the 5th and last strain that i added to my garden is this beautifull Sapphire scout. It is a high potent strain made by the one and only Humboldt Seeds Organisation. Let's start this grow, i am aiming for a 200 gram yield but anything above is always welcome. if you have any tips or tricks i should now of during this grow, don't hesitate and let me know!
so the weather hasn't been the best. the temperatures were ok but it was windy, it rained a lot and it was clouded. they are not growing as hard as before so i think they are making ready to start flowering.
as adviced by larimar i will be using Bamboo sticks to support my plants. i might even get some nets but i will have to find good ones first.
as an update on a couple of weeks ago i adres pictures of all the super cropped stems. they were done in three plants : gorilla breath #2 , Sugar breath #1 & Sugar breath #2. it already is an more even canopy and hopefully i can run a test, i would like to see if the super cropping really stimulates in giving bigger flowers. so i have my control group which are the left over stems and the super cropped stems.
the stretch has begun. in just 9 days the flowers are gonna start to form. i've been trying to give the plants more support. i placed a bunch of Bamboo through the cages to support the branches and placed a net on the smallest plant. ( the net's holes were too small, so i cut it up. only problem, since i can't reach the other plants that well i can't do the same for them. yet.) i'm working on it, i haven't had that much of time lately to work on the plants and the weather isn't helping either.
most of the plants reached the height of 180 centimeters and maybe 190 before flowering. curious how big they will become when it all starts.
in about 3 days according to the textbook the flowers will start to form (26th of August in my region) and i am really seeing more and more pistils showing up in the plants.
when looking at the grow rates, i'm having the Idea that this is the first stretch week + the forming of a lot of pistils.
next week would be the first week of flowering / stretch even tho i have had the feeling this had already commenced. the plants are ready to explode and begin giving a stronger aroma, can't wait for the smell and cola's during flowering.
i shot some photo's this morning, but didn't have that much time. Today i went on vacation for a week, so the next update will be uploaded around the 2nd of September.
yeah! flowering has officially begun. three of the plants show strong Signs of flowering, these are the gorilla breath #1, gorilla breath #2 and the Sapphire scout. Both of the Sugar breath's tend to take a little longer as they do not show that much signs yet. the Sugar breath #2 has had An explosive growth week and is really showing her stretch. most plants are above the 200 cm mark, they have crushed all my expectations if i look back at last year when i was just starting and experimenting a lot.
Lets Bush up Girls!
last week i got a lot of tips and tricks from some awesome growers on this platform. they shared a lot i didn't knew before which i'm trying to implement to my grow. i bought a jar of dark molasses which i will be using throughout the watering of the plants. i'll be using 1,5-2 spoons on 5 Liters of water. they will stimulate the soil microbes and give me the nutes my plants began missing during the last weeks.
i haven't add that much photo's this time, do you like it like this or should i add more? and what kind of photo's?
the plants from left to right in the picture and the current height of the plants are:
gorilla breath 1#: 212 cm
gorilla breath 2#: 208 cm
Sapphire scout: 198 cm
Sugar breath 1#: 195 cm
Sugar breath 2#: 180 cm
the last few days have been great, nice sunny weather with some rainy moments. the plants are bulking up and the flowers are really becoming bigger by the week.
the smells are great during a hot sunny day, they smell pretty strong already.
the bud formation is ridiculous. they are getting so damn frosty and smell amazing. the buds are already bigger than last year when i was still experimenting a lot.
i'm really checking the plants daily for budrot and other pests or problems but still not a thing. let's keep it like this. some branches are beginning to hang a little bit so i'm going to support them a bit more.
i have the feeling that the plants really enjoy the molasses additive to the soil since i have not been seeing that much yellow leaves turn up lately.
okay after a whole week with rain, and one more week go rain to goi just have to face it, budrot and stemrot have been found. i added pics of the stemrot i found on the Sapphire scout, took away the branch and got rid of the whole infected area. the bud with budrot had been cut off, it was at a very very early age, Just a tiny spec.
Because of what i found i took pictures of the trichomes. looks milky to me but today week 7 ended and 8 began so i'm skeptic in chopping them down, even tho i don't want to lose it all due to botrytis.
i'm planning to chop down the 2 gorilla breath's and the Sapphire scout in about 2 weeks, Because the week after i'm on vacation and then they are right in the 3 week zone of being good to harvest.
today i'm setting up a sort of roof for them.
update : the roof unfortunately isn't going to happen due to not having high enough attachment points.
soooo.. i would like to kindly ask to have a look at the close ups from the trichomes and guess if they are in the harvestable zone or not. because i'm not sure.
disaster struck.. during a heavy storm the cage of the gorilla breath #1 which was the best looking plant collapsed. the stem didn't break but every attempt to place it back failed. i ended up using rope attached to a pole and then to the cage to make it kinda better. unfortunately due to the fact that the plant laid down on his side for a couple days, i found multiple spots of budrot.
so... the plan is to chop her down tomorrow. the trichomes aren't quite ready yet but i guess i'll have to save what's left.
the other plants are hanging more by the day as they are really bulking up, i had planned to chop down the gorilla breath's and the Sapphire scout next friday on the 11th of october. then they'll have finshed their 9th week of flowering but the gorilla breath #1 is probably going down tomorrow, what do you think? should i do it tomorrow or Just wait another week and keep checking daily
a great strain which i'm definately growing again, Just like all the strains from this diary. she grows big buds and i would be curious what she could do inside. she is a strong bred that is easily trained to a tree with a big canopy. more pictures will follow ofcourse and a better smoke report. curious out!
