Girl scout cookies, autoflowering, is the strain that this diary is highlighting. The breeder is Original Sensible. The seeds were sourced from directly from their seed bank.
I planted the seeds directly into 9 litre pots, planting two seeds into one pot and one into the other. All three seeds came up.
They were watered in with Piranha beneficial fungi with some fish emulsion. I use Charlie Carp because it is environmentally friendly. 😎😀
"Super soil" grabbed my attention awhile ago. As a hydro grower it seemed like the Grail. No more endless bottles of nutrients! I enjoy organic gardening, composting and worm farming in my backyard. A soil mixture containing everything that a plant needs would be wonderful. This style of gardening will become more and more popular, in the future.
I make compost in a few ways. Composting old wood, cardboard and other organic matter with horse manure is, what is contained, in my oldest compost pile. Drunken composting in a small child’s pool gives me a great source of fresh soil. Worm composting is another. (These are all methods that can be used with a small amount of space.)
Using a mix of the soil made with the drunken composting, mixed with old compost and coco coir had everything that we would need to grow primo cannabis, theoretically. I figure that supplemental compost teas will fill any nutritional gaps.
Looking forward to seeing how we grow! 😶😀
The seedlings have quickly began looking very healthy. In the pot with the two I culled the weakest out.
Using the myco Piranha and Tarantuala on the first day of this week I then added some worm juice and a tablespoon of molasses a few days afterwards, feeding the microbes.
Not much else to speak of this week. Looking good.
First day of the week I fed them with a little bit of fish emulsion, worm castings juice as well as establishing an agricultural grade mycorrizae product into the soil.
I'm still planning to continue using the Advanced Nutrients Piranha and Tarantula myco powder. I'm interested to see the results. 😃
Growth has been immensely fast. The photos of the GSC auto that I took this week are missing in action. Rubbing my fingers along the stem there is a really yummy odour,
skunky and sweet.
The photo that I have added, in it's place, is of a random autoflowering plant that I'm growing.
That plant finished within three months, from seed.
The idea of auto flowering cannabis is growing on me. I remember reading High Times in the early 90's, when autos were just an idea, a dream. The possibilities of
breeding them seemed like a pipe dream, possible but a dream, nonetheless. Times have changed. Original Sensible have made an impact in the world and I am always impressed
with their work.
Looking forward to growing some Wedding Cake ! I like writing, here, on Grow Diary. The format is neat.
💪🙏👍
Beginning this week we top dressed the soil, adding some alfalfa meal, diatomaceous earth and some mushroom compost. Watering, we used the AN beneficials, Piranha and Tarantula with a cap full of fish hydrosylate. We used Gogo juice in the next watering, to feed the microbes.
The plants smell quite sweet and both look very vibrant.
These plants grew so fast this week. It’s amazing me. I’m impressed with how similar they look to each other. Uniformity is a great sign.
Attack of the Aphids ! 😈😡😕
Each morning I carefully check the leaves of the plants. Making sure to check the underside of the leaves is important. Insects hide underneath, laying eggs. Telltales signs of insect activity can be found in different forms.
One morning this week I noted some damage on the Girl Scout Cookie plants. The majority of the damage was limited to one plant, with some leaves at the top of one of the ladies copping some very minor damage. Very quickly I identified the critters as aphids, seasonal Spring aphids running amuck through our garden ! They hide very well. After a thorough inspection I found a fair few aphids on and around the plants, nibbling the leaves at every chance they got.
With a mixture of molasses and water I watered the soil of the plants first, watering the leaves as well. I chopped off all of the leaves that were damaged. Insects such as these are unavoidable in an organic garden which has a lot going on.
Knowing how to identify and manage their presence is a key to growing successfully.
Yesterday we watered the ladies with some fish hydrosylate, molasses and Fulvic 1400. They look healthy for it. Today I top dressed the soil with some worm castings, watering them with some plain water.
I will avoid adding anything except for water for a bit. I feel confident that I've nailed it.
Still very impressive plants whose uniformity is really impressing me. There is an intense odour going on when rubbing the stem.
A few uneventful weeks, with flowering commencing. Finally got the aphids under control although they, and other biters, have been
nibbling on the leaves, making small amounts of damage.
The odour is getting stronger. It's not loud and noticeable although the odour of dankness, ready to come through is definitely there.
Still uniform, I'm looking forward to growing this strain again. Next time I would plant in a bigger pot, 15 - 20 litre pots would make for big plants.
The stems are thick. These are strong, resilient plants.
I'm loving these GSC's! 😀
Beautiful plants. Next time around I'll use bigger pots.
I believe that pot size influences the size of the yield.
Adding molasses to my watering this week, for calmag, as well as liquid from my worm farm. I have been top dressing my
soil with worm castings and powdered silica.
The odour is becoming noticeable. When I walk out my back door I am hit with a resinous waif. 👽
My neighbours are cool. I'm glad that harvest will not be too long though ! 😄
These plants are beauties. The photos don't do them justice. The bud formation is very impressive.
We've had a fair bit of rain so I'm keeping an eye out for pests.
The odour is coming along. It's hard to describe. Smells skunky I guess, resinous.
The buds are tight. They still have a bit of fattening up to do.
Lemonberry Haze autos by Original Sensible are next on my grow menu. Wedding Cake photo for the seasonal strain ! 👍
Autos are a great alternative to photos for quick harvests of great smoke.
I will use bigger pots next time, at least 15 litres. I'm sure that the harvest would be better.
Exciting times. 😂👈👉😎
This week we had some rain. After noticing some damage on some leaves I found a bunch of caterpillars.
Cabbage moths - the little critters managed to do a little bit of damage in the short time that they were eating our plants.
I believe there are natural preventative measures to take next time to avoid these guys.
I'll be making some super soil soon, following Subcool's recipe.
The bud formation is great. It's chunked up so fast. There was a little bit of bud that had dried, enough for a cone.
I sampled a smoke and it is very strong ! 👍😀😵👌 It has a really good hit to it.
I'm no lightweight either but this is a beautiful strain.
Looking forward to smoking more of this when we harvest it.
The trichomes are cloudy with a little bit of amber. I'm happy that these are as mature as I like them.
I'm still mind blown by the fact that this is only 11 weeks of growth.
They smell really good, skunky and kind of strong.
It's nearly time . . . . . . 😅
Next post will be a harvest post.
This strain is really special, growing extremely fast. Train her fast. She grows fast.
The odour is light, until near the end when it expresses itself a bit more, becoming somewhat pungent.
I'm so happy 😀 with the end result, really looking forward to growing this strain again.
The smoke from this is no joke ! It's strong and sits up there with the best.
Bam ! Go - to - strain, GSC auto by Original Sensible.
I realised that I still have one of these seeds left and planted it. I hope it pops.
Sorry that the quality of the harvest photos are lacking. My phone broke and I've had to make do with something
that has not had a very good quality. The photos don't do the colas justice.
I dried these upside down in a cupboard, with the leaves on.
Using the leaves as "handles", so to speak, saving the delicate resin glands from any more handling than necessary.
Smoking this is a dream. It is strong, a blooming powerhouse !
As it has only just finished drying the subtler tastes are still lurking in the background.
It tastes great, tastes that are pronounced at the moment are pine with a pungent floral flavour to boot.
It's hit me mind, body and soul, with that super epic feeling that a powerful strain can bring. (cue spotlights and special effects *)
To me - this is the perfect balance of Sativa and Indica. I'm really impressed with this strain. Will be growing this one again. 👌
