Germination Stage: Apricot Auto Grow – First Time Sharing Here!
I’ve just started 2 Apricot Autos from Fastbuds. This is my first time sharing a grow here, but it’s my fourth strain from Fastbuds, so I’ve had some experience with their genetics.
I’m growing in Thailand in a cupboard that I’ve modified into a grow space. It’s a DIY setup where I’ve kept things as budget-friendly as possible. For ventilation, I’m using a Mars Hydro carbon inline filter, and I’ve got some random fans I had lying around for airflow. The lights are cheap, unbranded ones sourced locally from Thailand (or China), but they’ve worked well so far.
Right now, I’m in the germination stage. I’ve made sure everything is dialed in to give these seeds the best start. Alongside these Apricot Autos, I’m also growing Orange Sherbert Auto in the same cupboard setup. I take plenty of photos to track the progress and hope to share updates along the way...

Current Setup:
Medium: Locally made seedling mix from an online grow shop
Lights: DLI set to 12
Nutrients: Big Plant Science (not yet introduced at this stage)
Looking forward to seeing how these Apricot Autos and the Orange Sherbert Auto develop.
Forgive me editing, I'm learning the platform along with learning to grow!, I may upload pics then explain later, so I may cause some confusion!
Thanks for your patience!
Week 1: Vegetative Stage – Both Apricot Autos in Solo Cups
Both Apricot Autos are now in Week 1 of the vegetative stage, settling into their solo cups. One has a small, misshapen leaf, but overall, things are progressing well so far.
This is my first time using airpots, and I’m a bit unsure about the size. The ones I’ve got are 8 inches in diameter, and while that seemed fine at first, I’m wondering if they might be a little small for these autos. From what I’ve learned, depth is more important than overall pot size for root growth in autoflowers, so I’m hoping the airpots will still work. In previous grows, I’ve noticed that the roots never fully filled the pots, no matter the size of the plants, so I’m feeling cautiously optimistic.
For now, I’m focused on keeping everything steady as the plants adjust to their new environment.
Current Setup:
Medium: Locally made seedling mix from an online grow shop
Lights: DLI set to 12
Nutrients: Big Plant Science (not yet introduced)
Everything’s looking good as the Apricot Autos continue their slow and steady growth.
Week 2: Vegetative Stage – Transplanted to Final Pots
This week, I moved both Apricot Autos from their solo cups to their final pots. I’m using a coco/perlite mix of 70/30, and I added Great White Mycorrhizae during the transplant to support root health and development.
One plant still has that small, misshapen leaf and has lagged behind the other throughout the week, but overall, they’re doing well. Now that they’ve settled into their final pots, I’ll keep an eye on how they develop over the next few weeks.
Current Setup:
Medium: 70/30 coco/perlite mix with Great White Mycorrhizae added during transplant
Lights: DLI set to 12
Nutrients: Big Plant Science (to be introduced soon)
Overall, they’re looking good, with steady growth.
Week 3: Vegetative Stage – First Nutrients and LST
Midweek, the Apricot Autos got their first taste of Big Plant Science nutrients, and it seems to have given them a solid boost. Both plants are looking healthier, though the one with the misshapen leaf is starting to fall behind compared to the other. Despite that, they’re both still progressing.
I’ve been doing daily LST using bent wire and garden twine to help shape the plants and improve light exposure. Along with that, I’ve been tucking leaves to make sure the lower growth gets enough light. I’ve also increased the Daily Light Integral (DLI) to about 22, so they’re getting a good amount of light now.
Current Setup:
Medium: 70/30 coco/perlite mix with Great White Mycorrhizae added during transplant
Lights: DLI set to 22
Nutrients: Big Plant Science (introduced midweek)
Although the smaller plant with the misshapen leaf is falling behind, both are still growing, and the LST and nutrients are helping to push them along.
Week 3: Vegetative Stage – Training, Defoliation, and Entering Full Flower
The Apricot Autos have really taken off this week. I’ve been doing a little defoliation here and there, but over the course of training and tucking, I sometimes get a little heavy-handed and manage to break the odd leaf. Even with these occasional slips (you can see it in the pics), the plants are still shaping up nicely and getting huge, though not as much as my previous grow, which was also Fast Buds autos.
By the end of the week, the plants have started to noticeably stretch, which I’m happy about since it makes them easier to train. At this stage, I like to train using mental pegs, gardening wire, and leaf tucking. I rarely remove any leaves until I have a clearer idea of the plant’s final shape, which did evolve quickly this week, prompting me to take action.
On day 27, one of the plants is entering full flower, while the one with the misshapen leaf is a couple of days behind. The difference between the two is becoming less noticeable, although one is still bigger.
Current Setup:
Medium: 70/30 coco/perlite mix with Great White Mycorrhizae added during transplant
Lights: DLI set to 22
Nutrients: Big Plant Science (introduced midweek)
Despite breaking a leaf or two during training, both plants are progressing well, with flowering now fully underway.
