Plants getting a little leggy so lowered the lights. I have two Phillips grow bulbs for seedlings, these bulbs suck but it gets them going enough to make it to my larger light.
Transplanted into homemade SIP (self irrigated planter). It’s a 5 gallon pail with a hole cut in the bottom for a yoghurt container to rest in. The yoghurt container (the wick) sits below the 5 gal pail and it drops into a reservoir which is a 25 litre plastic bin full of water. This self waters the plants.
If memory serves me correct I didn’t add more water for something like 35-40 days.
I am running into nutrient lockout, it’s from my reservoir having too low of ph. One plant is yellowing bad. Was using LAB as my ph down, I think it was down about ph of 5, too low for this setup.
Used sand on top of pot to eliminate fungus knats. They are really happy and healthy. I got rid of the LAB in the reservoir as it makes it smell bad. Started using ph down in reservoir, takes a couple of days for ph to stabilize at around 6 instead of 5. Went with 5 originally because it prevents unwanted growth in reservoir but that’s not the case. I found there wasn’t any bacterial or fungal growth in the tank with PH down and tap water so that’s what I use going forward.
Topped them a few times in the last few weeks, going with a hybrid of ways for training, not mainlining but more like LBH’s 4 way LST. Flipped to flower on day 45.
Fertilizing with Root Farm 4-0-1 and 1-4-7. Took plant out of reservoir and found some balls at the midpoint of the plant, stressed to much makes balls I guess.
Removed balls from one plant, going to take my chances and finish flowering it. Definitely two phenos, a musky eucalyptus pheno that has a more indica bud and a strong citrus pheno with more spire type sativa buds. Pretty much the same as Med Tropics diary so far from his Cannabooms
I took some lower buds off and took them to a place where they have a purpl pro tester to test cbd and thc levels.
The more sativa pheno and the more indica pheno are both 14% CBD and less than 2% THC. It won’t register anything less than 2% so it could be anywhere between 0 to 1.9%
I’m pretty happy with the results, this should be good medicine.
The sativa pheno is really citrusy smelling and the more indica has changed to a minty smell. It’s interesting the genetics for Cannaboom is the same genetics as Ringo’s Gift which smells and tastes like mint, I’m thinking this is it.
The more sativa pheno really put on some weight this week, had to tie it up and support it. This strain is really easy to grow, it’s been the least temperamental of the strains I’ve grown. It takes nutrients easily and stays dark green and has been a joy to grow so far.
This wasn’t a fussy plant to grow other than it hermied on me, most likely from stress that I did to it like topping or light leak which I had at one point. The balls only appeared at one or two node sets which made looking for them easy.
This plant wasn’t all that large but produced an abundance of bud. It had a bit of a rough transplant which knocked a few days of growth off of it. Strong branches made for not much additional support required.
It took 72 days from flip to harvest, much sooner than the sativa pheno.
It vegged for 45 days.
I did LBH’s four way LST and ended up with 6 main branches. Really easy to grow this way for this particular pheno.
This is getting close to harvest, another few days I think. Smells like oranges/citrus. 99% of pistils have turned orange and calyxes are swelling. Getting a few amber trichomes on the top buds.
I’m seeing a little amber on these buds. 13 weeks of flower so far in the books. This is a really easy grow to grow strain, plant is green from top to bottom even this late in flower. The leaves are just barely changing color and there are trichomes quite a ways down on the fan leaves. Colas are very long and it stacked really well making for a very nice looking plant. Very frosty too. Next up is evaluating the effects, can’t wait!
I really liked this plant, long colas that stacked up well. Will post dried weight when their done drying.
Really nice relaxed effect. Weight dry is 176 grams.
