Theyve started off a rough start because the cubes dried out very fast. I might not even bother with these rapid rooter or rockwool cubes in the future. Then again I hope to not have to use seeds again, just take a good cutting and keep her forever

Grow Questions

2 weeks flowering and only one plant is starting to show just one tiny set of pistols that I could see. Should they not have started showing sex by now? My tent has pinhole light leaks around the seams, is this enough light to fuck with my plants?

Some plants take a little longer to show flowers than others, so I wouldn't be overly concerned at this point. I would take care of the pinholes, as light stress can mess up the flowering process. I used electrical tape to the outside to cover the small holes in my tent. I noticed near the seam where my fans were pressing up against the tent I had some light leak issues, so I taped up the seams as a preventative measure also. Flowering is started by the amount of darkness it receives, not light. When the plant receives 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness it allows a hormone to build up that triggers flowering. Light basically destroys/removes that hormone, so light leaks will mess that up Good luck and happy growing! 💪

Does the flowering period count from the day you flip to 12/12 or the day you first start seeing pistils? I have found only conflicting info on when to start timing an 8 week flowering period.

I would go by the day you see the plant starting its pre-flowers. In anyway you'll need to look at the trichome heads to really determine when it's time to harvest. But for the sake of documenting your grow most people will start week 1 of flower the day they switch to 12/12.

@masterof101010 you will always find conflicting opinions regarding this question However many breeders will Go on the moment the plant shows it's preflowers rather than photo period change Hope this answers your question mate

@masterof101010, yes canopy management and watering are things to consider when setting up for your grow as once they are in full flower they don't really appeciate being fucked with too much Good luck

@DILLIGAF, The major leaks are fixed but for all the tiny pin hole ones I don't think tape will be as effective as some liquid electrical tape or similar. I havn't gotten about to fixing those yet until I next get paid. They are all flowering well so I don't think that any small pinhole (inside a dark closet too) are a big problem. The plant in question itself hasn't been the healthiest and has been difficult to reach (eg. to water).

Hi @masterof101010! For sure, a simple light leak could have affected the plant's cycle, but I see you've got nice preflowers now, so I guess it was just a long preflowering cycle due to genetics. Some plants need 3 to 4 weeks to properly develop their bud sites. Keep up the great work and happy growing!

The first 3 weeks after flipping are called the pre flower stage, where the plant has an explosive vegetative growth, making room for the buds, proper flowering can start as late as the 4th week after flipping.

Looking good ... Just got done harvesting a Northern Lights Auto myself. Got about 63 grams off her. I wish you the same success Good luck with the rest of your grow.

They already had pre-flowers from being in veg 6 weeks. I'm talking about uh full on flowers lol. and pinhole light leaks? Just taped every seam with some gorilla tape but I only just did this, theyve been 'exposed' like 2 weeks.

@masterof101010, hey yeah that should help, tape over any lights, also the zipper if you can, around the intakes, any transparent vent, that sort of thing. Hope i answered your question, anything else just let me know 🚀

I've had to throw my entire harvest away after finding that it had bud rot, which is why I havn't updated this diary in a while and why it is pointless to upload any of the pictures I have taken since I last updated. Chalk that up to another failure by me, who fails at just about everything he does, can't grow weed now either.
