Enter stage left, the Grandaddy Purple auto. Started her off in a glass of water, filtered out the chlorine and ph'd it down to 6.5. Left her there 24 hours until she cracked open and a little white tail appeared. After that she rested 2 days, wrapped in moist paper towel inside an iKEA sandwich bag on our internet router 😜 Today, she was put in BioBizz LightMix with 2g/l Microbes. Let the fun begin!!

Today her true leaves are starting to distance themselves from the cotyledons... The next set of leaves are also distancing them selves from the first set of true leaves... The main stem is starting to grow.. She should takeoff in height soon. Give her a couple days and she should be ready to be transplanted. I want to get her in the new pot before her taproot touches the bottom of the current little pot. Which, in part due to the microbes, could be any day now. -------------------------------------------- update 31 December 2024 Clearly missed the objective to transplant her before her taproot hit the bottom of the small pot. The Microbes are clearly working! She got transplanted nonetheless and I lowered the light from 50cm to 40 cm. Light intensity is the same, 50%. As I wasn't sure if the soil and worms in the 40L had enough time to do their thing since having their previous inhabitant removed, I mixed up a small nutrient watering. 0.2g/l Microbes + 0.2ml/l CalMag + 1ml/l BioGrow + PH Down to 6.5 Also, the lighting has been adjusted from 50cm to 40cm at 50% intensity. Light schedule will be 12/12 as of tomorrow. The Amnesia Haze is ready to be flipped :)

Vegetation Week 2 She is going into week two now and doesn't seem affected by the transplant a few days back. There are two leaves kind of deformed. This may be genetics and it may be the new nutrient rich soil. (She is actually still too young to get exposed to such luxury 😂) --------------------------------------------- Lighting: As she shares the tent with AH, she's forced to abide by AH's needs. Which is 12/!2 It's 45cm above her (at 50% intensity) and just a little in range of the AH. You can see in the update to last week's diary, she has a separate light. Both plants have their own SF1000EVO but there is nothing separating the plants in the tent. This is intentional. In about 4 weeks, both lights should be at the same height and about the same intensity. Grandaddy should be ready to chop when AH is in the fattening stage and AH will have the luxury of both lights shining on her at 100% intensity. ..or at least, that's how it should play out. ---------------------------------------------- January 7 2025 She grew one centimeter in two days. The soil directly around the plant was still moist so she didn't get watered today. She'll probably be thirsty tomorrow. ---------------------------------------------- January 9 2025 She grew another centimeter. ---------------------------------------------- See you with the next update!

She's 21 days old and started Veg week 3 today. She has been growing slowly but surely. Tracks of having to process nutrients at such a young age are showing. She seems to be enjoying the living soil though! ------------------------------------------------- Nutrients: 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.2ml/l CalMag + 0.5ml/l BioGrow + PH Down to 6.5 + whatever the worms and table scraps are giving off 😬 She received her first (half) dose of CalMag and BioGrow today. I didn't see any indications she was needing either but as far as CalMag goes, she only had access to whatever the soil had leftover from the Amnesia Zkittlez before her. Concerning BioGrow, I only started her on that for all the other nutrients and minerals it contains. She clearly has access to enough Nitrogen 😂 The Microbes was increased from 0.2 to 0.4g/l. She is now receiving the full recommended dose. Mainly, because the vegetation stage is now in full swing, I want to try and actively help her roots, the root structure and nutrient uptake. ------------------------------------------------- Lighting: Still the same as last week. An SF1000EVO at 50% intensity. 50cm ..erm, 45cm away from the plant. She's grown a little 😇 Even being so young, she sure can pray a lot. I take this as a sign, the light is at the correct setting and distance 😎 ------------------------------------------------- Included pictures of (what I think is) the nutrient damage. Looks to me like Nitogen toxicity. None of the newer growth is affected though so the plant can clearly process it by now. ------------------------------------------------- January 16 2025 Nutrients in effect 😎 She is growing quick now. Signs of dealing with nutrients at a young age are still there and have not spread further. I contemplated increasing the light intensity from 50 to 60% and see how she responds, but figured she just got introduced to nutrients. Let her fully process that first. ------------------------------------------------- See you with the next update!

