Im really F'n it up....Big lesson for the week...Get a good PH tester and do not depend on litmus...just thought of this but the strips I have are also a couple of years old. Also damaged leaves from whatever issue do not repair (correct??)
The bottom leaves had curled and twisted a bit due to (I think) the water log situation
In the meantime I had been researching PH and made a soil slurry to check its PH.
It read about 5 PH on litmus which I should have known couldn't have been correct because everything was going pretty well otherwise....anyway I took a crack at balancing it out when the plants were ready for water on the eve of Nov 12
Nov 12 - Flushed all plants (no nutes) with Reverse Osmosis water PH adjusted to 7.2 (litmus)
3.0 PPM. Bottom Water read 5.5 PH
The actual PH (after I bought a digital PH tester) was 8.5!!!!
Nov 14 - Did the same with the same water and the same result on the Bottom Water
Nov 15 - I kinda figured Im not helping things here and bought a tester but had to soak it for 24hrs then calibrate it so not wanting to kill the plants any further I tried a flush just with the RO water not adjusted at all (no nutes yet either)
Nov 16 - Made a soil slurry - 5.8 PH, 461 PPM with digital testers
Non adjusted RO water - 6.5 PH, 3.0 PPM
So.....I figured maybe the best way to give them a fighting chance is to transplant. Its a bit early as the roots could have been thicker but need to get exposed to some good soil.
Transplanted to the 3 gal pots today with some AZOS and MYKOS root promoter and an organic fertilizer @ 425 PPM 1-0.5-1...and 6.5 PH
Also showing signs of Phosphorous deficiency....need a second opinion on that
Here's hoping they bounce back
Nov 17 - Plants have perked up nicely...Whew!!
Hey @StinkyPinky Thanks...Seems I def need some luck so far. The plants soaked in tap water for about 10 minutes after I asked my wife to put water in the trays to try and increase the humidity which was about 25%....I was at work....not thinking about work....It took about that long before I realized I should have mentioned to put something under them to keep them out of the water...oops.
I did some reading about PH and measuring the bottom water and comparing the top water in PH to determine roughly what the root zone PH is. I have been using Litmus strips and the bottom water was between 5-5.5 PH...bottom leaves were all curled (prob cause of the soak). I have watered with a 7 PH flush since they have dried out and they are not happy at all
Learning curve is steep
Prob put under the Blackdog Phytomax 2 600W a little early
Need to learn more about soil PH effects and adjusting...or whether soil adjusting is required at all...I am using a high quality mix that was recommended at the plant store for Cannabis
I bought a good PH tester yesterday
Good luck to you to fellow Canuck. Ill be watching
