Greetings everyone! *Basically, this diary was never going to exist. Due to the lack of Utopia Haze (UH) diaries - and I am just so impressed by these genetics - I decided I will share my UH grow. *I have started the grow with: 2 x Super Lemon Haze (SLH) (separate diary); 2 x UH (focus of this diary); 1 x Royal Queen Seeds Diesel (Auto); 1 x Mephisto Alien v triangle (Auto) *I use: Biogrow; Biobloom; Amino acids; Humic Acids; Fulvic acids; Silica; Kelp Extract; Lemon Juice (pH down);Gypsum + Epsom salts (CalMag + Sulphur); 6:20:30 + micros fertiliser. *The amounts used will be shown according to the appropriate week. *I use a custom made soil/soiless mix: 40% coco coir; 40% bark mulch; 20% Perlite. *I hand-made my light for $70 total. 384 true watt LED, 80cmx80cm with each square of lights being 30cmx30cm. I wanted optimal, even light spread and coverage. Day 1: Emergence The little girls have popped their heads out of the soil! Welcome to Earth! Prior to what I considered "Day 1", all the seeds were placed under wet tissue paper for 48 hours. UH#1 was the fastest to sprout; sprouted in less than 24 hours. UH#2, and SLH#1 sprouted after approximately 36 hours. Diesel + AvT sprouted just under 48 hours. Planted into 100ml soil medium. Placed under 85w CFL 6500K. Day 2 I sprayed the seedlings with water + kelp extract (kelpak) solution. You will notice an empty container; SLH#2 hadn’t popped yet. (more info on that in the SLH diary) Day 4 Sprayed the seedlings with water+kelpak solution. The second set of leaves growth just starting to show. Day 5 Poorley taken photo; attempted to show the new growth tip.

Day 21 Left the girls to dry out a bit more. They appeared to be over watered; seeing signs of droopiness. Day 22 Water the girls with 2ml/L Biobizz grow + 10 ml/L Kelpak. Still don’t know the reason for the droopiness.

*From here on out, days will be a lot more detailed (no lost photos and information etc). *To summarize what has happened so far: -Only ¼ SLH seeds popped . . . In order to compensate, I germinated another UH seed to fill in for the lack of another SLH seed. Maybe I got an unlucky pack. -UH #2 & 3 stayed the same size for 4 weeks; I figured it was bad luck in the genetics OR I had made a big mistake. Turns out it was indeed the latter; I had compacted the grow medium by over watering, thus preventing UH#2 & 3 from further growing out their roots. I gave them plant CPR (I took them out of their containers and removed the grow medium from their root ball. I then replanted them in the same containers but with a not so wet grow medium). I guess the oxygen blast + lighter medium restarted them; they began to grow again :) ) -UH # 1 is my prize girl. She has been telling me she wants to live since the day she germinated (she cracked her shell and showed her root in under 24 hours!) and has been growing well ever since. She is the largest of the 4 plants I have kept (SLH#1 being the 2nd largest lady). Even when hit with an aphid attack, under watering/feeding, and underwatering, she has never stopped growing. The SLH took a hit with the underfeeding, but neither girls suffered from the aphids ( I spotted them early on, and used an organic pesticide to keep them under control until the Silica I had been feeding the girls worked its magic. -UH#1 and SLH#1 were both transplanted from 1.5L containers to 56L containers . . . 15 gallons haha at the end of week 4. Over kill I know, but I’m glad I did that as I had to compensate for the fact I only had 2 large girls in my tent instead of 4. I extended their veg time to 12 weeks in order for them to utilize the full 15 gallons of medium. -Both UH#1 and SLH#1 were subjected to Fimming; since it was my first time fimming, I failed miserably. I repeated my fims numerous times. I ended up what I call ‘Super Fimming’ the UH#1, and essentially topping the SLH. By super fim, I mean I got 9 main colas growing out from her; her side branches exploded in growth.

Just a picture to show the UH is showing off her sex ::) (The picture contained sensitive information that needed to be hidden ;) ). So far, everything is going fine with the grow; healthy plants, and healthy growth.

I started using a 6:20:30 fertilizer as I noticed the girls were showing a bit of a phosphor/calcium deficiency. Started using gypsum and Epsom salts to compensate for the lack of sulphur/calcium and in conjunction with the 6:20:30 fertilizer for some magnesium.

Nothing much happening, just letting the girls fill up the net a bit more. Their cut off time for vegging is 12 weeks so yeah . . . just letting them be :)

Final week! They are still filling up the net, and I’ve been tucking them for nearly 4 weeks. I made the cut off time 12 weeks and I’m sticking to it. I am happy with the way things have gone though; both girls responded well to the net training.