She is 28 days old today and is starting veg week 4 The nutrient damage did continue and moved to other leaves as well. BioGrow will be removed from her feedings. ---------------------------------------------------- Nutrients: Continuing with the Microbes and CalMag but removing BioGrow. The living soil is obviously producing enough nutrients for the plant to live off of. There is currently no need for additives. ---------------------------------------------------- Should be an interesting week. It's usually around this time that autos go into bloom. ---------------------------------------------------- January 25: End of Veg week 4 (35 days old) and still no sign of pre flowers! Used the opportunity and topped her yesterday 😈 The entire week she only received dechlorinated water and 0.2ml/l of CalMag. Other than the tips of her leaves still showing remnants of the excessive nutrients, she's starting to show signs of wanting a little more CalMag. I'll increase that to 0.4ml/l with her next watering. She'll also be receiving her weekly portion of Microbes with the next watering. Ph of this weeks feedings was 7.2 and runoff was a consistent 6.8 We'll see if the runoff decreases any the upcoming days. The red wrigglers can survive ph up to 7 but I'd rather be safe and keep it around 6.5 also to comfort the microorganisms. It's been over seven days since the last time I used ph-down. I don't notice any affects from this in the soil, the plant or the worms. So far so good I think. ---------------------------------------------------- See you next update.

Runoff was 7.0 ------------------------------------ Jan 28 Checked in if the worms were actually eating the avocado. Yup! She grew a few more centimeters and is showing signs of legginess. Perhaps I should increase the light intensity from 50 to 60 ? To combat the runoff ph of 7 she was watered 7L of dechlorinated water + 0.4ml/l CalMag. PH was 7.1. Runoff was 6.8 😇 ------------------------------------ Feb 2 Her first pre flower! She'll be stretching very soon. She's now 33cm tall. Vegetation looks greener and more healthy. The increase of CalMag and recent flush seem to have made her happy again 😊 Finished it of with a shot of the tent setup. Fans up high blowing warm air down and creating a breeze without directly blowing on the bud sites. Fan on the left will have to be risen soon again. As she wan't thirsty she didn't get watered. ------------------------------------ See you in a week again!

Granddaddy Purple Auto End of Veg week 6 First things first, we had a false alarm last week. That thing I called a pre-flower, ended up being a leaf. She is getting tall (and wide). She's nearly 50cm already. I might need a taller tent for the stretch.... her fan leaves are absolutely huge 😳😳 -------------------------------------- Feb 3 Today she received her weekly Microbe dose of 0.4g/l as well as CalMag 0.4ml/l. Decided to manually ph the water down to 6.5 again and try to get the runoff regulated again. 4L of dechlorinated topwater, including the before mentioned. Feed was 6.5. Runoff was 6.7. (That's still better than the 7.0 from last week) I'm also contemplating a half dose of TopMax into her diet, once a week, to help feed the microorganisms. As TopMax has no N P or K I see no harm utilizing the other minerals, nutrients and sugars it provides. Will think this over though. As a first initiative, I dried some used coffeegrounds and mixed about 3tbsp into her topsoil. That'll keep all the critters busy for a while 😅 As she is still in the veg stage. I might as well abuse it right? Applied LST 😎 Only because she looks recovered from the topping already. -------------------------------------- Feb 6 Adjusted the LST and checked for pre-flowering. Alas none. To combat the legginess I raised the light intensity from 40 to 50% at a distance of 40cm. She was watered and fed today as well. 4l of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4ml/l of CalMag + PH Down to 6.5. Runoff was 6.5. -------------------------------------- Feb 9 I presume her upper most leaves didn't like the increase in light intensity 😇 A couple of tips bleached from the burn. Raised the light to 50cm at 60% intensity to get the desired par levels without burning her. She's taking very well to the LST and is getting bushy. Watered her today 4l of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.4ml/l CalMag + 0.5ml/l TopMax + PH Down to 6.5. Runoff was 6.5 So, after long contemplation, I introduced her (the soil) to a weekly half-dose of TopMax. The sugars should help feed the microbes. The other minerals should be helpful for the soil and plant. -------------------------------------- I kept my eyes peeled the entire week and there are still no pre-flowers. This is the longest vegetation stage of an automatic I have ever seen. See you next update!

