You may laugh at my germination methods, I was taught this over 40 years ago and have used this technique since. It has NEVER failed me, just be sure you wait 20 minutes after smoking to inflate zip lock. You only need a drop or two of bleach, no more. Back in the day when seeds were VERY expensive I was too nervous to try anything else. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Bred by BOG Seeds, Sour Strawberry crosses [Sour Bubble] with [Strawberry Cough], Razz, and [East Coast Sour Diesel]. Popular as an extract due to its high resin production and flavor profile of strawberries, diesel, and citrus, Sour Strawberry is a great choice for consumers looking for a potent full-body strain.
This the late great Bog's own description of the 'Kush' phenotype.
"The Sour Strawberry Kush Phenotype may be the most desirable clone I have ever grown! I shit you not. She rivals my queen and I am very thankful to have another gift to share. First let me say that my Sour Strawberry has a few problem children but I saw no male flowers ever on any of them. It is variable but you can't complain about variations like these. This is exactly the phenotype I set out to create. It has an equal portion of Kush and Strawberry and it retains the powerful high of Sour Bubble. From the start this one grew taller even though cloned at the top like the others. She ignored it and grew another top cola unlike the others. As good yielding as the Fruity Pebbles phenotype, but OMG! Do you hear me? Come to Seattle and try this shit. With excellent growth and branching I was hoping she would be the one. A true Strawberry Kush that nobody can deny. If you want something that can't be beat even by the best then find this one. I (Bog) don't lie and I don't need to make them sell faster. Get some. Oh yeah...potency of high in body is 8. Potency in head is 9. Taste is 9.9 so if I ever taste anything better that will get a ten but I doubt very much that anything could taste better."
It is a new world...BOG
This is why I had to try one more time!!! I wanted to increase my chances of getting the 'Kush' phenotype so I started with 14 seeds. Germination went really well, 14/14.
Sorry about the error, these are not sour strawberry seedlings. I got the pictures confused with sour bubble. I actually don't have many pictures of sour strawberry in vegetative stage, I have many in flower. I'll post all the flower pictures until I do a documented cab grow from start to finish. I grow in small spaces using LED and SCROG, there's really not much to see until flower stage and even then it's many of medium buds instead of huge colas. I'd love to see these grow in different conditions and larger space. The original 14 plants were 10 females, 4 males. I culled 2 females and flowered 8, growing 4 each in 2 gallon pots. There were 2 main phenotypes, the 'creme' and 'kush'. If I didn't have the kush pheno I would be satisfied with the creme phenotype, however NOTHING compares to the kush pheno, she stands out above the rest, indicating her razzle berry genetics in the purple leaves at harvest. She's a beautiful bud!.
I've identified 10 females from 14 plants. They are all growing well, there is one runty slow growing plant and another female with some male flowers. These were culled which left me with 8 sour strawberry females to evaluate. There currently growing in .5Q grow bags. The plants were grown to this point under 5K Full Spectrum LED with EJ Sea-blast at 1/2 strength every other watering.
We are about D35 of vegetative and I'm ready to flower the sour strawberry. I'll place 4 females in a (2) 3 gallon grow bag. They'll be grown in front row with 6 BB#3 in the back. They're really stout and I've kept them shorter under 5K full spectrum. Not much to see yet, but they are really nice looking plants. I can't believe I had 10 females for 14 seeds!
D14 of flower and plants are doing great. there are 2 females that I don't like based on growth pattern and bud size, these were culled leaving 6 females to evaluate. The plants have stretched quite a bit under my 3K full spectrum, not too bad though, moderate. They all look to be about the same in size and plant structure, one is slightly larger. There's not much smell either.
D41 of flower and we are down to 2 main phenotypes, the Kush and Creme. The kush pheno is easily identified by purple in the leaves later in flower. I've taken samples and am blown away by the kush pheno. It taste really good at D41 and isn't that harsh. I feel effects on exhale and detect berry tones, a very nice sample. The creme pheno is tasty, but not as good at this point and is a little harsh early. The color in the leaves appeared last week, I think that's a razzle berry trait. I've taken clones and can't wait to do a proper grow, start to finish.
D50 of flower and we're nearing the finish. the creme pheno looks to be about ready in a few days, the kush pheno is 6-8 days away. The smell is intoxicating with a REAL strawberry smell. There's not much left on the kush pheno, I've been ;sampling' her quite a bit, it taste so good and makes me feel good even at early stage, this is some awesome smoke!!! the creme ain't bad, it just doesn't compare. I understand why Bog loved this so much, it's really a special pheno.
D55 and I'm about ready to chop what's left of my prize mom. I've already chopped the creme pheno, she finishes earlier and is hanging up to dry. The clones have taken well and I'm planning on a larger grow with 9 plants. I've made cookies from the other females, they didn't impress me, but smelled really nice, smoke was average. i would say the creme pheno would be good by itself if you didn't have the kush pheno, so there are 2 keeper phenos in these beans. It took me 2 runs and 27 seeds to get the prize
