Week 1, Mimosa clones from Harborside were switched from 24hr light to 18/6 schedule. Lightly used GH BioRoot & FloraNova Grow nutrients as Happy Frog soil contains about 30% required nutrients. Not much action but maintaining the environment during the first week.
At the end of week two, I started LST when the plants are about 8-9" tall. Feeding schedule remains the same.
Not much to do here at this point but keep the environment as stable as possible.
Week 3 was time to transplant to the final 3 Gal pots, which allows me the room to grow 4 plants. Slightly increasing nutrients but not exceeding 50% of recommended dose due to the nutrients already in the soil. LST training is starting to payoff, lower branches are growing upwards. Will continue this into week 4.
Wow these girls are blowing up! To cap week 4 I did some trimming to the lower canopy, removing branches and leaves that were underexposed to light.
I'm also running out of her room so I'll need to SCROG and LST. Doing 4 plants in a 32x32 has proven to be a little tough on space, go figure ha.
After this week's training and SCROG, I'll be giving these girls a week or so to bounce back before flipping to flower!
Week 5 these girls were flipped into 12/12, switched nutrients to the GH FloraNova Bloom, using only 1/4 of suggested dose starting off.
She's growing through the trellis, performed another round of lolipoping to lower canopy as well as removing any top fan leaves that are blocking new growth sites.
Week 6 is in the books as we head into week 7 (week 3 of flower). I counted over 2 dozen bud sites plus a bunch more tiny ones on the sides.
The work topping the plants early on is paying off. Spotted a few fungus gnat flies around the tent, laid sticky traps and sprayed Neem oil. Will continue monitoring gnat infestation into the coming week and go from there.
Slight burn on the edges of lower fan leaves signal Cal-Mag deficiency. I have not been adding any Cal-Mag as I've been using tap water (known to already have sources of Cal-Mag). So going into week 7 I'll be adding Cal-Mag to the nutrient feed.
Carbon filter fan took a dump, not really but it started making a knocking sound. Upgraded to AC Infinity and it's running much smoother now.
Week 6 in the books, not much has changed. I was having a fungus gnat problem but fixed it with diatomaceous earth. I added an inch layer of perlite on top of the soil and dressed it with DE. Almost a day later those pesky gnats were gone!
My Vivosun fan also took a shiit so i ended upgrading to the AC Infinity T6 fan.
Watering as usuall this time with greater attention to timing in between waterings.
Not much has changed, I'm actually watering less often now since i have a layer of perlite on top of my soil to prevent fungus gnats.
I'm also adding in a small layer of sand on top of the perlite as a second layer of defense.
I'm slowly doubling my nutrients and Cal-Mag. She's thriving well so I'm doing my best to keep her happy!
I'm noticing the plants are drying up faster now that it's putting all it's energy into flowering. I'm trying to keep up with her needs but so far I've been sightly behind.
I'm hoping to provide enough nutrients to these girls throughout the week see how much she blooms.
This week i found signs of powdery mildew, I’m fighting it with Zero Tolerance by Ed Rosenthal. I stripped all leaves that had visible PM on it and gave the plant a spray down with ZT.
I’m hoping I’ll still be able to harvest this crop, but I’m already planning my next season. I’ll just have to wait and see how the ZT fungicide treatment goes.
If in a week the crop still looks good, I’ll harvest the following week. If the crop seems to be far beyond saving I’ll maybe scrap the crop and start fresh with a new season.
All in all I’m learning a lot with this season and I’m hoping she’s resilient enough to fight off the infection. Only time will tell.
UPDATE: The PM is gone after one application of the ZT. A second application was done anyway for extra measures. Will continue to monitor.
No signs of Powdery Mildew back in the tent which is great. Leaves are starting to yellow out since i started flushing last week. Everything else looks good and she’ll be ready for the chop in a few days.
Tent smells wonderful, lots of clementine coming through in this pheno. Trichomes are about mostly cloudy, just giving it a few days before the actual harvest. Cant wait!!
First grow diary in the books! What started as 4 Mimosa clones turned into some fine cannabis in the end.
This harvest yielded 93 grams, plus 20 grams of shake. Overall I’m very satisfied. Trimming was easy and the buds are all really dense.
On to the next one!
Overall great job man. If you want to increase your yields it’s a product of doing everything optimal that you can within budget. I know you might scared of heat but HPS are better spread and intensity and double ended have way less heat than you think, I ran 4 1000 watters all the way up in michigan winter, 10x10 tent no issues at all with heat perfect 78F huge yield with more heat and intensity of spread. LED is too focused and weak especially the blurples COB LEDs are the only ones that can come close to an HPS but you’ll need to spend 1000$ on a light to get there. Not worth it, the heat is your friend. It’s gonna be ok I promise, Get a double ended 1000w HPS fixture from vivosun for 189$ https://vivosun.com/products/1000w-double-ended-grow-light-fixture?variant=29808503750701&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping¤cy=USD&gclid=CjwKCAiAyc2BBhAaEiwA44-wW-GD29TB9qWOazndnnpBnbRUXKBemA8NYd96XZ9BKtrVjjY8amP1sxoC7LMQAvD_BwE
You should then buy a nice bulb for it, this really separates your light from others. lumagro Canada (best, longest lasting and 9% more UV and blue light than competitors for more terpenes and quality/Potency)... just get Luma from Canada and wait for shipping. Ushio or hortilux DE HPS are also very well built and long lasting bulb they will last 1 year+, also 65-75$. Vivosun bulbs are not great & will last 1 maybe 2 cycles. However Vivosun ballasts and reflectors are just as good as gavita, phantom, etc. Luma out of Canada is best for 65$. HPS has dial to dim down to 400, 600, 850 etc if heat is an issue. Hang it high as you can In the tent with zip ties skip the ratchets you need every inch of height.
