All six seeds from The Real Seed Company germinated after 4 days in seed starter pods At second week the tallest are tipping over due to early stretch.

First week of flower. Male pre-flowers detected on two plants. Big sativa stretch with the onset of flowering. Bending stems and keeping a close light distance for now. This is a strain you could grow eight foot trees with if you wanted to. Probably a good outdoor strain. I just want to make seeds and get this grow over. That mature skunk was just beginning to get it's reveg on when I had to go to 12. I tried to make this week 1 of flower but when I did it deleted my week 1 of veg. Not the way I would design this site!

Nanda Devi at 3-4 weeks since soaking seeds. One seedling had a bit of trouble and is supported with a popsicle stick. Had trouble standing then I accidentally left it out in the direct sun for too long. It seems to be recovering. This is early veg, where the root ball formation takes place. Watering schedule and over watering issues usually emerge around this time. So trying not to be overeater for now.

Week 4. Six top grow points in canopy, all should finish together. The plant that kept tipping over and that had such a rough time getting started has a mutated leaf. There is some pheno variation: Two of the plants had five leaves at node 2 and the other four had three leaves at node 2. See pics. Also one mature skunk has been top chopped and the base branches will be re-vegged. Thus mature skunk starts getting 16 hours of light starting today along with vegging nutes. If it gets fertilized by a male Nanda Deva then those seeds will be skunk Deva. But the main objective is to breed the Nanda Deva. The skunk just kind of got it n the way.

Not sure if theres a name for it but extreme temperatures, over watering, or other environmental stresses could cause plants to mutate. Even unusual photoperiods can also result in leaf pattern changes.

Here we have full ignition if the main sequence phase in the veg cycle. It is a matter if conducting a controlled burn out to bring firth a couple hundred seeds or so of Himalayan Sativa. Note the multiple Pheno types among the six breeders. That almost presents a couple issues, doesn't it? It certainly all is sativa with one possible exception when you compare the lot. I don't really want to get all into my thought processes at the moment. I want you to look at the photos and feedback on it. If anyone is interested I'll pay out the raw plan here. For now here is the update

In full main sequence veg mode with these. The mature skunk is showing signs of foxtail so it's switched to veg mode. Also noticed that I have four, neatly alike, desirable pheno's among the Nanda Deva breeder's and two that are very different, one a dwarf that is showing signs of nitrogen overdose probably from too much worm castings in it's soil and the other one is a giant, the giant has very large everything and a hollow, flexible stem. It giant seems hempy like it is making a twelve foot tree, the dwarf is a little bit indica looking and cants find its way out if it's pot. It is also a deeper shade of green from nitrogen which is stunting the plant because it's root system won't bother growing because the soil is so nitrogen fixed in that particular pot. Also did minor defoliation.

I have stepped the light cycle from 17 to 14 hours as we approach flowering. No pre flowers yet, no sex determination yet. The tall hempy one is being trained with bent stem. The short one is stretching slightly and is very lush and green. All of the leaves are green, no yellows, no spots, no issues, perfect leaves on all plants The Skunk, the mature plant that I harvested and included in the grow as a reveg, is fox tailing. Re-vegging has started. But I will be going to 12 Hours again soon so it will probably just re-flower itself a bit as it fox tails. That will be fine... So we go to 12 and my be into flowering, soon. Then breed them and aft3 that remove the males and we'll see what we have. Nanda Deva seems like a useful, small Sativa for growers. You could cross it with something like skunk or any hybrid you are trying to move towards the sativa side. It seems to be manageable growth wise and size wise

Not much to update this week. Did a defoliation. Went from 14 to 13 hours in the light. I will be at 12 hours next week. Plants all in perfect health. Update :May 15:: I have discovered one if my plants, the first one to germinate, has a set if pre flowers with ball and stem structure. So I have at least one male and this plant has an almost perfect pheno type. If correct, this is my alpha breeder. My eyes could be interpreting the stem and ball feature wrongly and it could still be female after all. But it is a ore flower and I think it's male.