Granddaddy Purple auto End of Veg week 7 52 days. 52 f'ing days!! 52 days for the first pre-flower. On an automatic!! 😳 It's definitely clear now, she's going in bloom and will be smelly soon 😎 ----------------------------------- February 12 Checked in on the LST today and also to check for pre-flowers/nanners. BINGO! She has two pre-flowers developing. Light intensity reduced from 60 to 55% (at 50cm distance) to help the upcoming stretch. After the stretch, intensity will be increased to 60 again and gradually increase. Fed her 6L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4ml/l CalMag + ph down to 6.5 Runoff was 6.5 ----------------------------------- February 14 Released most of the LST bindings as all of the branches were stable. Had to sort through the jungle though. She's in need of a defoliation but I simply tucked the leaves away this time. Fed her 6L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4ml/l CalMag + ph down to 6.5 Runoff was 6.5 again 😎 ----------------------------------- February 16 She is starting to develop a scent. Different than the Amnesia Haze next to her. Pleasant but not distinct yet. Preflowers are on nearly every branch now. Defloiated her today. Removed four little leaves in the under canopy 💪 Today is Microbe day! Fed her 6L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.4ml/l CalMag + 0.5ml/l BioBloom + 0.5ml/l TopMax + ph down to 6.5 Runoff was rock solid 6.5 again 😎 Now she is pre flowering, she'll be processing more P and K the upcoming weeks. I've started her on a weekly half-dose of BioBloom. If she wants more, she can have more but let's see how she responds first. We mustn't forget that the red wrigglers are releasing P and K as well and they may already be in abundance in the soil. ----------------------------------- All in all, she looks really happy. She is showing no signs of deficiencies and the Nitrogen excess problem seems regulated. Her leaves are still darker than dark but the tips aren't weird looking anymore. She's made some good progress this vegetation! See you with the next update!

Granddaddy Purple Auto End of Bloom week 1 The almost-unthinkable happened to her roommate so now she has the tent and both lights for herself. ---------------------------------------- Feb 18 Applied my infamous tuck-n-bend method on the humongous fan leaves, as shoots were growing up from under them. She wasn't thirsty yet, so she didn't get watered. ---------------------------------------- Feb 20 Checked up on the plants an hour earlier than usual. Normally the lights would not have been on yet, but I found them on. F*CK!!!! Forgot to switch the timer back on after attending to them past Sunday 😫😫😫 Though she won't be bothered any, her photoperiod neighbor didn't like it one bit.. She is filling out, past my desires. Even though she is just starting the bloom period, I will have to defoliate her. The fan leaves are getting in the way of multiple bud sites. The upper fan leaves are blocking way too much light from ever reaching the lower canopies. Might just get to that tonight. Watered her 7L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4ml/l CalMag + 0.5ml/l BioBloom + 0.5 ml/topmax + PH Down to 6.2 Runoff of 0.8L measured 6.5ph Some yellow spots developed in a couple leaves. This may be windburn. I'll keep an eye out for further development. ---------------------------------------- Feb 23 Defoliated and applied a light lst on the lower branches. That reduced the rh by about 3C 😃 Now she has the tent to herself, she has been moved to the middle of the tent with both SF1000 EVOs shining on her. I also decided to increase daily light intake from 12/12 to 16/8. Though this run was going to be a 12/12 from seed, she alone cannot keep up adequate temperature in the tent. Hence, the lights can burn longer now. Light intensity reduced to 40% (down from 50%) to help through the stretch, as well as reduce the par a little now two lamps are shining on her. If my calculations are correct, the ppfd is about 500 across the entire canopy due to me spacing the lights out 13cm from each other. She has pre-flowers everywhere and the upper nodes are blooming. Good thing we started her on the BioBloom and TopMax. She isn't thirsty yet, so she'll get watered tomorrow. ---------------------------------------- See you with the next update!

