I'm still an apprentice even though I have been at it for 40 years already! I can't do diaries because it is still illegal to grow herbs where I live, so I miss out on likes to increase my internet status.........but who cares?? Never accepted any prizes either, I do this for fun, not internet points or free stuff!

The newb-guru thing is based on "likes" which have nothing to do with growing. No worries. That leaderboard is littered with people that need recognition / instant gratification, lol. Some are genuine totals and some are inflated by a bot/script that can like thousands of comments and diary weeks in a few moments of time. The whimsical growth rate pulls the curtain back on that corruption. You'll also notice that winners of monthly competitions are not always choosen based on quality of the results, bwahaha, most are fine, but there are typically some head-scratchers. The rules are not always equally applied, too. As long as 'growing your way' (generalized concept, not specifically 'your' way) has consistently good results, I agree with these sentiments. When a growing method is an extension of someone's personality as opposed to based upon results, I disagree. There are far too many burnt to shit canopies and fugly plants of people that refuse to take responsibility for the results or just in denial about them, therefore no evolution or improvement occurs for those people. Sometimes you absolutely have to adjust a false perception.. it can't always be about feelings or wants.

liquid silica is highly alikine, the best one and happens to be the most expensive in liquid forms is Monosilicic Acid, their are some forms of amendments of Si, rice hulls, DE, Wollastonite. They take time to break down and DE has the added benefit of being a anti bug deterrent when its dry. I think its good to have in all life stages its a supplemental building block but not necessary. Helps em bulk up and build defenses from pests.

It's a popular supplement but I've never bothered using it. I'm a fan of the "less is more" line of thought. I don't add extra products just to add them. I need a reason to. It's supposedly helps strengthen branches but weak branches has never been an issue I've had problems with in my personal grows. We use it at work and it doesn't seem to help THAT much IMO. Of course at work we're also doing THICK canopies that are massively crowded together, it might be worse without it. Most of those plants still can't support their own weight though. In excess, silica can make your limbs too ridged and difficult to train too.

Most nutrient manufacturers recommend silica only for the flowering phase...........
