We interrupt your regular programming, a new diary brought to you by a quality growmie named BudXs 🇨🇦, representing a province of great nature expanse and urban development. This gift has some mystery and intrigue, i.e. a story. OG Kush ‘98 is a strain that was purchased in Toronto, Ontario in 2000. All I can say is .... GO LEAFS GO. This is a self pollinated seed, a hermie? Lets rock and see what happens. Appreciate it in any result! My typical setup, hung mylar in an unfinished basement. Direct furnace input for cold, output ventilation for summer. Lighting is a cheap full spectrum LED (300W) and a smaller portion of the same construction, 1/6th. The smaller pod is over the seedlings. I seeded in a peat pod in HP Pro Mix soil and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae. This is day 2. (Shout out to other rad growmies Njaak, AnneJ, and HellishJam, lest their seeds don’t pop). Now a return to your regular programming...

Day 8 for the OG Kush ‘98 seedling. Just growing roots below the soil so not much visual change yet. Chillin’ away under the lights I’ve had no problems, it has been perky. A bit wet at the moment, but no matter.

Day 14 from seed for OG Kush ‘98. Another wasted week as I’ve struggled with temperatures. The outdoor temps in my region are all over the place and on warm days my furnace is triggered alot less from upstairs. On top of that I overwatered. I am just terrible in these stages and there are plenty of diaries to prove it. I’m sure it will bounce back its just a weak entry. Boo-urns.

Day 21 from seed for OG Kush ‘98. This week entailed rearranging and clearing some plants out of veg. This should give me better airflow and heat distribution. Early in the week I applied very dilute plant food, 24-8-16 All Purpose Miracle Grow, Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag) and blackstrap molasses. Yesterday, I transplanted into a mix of 10 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 parts worm castings: 1 part Fox Farms Happy Frog soil.

Day 28 from seed of BudXs version of OG Kush ‘98. Transplanting worked and the plant recovered this past week. After leaving for a few days and not meddling it was able to gain some size and plenty of green. Things are looking positive here, so just stay the course. I believe the curved leaf is just excess nutrients as the container really dried out and it absorbed amendment.

Day 35 from seed for OG Kush ‘98. After making a little comeback last week I was disciplined and allow it to really soak everything up. Last night I transplanted into a larger container and it got water (and soil amendment). It will take a bit to recover and I expect some adjustment to the food in the soil. Because I’ve struggled with soil amendment I layered the bottom with just HP Pro Mix as well as the top. I only side filled with amendment. 40 HP Pro Mix: 5 Fox Farms Happy Frog: 5 worm castings: 1 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 1 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 1 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Blood and Bonemeal pellets: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 alfalfa meal compost: 1 pulverized egg shells.

Day 42 for BudXs’ OG Kush ‘98. The transplant has really kicked this thing into overdrive! Its looking really good. My plan is to flower this sea of green style and will take side clones. It looks like better days ahead. To boot, spring is approaching and my temps are up.

Day 49 from seed for OG Kush ‘98. Shout-out to BudXs for the seed 🤙🏻. Just water and veg. time. Everything is looking great. I took four clones after the photo shoot. Trimming the big leaves as they come. If I can get some leaf fade I’ll toss it into flower next week.

Day 53 from seed for OG Kush ‘98. The day has finally come to move tents. I have already taken clones. It is an ideal size and looks very healthy. I really like the nice thin leaf fingers. I will still be giving just water through stretch. The group shot at the end is actually my flower tent, not my veg. tent.

Day 60 from seed for OG Kush ‘98. One week of flowering complete, about seven to go. This is sort of mystery in terms of specific strain info so I’ll aim for eight weeks of flowering. Just giving water. Lots of stretching going on. My flowering lighting is two 300 actual watt LEDs with 96watts of yellow LEDs supplementing the spectrum.

Day 67 from seed for OG Kush ‘98. Two weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. I’ve only given water up until this point. I am primed to start into flower food this week. I can see OG liked to stretch, noted for next time. Everything looks good (I think). Really hoping this plant stacks some buds.