Granddaddy Purple auto End of Bloom week 2 She's stretching.. 65cm tall and still going 😂 She's now 35cm away from the lights, which have had their intensity increased gradually to 60% No signs of nutrition problems since adding the half doses of Bloom (P+K) and TopMax (sugars for the living) ------------------------------ Feb 25 She is looking a little pale and signs of CalMag are just starting to develop between the veins of the leaves. It's time to add Grow to her diet again for the N and I'll increase her CalMag intake from 0.4 to 0.5. Everything in baby steps. Don't forget, the worms living in the soil are feeding her N-P-K as well and we don't want to upset this environment!! Watered 7L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.5ml/l CalMag + 0.5 ml/l BioGrow + 0.5ml/l BioBloom + 0.5ml/l TopMax + PH Down to 6.2 1L of Runoff measured 6.4 The pistols are really starting to come through! ------------------------------ Feb 27 Just a quick check to see how she is doing. She was thirsty so she got watered. I included her portions of feed as well and will probably keep doing this every watering until she shows she is contempt. Watered 7L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.5ml/l CalMag + 0.5 ml/l BioGrow + 0.5ml/l BioBloom + 0.5ml/l TopMax + PH Down to 6.2 1L of Runoff measured 6.4 ------------------------------ March 2 Removed the LST wires as her branches have stiffened enough to my liking. Her canopy is turning into a jungle again. I may have to remove a few fan leaves soon. Could have sworn she would be thirsty today but her soil is still moist. That's weird... She didn't drink anything the past 2 days?? Checked her drip tray and the sucker was full to the brim!! I forgot to empty the drip tray after the last watering and she has been drinking from that 😨😨😨 Erm... I dunno if that is good. Guess we'll find out. We know the ph of that runoff was well within boundaries so THAT won't affect her any. I am more worried about the EC value of that runoff... Although, the foliage is getting slightly paler. I may increase the CalMag from 0.5 to 0.6 and the Grow from 0.5 to 0.75. I don't see any direct reason to increase Bloom at the moment. TopMax could be increased as it's feeding the living with sugars, but for the plant, I see no reason to. Lighting timer has been adjusted today from 16/8 to 18/6. She is taking the increased intensity very well and 'Johnny Five' is ready for light too, so it was time to increase that too. ------------------------------ March 3 The uppermost pistols have a little discoloration to them. They don’t look burnt or singed but I reduced the light intensity nonetheless, from 60% to 40%. I know, kind of drastic. Hope she‘ll take it. She’s 33cm away from the light and growing ever slower. I think that is in part due to the distance to the lamps and their intensity. Ppfd should be 350 now. See you with the next update!

Grandaddy Purple auto End of Bloom week 3 She was defoliated. Some stems broke. She didn’t give a f*ck This is one resilient plant!! —————————————————— March 3 I was clearly having ph issues myself.. She is standing 70cm tall and I am starting to get concerned about the safety of her and the distance to the lights. So as any reasonable idiot would do, i applied LST to the two main stems. Of course, two weeks into flower stage 🤓🤓🤓 They clearly didn't like that and snapped in my hands. The stems flopped over and I left them like that, heartbroken that such a beautiful plant may have well just been ruined.. there are no longer safety concerns with the lights. She is 10cm shorter now. Watered her 7L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.5ml/l CalMag + 0.75ml/l BioGrow + 0.5ml/l BioBloom + 0.5ml/l TopMax —————————————————— March 5 Checked in on her two broken maincolas and expected to find the leaves all shriveled up and dead… but wtf??? The maincolas are still growing!!! This is going to be interesting indeed! She wasn’t thirsty so she didn’t get watered. The discoloration in and around the bud sites seems to not have been affected by dimming the lights. Now several days have passed, it is clear that it’s the sugar leaves that are discolored purple. Will keep an eye open anyhow to be sure it’s not nutrient induced. —————————————————— March 7 Still not thirsty. Still doesn’t give af!! Her broken maincolas are still growing 😎 —————————————————— March 9 Now she is thirsty 😌 Watered her 8L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.5 CalMag + 1ml/lBioGrow + 1ml/l BioBloom + 1ml/l TopMax + PH Down to 6.0 Runoff was 6.4 BioGrow has been increased to help feed microorganisms. BioBloom and TopMax increased to help with the broken maincolas. —————————————————— See you next update!

Plants are looking healthy in the diary. I did notice you are around a PH of 6 and biobuzz says not to go below a PH of 6.2 So I would try and up that a bit if you can. 6.5-6.8 is good IMO. if the nutrients your feeding are fully available then the PH is less important to keep it so low. I don't see sign of N tox in the diary but in the pics you uploaded here it looks like that a bit. I think that you might need to get some runoff to prevent buildup in the medium. as it can mimic a lot of things. Also would be good idea to track the concentration of the the feeding solution your giving them in EC or PPM, EC is king but PPM also works just fine. I feel if you give them a small flush of just PH'd water and follow up with a correct feeding it should bounce back. but careful the medium does not get overly saturated as no one likes root rot issues. So do it slowly. Good Luck!