First week of flower! So I actually had to leave for a week, so I never got any pictures in . . . I just upped the 6:20:30 fertilizer a bit, but still wanted a lot of nitrogen in my nutrients since I guess that, since the ladies will stretch, they are going to need the nitrogen as if in veg state (my research agreed with me on that).

*From here on out, pictures are a lot more frequent and numerous. *Those “spots” on the leaves are not fungus; I accidently sprayed my girls with nutrient solution, and it left these stains. The leaves are perfectly healthy, and so are the ladies. I basically arrived back after the end of week 1, water my girls, and then left for another week. I did manage to get in a few photos this time. The girls are stretching quite nicely towards the light, and I’m happy with how tightly packed their nodes are. Only a weak smell coming through; I’m fine with that. I also checked: the moth was a non-pest species so I didn’t do anything to it.

Week 3 :) I started using a 1:1 ratio of Bio Grow and Bio Bloom, as well as ramping up the amount of 6:20:30 fertilizer used. I water 9L to the SLH, and 12 L to the UH. I forgot to mention that they are in fabric pots. I only have to water every 7-9 days, which I am very happy with. I gave a light defoliation before the switch to flower; after 3 weeks, I cleaned up the remainder of what I wanted to do: I cleaned off ¼ of the plant (half of everything below the net). I left half below the net on because, after I harvest the top of the net, I will lower the light and let the bottom buds get another 2 weeks of light to try and increase my harvest a bit (doing all I can to compensate for not having the 4 plants I wanted originally) Bio

Into week 4 now. The ladies are just soaking up the rays and filling out quite nicely. It’s starting to get very cold, so I’ve insulated my tent to help keep heat in the tent. I haven’t changed the feeding; still 9L to the SLH and 12L to the UH#1.

TL DR; The UH got some bananas, but I believe it’s my fault (too cold), and I am keeping her. So, while taking some pictures of my ladies, everything was fine and dandy until I noticed some peculiar yellow spots on the UH . . . As it turns out, she seems to have sprouted some naners :( . My educated guess is because of cold stress; the water temps are quite low, as well as night time temps (14 and 16 C respectively). The evidence to support this is that the UH leaves are turning purple (week 7 has some clear pictures of the purpling), and obviously the temps have been recorded to be quite low. The SLH seems to be taking the cold with no issue, but that’s because she is the smaller plant as well as not being a bit more off centered from the intake fan. Not only is the intake fan blowing in cold, outside air but at the same time, the airflow generated blows away the heated air from the lights. Normally, people would blame the genes for the naners but neither of the 2 runts have bananas, and they are the furthest from the intake fan (so less airflow blowing away the heated air generated by the lights). So I came to the conclusion that, since the UH#1 lady is the biggest plant in the tent and positioned the closest to the intake fan, she is taking the brunt of the cold temperatures and it is too much stress for her, therefore the bananas are MY fault and not necessarily the fault of the breeder. I have taken clones of the UH#1 lady, so next grow I will have 2 x UH#1 plants, and can test whether it is genes or just because of the stress factors I allowed the UH#1 lady to experience (yes, I studied in the BSc field, so I approach things with an open and enquiring mind haha). Since the UH#1 lady is basically ¾ of my green canopy, I decided I will keep her and grow her out. She has 5 weeks to go, and a lot of the pistils are already turning red (aka they won’t be able to accept pollen), and there is always the off chance she is firing blanks :) in the mean time, I will keep plucking out the bananas as well as monitor the situation for any seed development. On a side note, I changed up the nutrients a bit to reduce the nitrogen content of the solution and get in more PK. 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👻

Nothing much to report this week. The ladies are packing on weight and size quite nicely; while UH#1 is smaller in cola size to SLH, she makes up for it in having 13(!) main colas, where as the SLH has only 3. The SLH has good, dense flowers; it has nothing on the UH in terms of density though. The UH#1 is feels like a rock; I have to put in some effort in order to even make a dent in her 💪😍. It’s looks real good for big yields come harvest time! I also increased the Bio Bloom, as well as the supplements (acids). I want these girls to keep eating, and keep packing on weight.

*B = Beginning of week 7, E = end of week 7 in the photos End of week 7! Ladies are still going strong and steady; temperatures seem to have picked up the last few days so that’s good news, it isn’t so cold at night. Day time temps hover at around 25 at the flowers so I am happy with that. No new bananas or any seed development found so I’m feeling confident about the UH #1. She truly is a big lady; the SLH is stealing the show with her big donkey dick buds, but she is about 1/3 the size of the UH #1 and the UH #1 flowers are still dense as a rock! I’m excited; 3-4 more weeks then these ladies are coming down! SLH starting to pick up a lot more red pistils; trichomes are still cloudy/clear, no amber yet. I am still trying to find some monopotassium phosphate in my area to give the girls the final boost they need; I will compensate with increased bio bloom and 6:20:30 fertilizer for next watering in week 8.

