 cup. --- Poured the diluted solution into a spray bottle. - [17:31]: Sprayed #4’s straw mulch. --- Focused on the straw mulch and tried to keep the top growth dry. --- This time there was no runoff. - [17:32]: Took the wet weight for #4 --- She weighed 319.2g (last wet weight was 317.7g) - [17:36]: Checked the humidifier. --- Tank was about half full. --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2gal). --- Well really hope I didn’t over-water. --- Probably won’t water again for the rest of the week. --- Don’t die on my ladies! Please. Day 03 - Wednesday - 05/08/24 - Total Days: 072 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 80.1°F [26.7°C] - Humidity: 76.7% - VPD: 0.81 kPa - Soil %: [31, 31, 29, 42] ----------------------------------- - [22:46]: Evening check. --- #1 is just taking off! Going to start bottom watering soon. --- #2 is still tiny but also looking green and growing along! --- #3 looks uniform, but slower in growth. Also compared to #1, she is definitely a darker shade of green. Pretty sure she’s stunted (most likely a watering issue). --- #4 is just crushing it in the solo cup! She’s still a bit lime in color, but wow growth is looking nice and happy! Also watering has been a lot easier so depending on transplanting goes, this may be my new way to start off the first few weeks of growth. - [22:48]: Using a spray bottle, --- Misted the top growth and straw mulch with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each). - [23:02]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 31% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] --- 30% - [CH02 EB1 - Secondary] --- 29% - [CH03 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] --- 41% - [CH04 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- Oops. May have overwatered the fabric pot? Just going to let the soil dry out. - [23:04]: Checked the humidifier. --- Tank was under half full. --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2.5gal). Day 04 - Thursday - 05/09/24 - Total Days: 073 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 80.3°F [26.8°C] - Humidity: 76.1% - VPD: 0.83 kPa - Soil %: [31, 30, 29, 39] ----------------------------------- - [16:23]: Evening check. --- #1 is just spreading out with growth! Without any training, she’s already filling the canopy with her leaves almost reaching the sides of the EarthBox. --- #2 is just getting started with growth. She looks perky and happy! --- #3 is looking green but also looks maybe stunted? I hope not. --- #4 is continuing to impress me with explosive growth! Just keep on growing girl! - [16:37]: Took general PPFD readings. --- #1 was around 314 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 20.35 mol/m²/d --- #2 was around 295 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 19.12 mol/m²/d --- #3 was around 304 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 19.70 mol/m²/d --- #4 was around 297 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 19.25 mol/m²/d - [16:42]: Took the weekly height and light distance measurements. --- #1 was about 4.5" tall. --- #2 was about 1.75" tall. --- #3 was about 2.5" tall. --- #4 was about 3.75" tall. --- #1 was about 25.75" away from the grow light. --- #2 was about 27.25" away from the grow light. --- #3 was about 24.75" away from the grow light. --- #4 was about 24.75" away from the grow light. --- Wow! --- #4 got tall fast! She’s already catching up with #1 in height. Really have to start to re-think how I’ve been watering these ladies. Based on #4’s growth, going to be growing in solo cups from now on! - [16:59]: Took #4’s total weight. --- She weighed 276.4g --- Her last weight was 319.2g (just after watering) --- It’s been two days since her last watering (~1/4 cup of solution) --- Her last dry weight before watering was 253.8g so going to wait another day or two. --- Watering by weight has been very helpful. Using a scale provides a quantifiable way to determine when to water. --- Time to mist the growth a bit! - [17:05]: Using a spray bottle, --- Misted the top growth and straw mulch of with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each). - [17:07]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 31% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] --- 30% - [CH02 EB1 - Secondary] --- 29% - [CH03 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] --- 41% - [CH04 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- Decided to bottom water both EarthBoxes. - [17:15]: Poured 2 cups of distilled water into both fill tubes. --- Will check back daily until the reservoirs are dry. - [17:19]: Checked the humidifier. --- Tank was pretty full. --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~1gal). Day 05 - Friday - 05/10/24 - Total Days: 074 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 80.2°F [26.8°C] - Humidity: 76.9% - VPD: 0.80 kPa - Soil %: [31, 29, 29, 38] ----------------------------------- - [22:26]: Evening check. --- #1 is continuing to get bigger! Looking good girl! --- #2 is going to be a runt, but growth still looks green and happy! --- #3 is looking stunted. Not much change in growth and her leaves are quite dark (toxicity?). --- #4 is blowing up with growth! Wow! Even though she’s a good two weeks behind, she has easily surpassed #3 in size and is about the same size as #1. Incredible! - [22:28]: Checked down both fill tubes. --- Both reservoirs were completely dry! - [22:33]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 30% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] --- 29% - [CH02 