Week 2 of flower for the bulk grow. The big male is on week 3. When I tried adding week 1 of flower the software overwrite my week 1 of veg. I can't believe this wasn't fixed long ago Maybe Grow diaries wasn't deved by real growers... I believe I have two male and four female Nanda Devi plants. Most are in preflower. Will get confirmation in a week or two. There is also the re-vegged skunk plant which I hope to cross with this 50:50 THC/CBD Himalayan Sativa strain. One plant is muting. So maybe the HVd hop virus. But I think it just has too much worm castings mixed in with the soil. You would think that Landrace seeds from the Indian edge of the Himalayan range would be free from viruses. I suspect the virus outbreak the big California growers are experiencing is from using feminized seeds and cloning then. You have to mix it up and use regular breeding methods for a healthy immune system, I suspect The goal remains the same: produce a lot of regular, wild seeds. Would blend right in with that Iowa ditch weed. If you want to do guerrilla gardening outdoors, this would be a good one for that!

The male has been doing its job. Especially at night. Shedding pollen on the leaves. Always new pollen for me to apply to the target buds when I wake up in the morning. This grow will produce Nanda Devi and Skunk Devi seeds for my little seed collection. Week 4 of flowering. I can pull the male soon. I already will have seeds. Update same morning: pulled the male. There will be many seeds.

Week 5 flower, week 1 seeds. Seeds are forming. Five weeks out from harvesting. There will be plenty of Nanda Devi seeds and some skunk Devi seeds from the mature skunk that was re vegged from the last grow.

Week 6 flower. Week 2.5 seeds. Lots of seeds, every plant. Nanda Devi as well as Skunk Devi. I think they need about 4 more weeks for good seeds. I'll have a few ounces from this run. But a LOT of seeds which is the main objective. The one plant with nitrogen burn has been removed from the grow and relocated outdoors. It isn't doing anything. There will be no more following that plant even if it ever recovers. It just got hammered by nitrogen and is in a long coma. I went ahead and sampled some of the skunk. It has one bud available for pilfering. It tasted real smooth, while wet, in the bong and is mildly potent, CBN effect. I will probably harvest my seeds in one month from now and then start a new grow.

Not much change. Seeds take time. If I had not pollinated these plants I'd probably go ahead and harvest this. I included a video. Suggestions are welcome. I can't shoot without the grow light so sorry for that.

Just waiting for seeds. Looks like I already have some. Recovered one Skunk Devi seed a few days ago. It soaked it and after 24 hours it finally sank to the bottom. It's in a damp napkin now. I can harvest anytime I want and I'll have at least some Nanda Devi and Skunk Devi seeds. I'll wait at least one more week. Probably needs two more weeks or even three or four to get a massive amount of good seeds. So no hurry. I am at about week 8!of flower and week 6 of seed. The skunk is ready with seeds. Update Friday AM I pulled a lower bud to check the seeds. A couple look good. They are still too green. Another week or two I'll do better.

I'm breeding Nanda Devi, a sativa from Indian Himalayan. How many weeks do you suppose it should take for seeds to be ready for harvest?

6 weels is a good starting point. If they are falling out of the calyxes early, you can harvest. (exaggeration... if they are fully developed before that point, you don't have to wait, obviously). better to be safe than sorry and have large % of inviable seed. if you allow it to be pollinated over and over across a longer length of time, you have seeds developing at much different time frames, so try to douse them over a shorter period of time and remove the pollen donating plant / clean up as best you can, though no need to be anal about it. wipe down walls and floor / platform etc. get that excess pollen out of there so you can have a single harvest date and get 95% of the seed with the same development time.

Just getting started. I only chopped the skunk plant so far. I made this page by mistake. I will come back and edit all this when I harvest the Nanda Devi. July 10: Updates to follow over the course of a week or two. July 12. Chopped the tall hempy looking one. About half seem viable. July 12, harvested four seedless small's from a seeded plant.Juky 13, warm weather and low humidity. The buds dried overnight. I smoked them with a bong. Very harsh. THC is present. Possibly other cannabinoids there too. Feels medicine like anyway. Good for a pic nic break July 15. Harvest all but complete. The room is clear for the next grow. Still have more bud to dry but already have plenty of good seeds.

July 10: It was running out of gas. The buds themselves are browning. The seeds so far seem inviable. As though I chopped to early. I won't repeat that mistake with Nanda Devi. The buds will dry out and I'll sort through them after they dry. Freshly cut samples are not encouraging. I might get two or three good seeds and about 30 bad ones inside this one gram of freshly cut skunk bud. I guess that will do for this tortured skunk. July 11: I think I can get two, maybe three of these to grow. F1 Skunk Devi, not a good run but maybe grow a breeding pair, or not. Sketchy result.

I have crossed two strains. The seeds are S1. Then if I inbreed my S1 seeds then those offspring seeds are F1 seeds. Is that the proper convention?