Well that’s week 8 all wrapped up! Still no luck with monopotassium phosphate, but I did manage to find phosphor at least; better than nothing. I will use it in the watering at the beginning of week 9, and then I will keep checking the trichomes to see if these ladies will be ready by the end of week 10. I would be surprised if they are since breeders normally understate the flowering time, but I believe the girls will be 100% ready by end of week 11, if not a bit sooner. I will do a half strength feed for week 10 and 11; I honestly believe “flushing” is just broscience. Why would you starve your girl of nutrients in the final phases of her life? I believe that a full flush (no nutrient water) is a waste; rather, I will half the feed strength so that the water will pick up the remaining nutrients in the medium and the ladies can use that up. Then another half/quarter feed so she doesn’t starve but rather go hungry (and hence less stress on the girls as well as a more natural form of self-cannibalization). 👌👽 Starting to see amber trichomes but only on a few of the sugar leaves; nothing on the calyxes yet. The trichomes are still cloudy/clear from what I can see, but a lot more have cloudyed up. The smell is amazing; thankfully I chose similar scented strains and it’s just so . . . for lack of a better word, dank! Pungent citrus and lime overtones😷, with some skunky funk and earthy undertones: opening that tent door just smacks you with this smell haha. UH #1 leaves have been getting progressively darker; over 80% are now dark purple. It is a pleasant surprise to see it; I thought at first there was some issues haha but turns out it’s just the cold bringing out the purple in her genetics. I’m hoping by harvest time the leaves on the buds themselves will have purpled up. The runts are going at a good pace too, so I will get some bud off of them at least (3 different seeds, so I am interested in their phenos.) UH#2 seems to have a different phenotype compared to UH#3 and UH#1. SLH just keeps going; I am concerned that she is starting to foxtail though. It might be genetics because my temps don’t get even close to being too hot so, eh, we see what happens. To me it looks like she has decreased in bud volume; she looks a lot more airy now. I’ve been monitoring the banana situation with the UH#1 and I’ve only been able to find one half formed seed that I removed. Other than that, the calyxes seem to be swollen from ripening up, not seeds. I’m quite happy about that. The temptation to chop her down already is so strong; she smells extremely delicious! But I’ve come this far, so I will hold out and give my ladies all the time they need. 😇

Bit of a disaster :( It seems an exhaust fan broke in the carbon filter, and air was no longer being taken out of the tent. As a result, temps have been hitting 34 at the flower! Nigh time has been hitting 5 degrees; that’s also a problem. It was only 2 days I assume that the filter was broken, as it this happened in around 2 days lol. I have since raised the light up, and replaced the extraction fan. I will be chopping next week; I know you should add 2 weeks onto breeder’s flowering time, but trichomes are mostly milky and my buds have been damaged. I want her down asap, and save what I can. It’s not too bad; just the tips got burnt. I can just blast all of that so it’s not a big worry. All the girls still looking well apart from the burn. I’m excited for harvest next week! I gave the girls a P boost in last watering; for last week I will do a half / quarter feed, followed by 24 hours of darkness. After that, I will leave the bottom nuggs for another week or 2, depending on how they look.👻

HHarvest day! I decided to chop both ladies down after 10 (70) days of flowering. I know you should add 2 weeks to breeder stated flowering time, but in week 9 I figured the UH#1 lady was damaged badly, and I didn’t want to risk going 11 weeks in case the conditions worsened. Near the end of week 10, trichomes were 90% cloudy, 5% clear, and 5% amber on both the SLH and UH#1. As I want the effects to be ‘head high’ (hence growing sativas), I figured this is perfect trichome ratios. I intended to water + feed at the beginning of week 10, but it seems the girls had enough water still to go without further watering and feeding. This, again, is perfect as it meant the ladies ate up everything remaining in the medium, and even started to go a bit hungry. After 70 days, I put them into darkness for 24 hours (so the ladies kept their sugars in their roots, as well as give them one last ditch effort at squeezing out some resin) and kept temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius. They were harvested straight afterwards. The trim was turned into some live BHO resin, and let me tell you . . . Delicious! These ladies smell fire👌, and I can’t wait for the drying to be done! One of the SLH donkey dicks weighed in at 232 g wet . . . so I have a good feeling I should get over 200g dry. I will post the dry results next week in the harvest section, as well as a conclusion to the grow. Note: it took 2 people over 4 hours to trim, and it still wasn't finished, hence the poor trim job on some of the buds. Don't hate👽 You get tired of it afte a while haha.
