Grow Questions

Just noticed that we have small gnat like creatures on our plant. They inhabit the leaves on the top 1/4 of the plant. We plant to harvest in a week or so. Intend to make Cbd tincture with the flowers. Any help i.d.ing these creatures and how to combat them would be appreciated.

To late to do anything I would say. But for next time use neem oil through your grow or something similar just for a preventative

For sure looks like spider mites dude!! 🕷️😱I've never had them so I wouldn't know how to handle it this late in flower? So sorry mate, i would probably trim the affected areas off and harvest sooner than later because they're going to keep reproducing right?

Hey there you have a pretty bad case of aphids and it is a bad time to try to treat it since you are close to harvest. I use ladybugs to kill off aphids and most other pests. It will obviously take time to get them and a few days for them to kill the bugs. I wouldnt use insecticide soaps and oils this late. Since you are making a tincture you can use a water hose to wash most of them off but it wont get rid of all of them and can damage some of your trichomes. I would personally either order the ladybugs if you can get them fast or just harvest the plant. Wish I had a quick fix solution for you but pests are harder to treat in flower.

Nice looking plants! I'd leave the leaves on. Like SAC87 says, they store nutrients. I only ever removed the ones that were blocking light to the buds. I like the training method you are trying. I might do something similar soon myself on my own CBC Auto Cheese. Did you FIM or top any of them?

@Sinktip, thanks! this was our first batch. No topping or Fimming of any kind. The red tie downs are not a true LST, I don’t think, because it stopped growing 2 weeks ago. The pipe cleaners are holding the branches down a bit to allow more light. Seems to have worked. Our 2nd diary has two plants that were are LSTing. They are responding really well. I can see where a whole bunch of new colas are going to grow. We didn’t fim those either as we lost a week of good growth due to that unsettled weather. We bought a light though so they live outside from 9-6pm then under a light until midnight. 4 hours rest then light again. 3rd batch has 4 new plants. Plan on doing some FIM experimentation on those ones. As well as some LST. All of them are Cbd Autocheese except one is an Early Miss.

Hey how did this turn out for you??

@SosdogAndMissMuffet, I didn’t have the greatest run either. Between the 4 plants I have 3 dozen seeds and had aphids haha. Might have to experiment with the seeds. I’d suggest the end all concentrate. It killed my aphids and will use a light mix as a preventative next year. It was hard on the fan leaves tho in the ratio I did. Anyway some is better than none 👍🏻

@SAC87, one plant had them pretty bad. We were fighting with hydrogen peroxide spray. Not too sure if it worked. We ended up harvesting. And then dipping the bugs in a wash. After drying you could still see the bugs. We cured and have since made oil out of it. Aphids are the protein I guess. Other plants unaffected. Keeping a much closer eye on round 2 and 3

Sorry to see that. Hope you figure it out; I've been lucky but super paranoid about something like that. Wondering how your pinks trip went. Peace, Sink

I just found a bunch on my plants last week, 1 week from harvest 👎. I sprayed mine in a different spot than where I grow with the hose to blast off those dirty _____. Most are gone, I have been checking at least once a day and crushing loners and removing infested leaves. I’ve been trying to find out if they’ll leave once the plant is dry and there’s no juice for them to feed on. If not I’ll do a bit of bud wash even tho it reduces potency a bit or make it into some hash. Good luck and I’d suggest preemptively Treat your indoor plants so you’re not in this mess inside too. Past experience 🤦‍♂️

I’d suggest leaving them. You don’t want to stunt it now. Try tucking first, there’s a ton of nutrients in the leaves that she can steal from if needed. Only remove ones that need to come off to expose bud sites. My 2 cents. They’re looking good. I’d love to see more pictures. Good luck!👍🏻