Granddaddy Purple auto End of bloom week 4 It would seem the CalMag issue has been balanced out. There have been no reappearances for two weeks. Johnny 5 aka Short Circuit aka Granddaddy Purple auto End of Bloom week 5 The stretch is over. Light intensity increased again as well as a few nutrients. ----------------------------------------- March 18 Checked to see if she was thirsty or needed anything else, but alas. Took measurements and a few pictures. She grew 1cm since Sunday. Perhaps the stretch is over? Perhaps the increase of lighting to 50% is stunting her? Do not see any signs of heat stress. Not the slightest. ----------------------------------------- March 20 (no pictures) Took measurements. She grew 1 cm since Tuesday. The stretch is over! Definitely not due to the lighting. There are absolutely no signs of heat issues on her, her leaves nor her flowers/pistols. Perfect timing, she is thirsty as well. As the stretch has ended, it's time to bump up the nutrients a little. Taking a chance with this bump so fingers crossed she handles it well. 8L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.5ml/l CalMag + 2ml/l BioGrow + 2ml/l BioBloom + 1ml/l TopMax + PH Down to 6.5 Runoff of 0.8l measured 6.8 (can't wait till the EC meter arrives) BioGrow was increased from 1 to 2ml/l to give her more micro and macro nutrients, as well as more food for the microorganisms who will convert that to nitrogen. BioBloom was increased from 1 to 2ml/l to get her an instant small shot of nitrogen, as well as supply her with more P and K to help with flower production. Seeing as she will primarily be focussing on that the next couple of weeks... Light intensity increased from 50 to 60%, still at a distance of 35cm. Plan to gradually increase this as far as the plant wants it, in increments of 5-10% every week. ----------------------------------------- March 22 She's thirsty again. So instead of holding off till tomorrow to do the weekly diary entry, i'l take care of it today. She'd normally get feed tomorrow, if she's thirsty, so that'll get done today even though she just had feed two days ago. Gotta get the weekly dose of microbes in the soil! Some leaves are showing CalMag issue. Will bump that up a little. 7L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.7ml/l CalMag + 2ml/l BioGrow + 2ml/l BioBloom + 1ml/l TopMax + PH Down to 6.5 Runoff of 1.1L measured 6.8ph again Added pictures of several higher bud sites. Obviously no heat issues to be seen. Day and Night temps have increased by nearly 5C. That's partially due to the weather outside being a little warmer, but mostly due to the increase of intensity of two lamps 😅 ----------------------------------------- Another exciting stage of her life has dawned. If done correctly, she should be showing us soon why they named her Purple. Fingers crossed! See you next update.

@Spike_KCanG, I supercropped the main cola on my last gorilla cookies grow and that was the chute that got the fattest! and it was also an auto! some of them are hearty and benefit from more stressful techniques, looking great, happy growing!

Me: Grandpa, you're giving off "broke" vibes lately. Grandaddy: You little whippersnapper! I'll show you... She was 70cm tall. Then I snapped her main colas on accident. They laid 90 degrees perpendicular to her main stem. Now look at her! 70cm again!! And those broken main colas? Who are you calling broke??!! Word of the wise, a plant will do what a plant wants to do. If she wanna f*ck up your ceiling, she will.

@valiotoro, if you work with sandwich bags, be sure to keep the opening pointed upwards 😂 Also, don't block off the ventilation ports of the router 😅

@Fat_Olsh_Farms, cheers bud! Coming from you that is a compliment I will gladly take :) Yes, she is kicking it! Having readjusted the nutrients and getting insight what the living soil is doing, might be paying off. We'll see in a few weeks! Of course I'll stop by your page :)

i actually prefer when my autos take about this long to start flowering. it does get confusing though, trying to guess and wait to change your nutrients for flowering at the right time. but the 3 week veg of normal autos, always throws me off

I agree. The plant has time to grow out a bit before the flower comes if she takes 2-3 weeks longer. The suspense was killing. Not knowing if she is gonna pre flower or show manly parts...
