Hey everyone, First time grow from last year. Ive come across this very helpfull site so i figured id share my grow and some of what ive learned along the way.
I was not planning to grow but i found 4 seeds in my meds when i was on the back porch rolling one up. At the time i was growing a pepper plant outback that i just watered and said what the heck and planted 2 of the 4 seeds. On 4/20 both poped up through the soil. Of course the little kid in me got very excited so i planted the other 2 seeds indoors. On 5/4 the 2 indoor seeds poped up through soil.
New home for the ladies. All 4 are now under 1 LED 450w ViparSpectra full spectrum at 3' above plants.
Soil = Fox Farms Ocean Forrest
3gal smart pots
Nutrients = Fox Farms line grow big, big bloom, tiger bloom
Cabinet is all set up now with 4"Can fan and Can filter
Plants seem to be doing OK. I started to attemp LST that i seen on youtube. Feeding is 1 gal for all 4 plants, Light feed half of the dose on the nutrient poster that fox farm has.
Plants are doing good. Every now and then the cabinet gets to 81 / 82 but then goes back down to 75/76 after an hour or so. I open the doors to cool off when i can.
At this time i was watering 1 time per 5 days 1/2 gal each and still 1/2 the nutrients as recommended on poster.
This is were some of my dates may be off a bit but ill do my best to show the growth time line.
Had what i think was a shortage of cal/mag. So i added more next feeding. Some stems were purple and other leafs were rusty looking on the bottom half of plant. Top new growth was looking great.
I flushed with about 30 gallons untill water turned clear & cleaned her up before flipping to 12/12 flower stage.
Added "Sweet" by Raw into the feedings. Plants seem very healthy to me as a beginner. No issue's with any bugs & dont see any deficiencies besides the top half of each stem to the water leafs is purple. Cal Mag maybe?
The ladies all look great, The smell is very fruity and the little 4"CanFan works great with getting rid of smell. After pics i flushed with roughly 40 gal of PH 6.3 house water, Water temp was 69.8 with 117 PPM going in. After final flush i measered runoff at PH 5.79 & 214 PPM out.
This grow ended OK. The grow was very exciting and rewarding.
Things i learned:
Switching light from sun to LED stunted the plants for about 3 weeks and the plants were noticeably smaller throughout the grow even though there were about 14 days or so older.
I used Fox Farm soil and the soil was good to get through most of Veg stage without many nutrients if at all. When i started the feeding the plants responded great and loved it.
The LED light i thought did great at 450w (200w or so from wall) for 4 plants in a 2x3 cabinet. Next time i will add more light to see if i can improve the size and thickness of the fruit.
Watering schedule was feed/water/water. Every 5 days the soil was dry for about 2 inches down from the top. I water slowly as to not mess the top layer up and expose roots. 1 gal of water was just right with very little run off.
I think i should have let them go for an other week because i dont think the flush worked very well or i cut them to early. The taste is greate but it smells like hay. When i cut them down the tricombs were all cloudy with 90% cloudy & 10% being amber. The one thing is that there were very few yellow leafs so i think that has something to do with the hay smell. ***Its now been over a year and it still smells like hay & still tastes great.00000
