Had an awfully hard time getting this girl started so there aren't any pictures I'm afraid!
My first seed germed no problems and sprouted, but two days later I fell on her with the watering can :( Then I burned through two seeds trying to germ them, was most likely not paying enough attention to them. Finally the third one popped and we got little Kaylee :)
Kaylee has been a slow started - I had planned to top her but you can see here at the end of Week 2 she's still quite small. Will just have to stick with LST. Will be a nice comparison with the two other girls I'm running who were topped. :)
Kaylee has picked up steam nicely this week :D I'm starting her LST today, there's already a ton of growth at all the nodes along the main stem so I think she'll take to it well. But I also have no idea what I'm doing so it could be interesting!
When I was trying to do LST on this one I was a bit too baked and snapped the stem! :( I taped her up with a band-aid and she's still chugging along so hopefully it doesn't stunt her too much. Sigh.
So she's still alive! Might have stunted her a bit but it's hard to tell since she was a slow starter anyway. She seems healthy enough so will just have to keep on and see how she goes.
We have pistils! Mixed emotions about this one as I would have liked her to be quite a bit bigger before starting to flower but that's my own fault for upsetting her so early. The limited training I could do has resulted in this kinda spherical number haha but my main goal from now is just to get her to harvest. 😋 Then cure the crap outta her and get some tasty caramel goodness.
This week has been another shocking one for humidity. I got the dehumidifier I order but it doesn't help at all. Guess I'll have to fork out for a proper one, thinking I'll get a 4 in 1 portable aircon unit. They're like $400 but a proper dehumidifier looks like at least $250 anyway and I can use the aircon for my home office too when the plants don't need it. Sigh.
ANYWHO Kaylee here has picked up heaps this week, she's a bit taller than my other girls now! I'm really excited to see how her flowers develop. She's been looking perfect so I decided to try and pre-empt the part of my grow where I always get nute burn and start flushing her.
Kaylee has become a total beast, she's uge! Being given half the tent seems to suit her, cause she's filled it. Really looking forward to seeing these flowers bulk up, could be impressive! I've got the dehumidifier now so it's much more stable in there. Still can't get it down as low as I like, but considering the 85% RH everywhere else in the house, I'll take 60 - 65% any day.
I'm dropping back the nutes this week since this is normally where I start to get tip burn.
Rolling rollin rollin. Not much to report this week, have been harvesting one of my girls so she's taking up all my time.
In trying to go easy on the nutes and avoid tip-burn last week, she started showing signs of nitro deficiency and turning pale. So I increased back again slowly and got tip burn. Plus another odd deficiency with the rusty spots on the edges of the leaves. So that's frustrating. I've been giving her a flush once a week and watering to run-off every time. Any ideas would be great!
Oooh she's looking exciting now. Steadily putting on weight, and just so many bud sites. I wasn't confident at all with this girl after the didgy start I gave her, but she's just been full of surprises.
Sorry for the week long gap between pics, broke my ankle so it's tricky enough looking after the girls.
Kaylee here finally got the tent to herself... for like 2 days. Then I chucked in the babies for my next grow. Poor floss.
Buds are fattening up, I've started having to support some of them. Gonna start her flush in a couple days!
So I was hoping to start her flush this week, but she's just no there yet. In about 4 days I'm going to have to start the flush either way to make room for the new ones getting bigger. She's stacking on the weight nicely, and the buds are legit all the way into the middle of the plant. So much popcorn. Really should have chopped those sites earlier. :P On the whole though she's just budtacular!
So I'm still unable to update the harvest on this one seeing as it's taking foreeeeeever to trim. But we're getting there! And I finally have a couple days off tomorrow so I'll try to smash it out. Should be a decent yield but lost 3 of my big colas to mould. This humidity better let up soon, my next grow has just entered the flowering stretch and it's still bloody 70% RH every day. Weird summer we're having.
Anywho, hopefully will finish this one soon, sorry for the delays 😀
This grow took a lot longer than I would have liked, especially the trimming part. Really showed the importance of nipping the lower bud sites to put more energy into the big ones. By the end of the trimming I was basically putting whole branches into the trim pile, so much popcorn! But this girl shows that autos aren't just a couple of oz anymore, you can get really decent amounts in a relatively short time. :D