Day 74 from seed for OG Kush ‘98. Three weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. Most recent I fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). A solid stalk. Very defined bunches of buds at each node.

Day 81 for OG Kush ‘98. Four weeks of flowering complete, four weeks to go. Looking good although I am surprised by the progression in the leaves. It has been steady, and the last irrigation was water in fact. It could be deficiency of course, in which case it will get food soon. The buds are bulbous, I can’t wait for them to dense. Really hoping this one kicks some a**.

Day 88 for OG Kush. Five weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. I recently fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). The colour has really advanced, even since feeding. It seems to have progressed in both instances of food and water. The buds look swollen, and smell a bit fuel like. I wouldn’t say thats accurate, but its becoming stronger.

Day 95 for OG Kush. Six weeks of flowering weeks, two weeks to go. The purple just keeps coming and coming. Most recent is water and will continue here on out. In the first couple pictures you can see bananas growing out the top of a couple of buds. I assume genetic. This looks and reminds me exactly of Black Rhino. Unfortunately, it smells sort of like Black Rhino too. Which is to say a bit perfume like? Hard to describe. Fragrant. The “flower” symbol on GrowDiaries tastes. We shall see though I don’t judge before chopping. Good visual show though.

Day 100 for OG Kush ‘98. Seven weeks of flowering complete, one projected week to go. I’m just totally guessing with this one, the fade has certainly progressed. My stock of cannabis is urging me to cut a plant early, of the ones almost done, of course I’m going to chop the one that looks so progressed and is growing bananas everywhere. So, it may be a bit head spacey in terms of potency. I will still aim to hit eight weeks flowering with the clones I currently have vegging. You can clearly see the bananas I was referring to, in natural light photos. I flushed today as usual, and have been giving water for some time. One nice thing about small plant size is being able to fully flush in a splash sink, as opposed to flooding my space.

Week 17. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

This a report on OG Kush ‘98 a historic strain from my pal BudXs - hit this Canadian boi up with some likes. This strain is from Toronto more than Kawaii Leonard ever was. This is one of different strains in a sea of green so it is just one stalk. OG Kush was one of the better growers in this generation of sea of green. Straight up, and the flowering stretch was large. It shows good potential to grow fast and shoot up. During flowering, it showed some deep purple colours despite feeding or not feeding. It seemed destined no matter what, I will enjoy seeing if its clones do the same thing. Smell during growing wasn't great, very fragrant, like perfume, it reminded me of the strain Black Rhino (not in a good way). On top of that, I noticed some bananas popping out of the bud. From stress? Genetics? Not sure. I let it hang around until week 7 of flowering then I cut her, mostly because I was out of weed. Harvest was no issue, though I found some pollen on a very low branch. Leaf structure was easy to trim. Upon drying and beginning of cure, I’ll admit the strain came around. What I find the flavour becomes is fragrant, flowery, perfume like, as expected. But it also exhibits some other interesting flavours, a deep sweet maybe, or sharpness, and it mixes in interesting ways. I found this strain did enhance bowls with some interesting flavour, but maybe not what I would often do solo. The effects are there, sort of in between somewhat. I find this tells me I am generally stoned, so it feels just hyrbid - not sure if this is true. I’m appreciative of this trial and don’t give up easily. I have another generation of clones, four OG Kush’98, that will test this all again. I’ll grow seeds from other GD users 10 times out of 10, regardless of quality. It was fun to pop a seed and then give thanks to a growmie 🙏🏻 Officially I’m leaning 6.5/10. Some points off for the bananas and pollen, for the at times funky smells and flavour, and the middle effects. Whats clear is this isn’t a Black Rhino repeat, I’ll actually vape OG Kush ‘98 and grow it again.

This one got the usual treatment, a thorough flush, a little bit of dark, and then harvest. Wet trim, bud wash, then hang to dry. The wash is swirling in a container of baking soda, lemon juice, water first, and then swirling in a container of water only.

@BudXs, good harvest. I will confirm your suspicions, hidden in the lowest branches, once I started taking veg. off, I got a puff of pollen.