EB1 - Secondary] --- 28% - [CH03 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] --- 38% - [CH04 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- Decided to bottom water both EarthBoxes again. - [22:34]: Poured 2 cups of distilled water into both fill tubes. --- Will check back daily until the reservoirs are dry. - [22:39]: Took #4’s total weight. --- She weighed 247.5g --- Her last weight was 276.4g (yesterday) --- It’s been three days since her last watering (1/4 cup of solution) --- Her last dry weight before watering was 253.8g so going to water tonight! - [22:41]: Using a spray bottle, --- Misted the top growth and straw mulch of with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each). - [22:47]: Checked the humidifier. --- Tank was about half full. --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2gal). --- Oops! --- Okay time to water #4! --- Watering in some microbes and saponins. - [23:01]: Filled a measuring cup with 1/4 cup of distilled water. ------ Added a pinch of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] ------ Added 1/64tsp of Mycrobe Complete --- Mixed the solution before pouring it straight into a spray bottle. - [23:10]: Sprayed #4’s straw mulch. --- Focused on the straw mulch. --- There was no runoff. - [23:13]: Took the wet weight for #4 --- She weighed 303.1g (last wet weight was 319.2g) --- Really digging the ease of watering in a solo cup! --- Also the growth is continuing to impress! --- Depending on how easy #4’s transplant goes, solo cups are the new way to start off from now on. Day 06 - Saturday - 05/11/24 - Total Days: 075 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 80.7°F [27.1°C] - Humidity: 77.4% - VPD: 0.80 kPa - Soil %: [30, 29, 28, 37] ----------------------------------- - [20:24]: Evening check. --- #1 is growing along nice and green! She’s continuing to reach towards the sides of the EarthBox. --- #2 is growing slowly, but looking green. --- #3 looks about the same. --- #4 is starting to take over this grow! She’s looking perfectly uniform in growth with green healthy growth. - [20:34]: Using a spray bottle, --- Misted the top growth and straw mulch of with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each). - [20:37]: Checked down both fill tubes. --- EB1’s reservoir was dry! --- EB2’s reservoir still had some water. - [20:48]: Checked the humidifier. --- Tank was pretty full. --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~1.25gal). Day 07 - Sunday - 05/12/24 - Total Days: 076 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~23:00] - Temps: 80.8°F [27.1°C] - Humidity: 77.4% - VPD: 0.80 kPa - Soil %: [30, 28, 28, 34] ----------------------------------- - [18:58]: Evening check. --- #1 is growing great and looking good! --- Both #2 and #3 are growing along. #3 is still stunted. --- Wow! #4 is looking incredible! --- She has clearly surpassed #3 in canopy growth and is catching up with #1 in height. Wow! - [19:11]: Took #4’s total weight. --- She weighed 245.8g --- It’s only been 2 days since her last watering (1/4 cup of solution) --- Her last dry weight before watering was 247.5g so time to water! --- Time to water! - [19:30]: Filled a measuring cup with 1/2 cup of distilled water. ------ Added a pinch of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] ------ Added 1/64tsp of Horticultural Coconut ------ Added 1/64tsp of Horticultural Aloe ------ Added 1/32tsp of Mycrobe Complete --- Mixed and poured the solution straight into a spray bottle. --- With the exception of #4, gently misted the top growth of all plants (~3-5 sprays each). - [19:44]: Time to water #4 with some solution! --- While on a scale, --- Gently misted #4’s straw mulch. --- Focused on the straw and tried to keep the top growth dry. --- Part way through watering, there was a bit of runoff. --- Dried up the run off and let the cup sit a bit before spraying more. - [19:53]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed 320.3g --- Sprayed just over 1/4 cup. --- Looking back at my logs, the heaviest I ever got the cup to weigh was 319.2g --- Since she is larger now, I’m pretty confident that she’s not over-watered. --- Misted the rest of the solution onto the straw mulch of the EarthBoxes and fabric pot. - [19:54]: Placed #4 back into the tent. --- Re-positioned #4 and placed her a bit closer to the center of the tent. - [20:02]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 30% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] --- 28% - [CH02 EB1 - Secondary] --- 28% - [CH03 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] --- 34% - [CH04 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] - [20:06]: Checked the humidifier. --- Tank was about half full. --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2gal). --- Well, probably should transplant #4 soon. The growth is just raging! [END OF WEEK 10|03]

@gottagrowsometime, Thanks growmie! Yea, sometimes I can get a bit too detailed, but this is all just for fun! Been using Ac Infinity's Thermoforge T3 heater for just over 2 weeks and have to say that it's the best! Highly recommend! The unit easily heats a 4x4ft grow tent along with my 10x10ft lung room. Keep in mind that it never snows where I live, but it can get pretty cold in the winter (Southern California - US). What's most impressive is that in combination with the Cloudforge T7, my overall weekly VPD averages have been a lot more stable! Also the day to night temp swings have been greatly reduced (less than 10 degrees/percent difference on the weekly temps/RH averages).
