Germinated both by putting each between two cotton swabs sprayed 3x each half, put in baggie, in dark with ambient temp of 85F. After ~2 days, had ~1" tap roots - put in soil ~1" deep, covered, watered, and domed as well as started light at 10% power. On day 2 (today), I upped the light to 20%. The hulls are on the sprouts in this picture but I removed them later in the day. So far so good.
N.B. I did start these same two strains directly in soil as I normally do and didn't have success (which is unusual!). Asking on the Mephisto discord, there was a lot of recommendation on using the paper towel method so I did that (more like the way HomeGrowTV does it on YT...) and that worked just fine.
Soil essentially a homemade BAS 3.0. I had done 3 prior runs in this earthbox and this time, emptied it, made new soil and mixed then with the old and regenerated the soil using the BAS soil regeneration amendment as directed.
EDIT: I forgot to add, I had a small amount of coco coir around the spot where I planted the seeds in an effort to keep the soil not as 'hot' as some purport 3.0 to be. I've not seen that but since I had those 2 seeds originally not pop, that's why I did that in hopes to just get the seeds to pop and sprout.
Watered with RO water.
Picture is from day 26. I've converted to completely letting the earth box do the watering - I've refilled the reservoir once so far. Both plants were topped. The Creme de la Chem is a little smaller than the Blood Orange Haze, but both are looking healthy and doing well.
This is all organic soil I made based on the BAS 3.0 recipe. I've applied a 1/2 cup each into the top inch or so of the earthbox soil: BAS craft blend and BAS bokashi. This was mixed into the soil and then watered. This was the last top watering about a week before I am writing this.
Still using a heater tho I'd like to get that off reasonably soon. Humidifier runs constantly but the temp of the heater i think dries things out a little. Regardless, no complaints here. I intend to do some light training.
