Starting this grow diary off to the side for my prospecting missions. Clones of some quality medical grade herb are available to me, but I seek the harder to find "front end" cannabinoids, so I'm prospecting bag seeds from previous black market dealings in an attempt to strike proverbial gold. Started experiment #5 in a class of 11 seeds on 7/17/2017, as of 10/27 it is on day 103. It has spent the last two weeks in my tent under 12/12 with 4 other clones. I'm deciding today to move it out of flower since its showing signs of femininity and into veg at my friend's place with more light and space in his veg tent. My plan is to veg and top it for up to 4 additional weeks in order to secure a round of clones before proceeding to flower. That way if the plant demonstrates its worth, the growth of clones can begin immediately.
Pictures to come. Unfortunately #5 is at my friend's place and he's been without power since Sunday night / Monday morning. Not exactly sure on the fate of the poor plant. There hasn't exactly been a great track record of plant health for one reason or another when I move things there.
#5 is reveging well. Looks weird and kind of alien. Terpenes smell like #2 so I'm hopeful of what's to come from these clones. Hopefully clone in 1-2 weeks.
#5 is healthy and growing, looking pretty weird. Going to give it one more week and then top it again, then in two weeks we'll clone it and in 5 weeks or so it'll enter flower (the mother plant we're looking at right now).
So, for those just tuning in. Experiment #5, a bag seed of unknown genetics, started on 7/15/17, grown in window veg indirect sunlight until about september. It was then vegged into flower for 2 weeks in a tent until end of october in order to sex the plant. It has since been in 24/7 light reveg-ing like an alien.
I took one other picture, closer up, but it was too blurry. It's a healthy plant though. Transplanted it to a 5gal friday 12/1. Its bushy with a lot of new growth. Going to clone from it tomorrow. I think it goes to flower in 2 weeks.
Update 12/3: So my friend and I cloned the veg today including experiment #5, and I took the opportunity to clean it up a bit too since it had been bushing and vegging all over with some funky alien looking new growth. Some of the pictures I added capture some of the oddities I encountered like tops / shoots forming off the stem of a leaf in a few places. My theory as to why its so weird is I had it in 12/12 for 2 weeks before I brought it to my friends to re-veg in his tent which he is running 24 light at the moment so this thing hasn't seen night in about a month and it thinks the sun is here forever, so it's pretty confused. I think it's going to blow up once we put it in the flower room.
Can you believe it, #5 will be going to flower this weekend, fingers crossed for how it comes out. Should be done sometime early February in time for my birthday, noice. I added a few pictures from my friend's current flower round too just because I had no other place to really share them. Stuff in the flower room are "Strawberry Cheesecake, Shiva Skunk and "the Ashley".
Alright, So #5 is finally back into flower. We cleared the flower room on Thursday/Friday of 4 plants that we harvested Saturday. There are still 2 plants flowering with #5 that have about 2 weeks to go, then it will be 2 strawberry cheesecakes 2 Shiva Skunks and 2 "Ashley"s with #5 for the next harvest. The plant is getting nutes but I'm not feeding them, my friend is, and I honestly don't pay attention to his regiment too closely, its mostly by-the-books Advanced Nutrient products.
#5 is looking good. It had a lot of dead growth on the bottom / inside and needed a lot of cleaning on friday, but she's looking perky AF now, recently added a 1000w hps to the 600w ceramics in the friend's flower room.
#5 is looking pretty excellent in my opinion. The plant has some great stacking / node frequency and the buds are starting off with some nice heft. The plant is just so grateful to be flowering. Checked for signs of stress but she's a healthy young lady with no signs of gender confusion. Feeling optimistic about this mystery bag seed.
#5 is looking good this week. It had spent the last 6 days under a new 1kw hps in the flower room and I think i was starting to see some symptoms of too-much light/bleaching on the top of the colas so I swapped #5's position under the hps with a SCC on the end, hopefully that helps it level out a bit. My photography skills weren't on point last night either so some of the photos are sub-par quality.
#5 is looking great, smells great. Has some real piney notes. I think the terpine profile is going to be great. 2 more weeks from today and we'll harvest.
#5 is looking awesome. I couldn't get much of an odor off it when I tried to get a good sniff, but, I'm hopeful it's going to be a worthy strain to keep around and that it will be worth the half year of effort put into growing it from bag seed, sexing, and starting clones.

Happy Harvest Day!
Unknown Bag Seed Prospect #5 - Custom Breeder & Strain
Everything has been harvested and dried and jarred and just the beginning of cure has begun. That being said, I've had a chance to sample the #5 and I must say that I'm overall disappointed in how it came out. I do keep in mind that this plant was a mother plant, and had experienced quite a lot of stress in its life, which is what I hope to attribute the very small seeds I discovered in the couple of nugs that I have broken up so far. The overall smoke isn't that appealing either, but I hope some of that is to change as the cure really develops. Compared to the other strains I am currently involved with growing, this one had the second best yield per-plant, but I'm not sure the overall quality can stand up to the Shiva Skunk or the Strawberry Cheese Cake.
