Seeds popped and were placed in red solo cups filled with a generic potting soil from a mulch/soil store. This was before there was access to a pretty well balanced soil that was mixed up (still cooking) but this should suffice until they get transplanted from the red solo cups to the 5 gallon buckets they will finish in.
Since the soil needs to cook for min 30 days, they will probably finish in some Roots Organic Original Mix with some Earthworm Castings and Parboiled Rice hulls mixed in. Not the ideal mix but should be alright especially if they can get some compost tea/microbe multiplier at some point. These were started just to get something going and if there's any harvest at all, it will be a success. Testing out and getting accustomed to a few new pieces of equipment and techniques is what is being tried on these as well as before the grow room was completed to provide more ideal conditions throughout the grow.
All the seeds sprouted within a day or two and look great! They under a very low power/quality LED that was a gift but should work just to get them started while waiting to order the HLG 750 Diablo which will be used for the rest of the cycle.
@BudBoutique, Thanks man, I'll give a follow back! Yeah I agree, I think some jar time will help for sure. By the time the next run is finished I should have a better way to control the drying environment. Gonna dry the next run in the grow room which has a controller and is easier to regulate temp and humidity. Soooo stoked for these Big Body Gelati from Covert! You too bud, smoke up!
@CannabisFarmerGuyDude,
appreciate your long answer bro. Yeah im same not always exactly 60/60 but just curing them a few more weeks make them more better. Just get them darkness and low temp and burp as usual. And trust me 4-8 weeks make a huge difference even though its not easy to keep hands away haha have a super stoney weekend buddy - will follow u straight :)
@Seedsman, oh definitely familiar with pH and absorption rates, but since I am avoiding sulfate based, soluble, ionic, fertilizers/nutrients and didn't provide them with adequate container size or high quality soil (just in Roots Organic), I don't think there is much that can be changed this late in the cycle unless I want to introduce some bottled solution. Had they been in say at least 15 gallon or preferably 30 gallon containers, with a compost based complete soil that provided the plants everything they could need for the entire cycle and more, the effects of slightly too alkaline water would probably be negligible. Next run is already set up for this so all these issues should be avoided next time!
@CannabisFarmerGuyDude, that sound a bit high... ideal would be under 7.0
Have you read any table of absorption of elements depending on Ph? It would be good for you to see the optimal ranges, there are many on Google if you haven't done so. 🙏
@Seedsman, was able to get a pH off the runoff this morning. Was reading 7.6 so while a little more basic than ideal, that wouldn't cause too many issues would it?
@Seedsman, Thank you! It has been eradicated, thankfully it was less severe than initially expected. Only lost a few pieces of a couple colas but saved the rest. Did a massive defoliation and inspection right after this last post so the last week or so should go smooth. Also was able to move them to the new grow room so the humidity and temp are a lot easier to manage. Have humidity sitting around 40-45% now and temp consistently around 75-77F which is a lot better and should prevent any new issues from coming up the last week or two. The buds that are remaining are really dense and frosty!! Can't wait to try it!
