I think WW needs no description, it was the first weed I grew and the only one I love until today.
En tot vandaag ben ik veel jaar getrouwd met zij.
I had bought many seeds from ILGM before Menneer Robert decided not to ship to South America anymore (btw I live in Uruguay) so I have a bunch of white widow seeds and gold leaf that are running old (almost 3 years). I'm always trying new strains so I almost always have a little excess of feminized seeds.
I put to germinate four seeds, from which two never did it, and two germinated, but one of the seedlings died soon after sprouting.
I have read that with old seeds the main problem is that the seed husk gets hard and prevents water to come in or the tap root to emerge, so I rubbed the seeds with sandpaper (fine grade) and then soaked them in 100 mL deionized water with 4 drops H2O2 at pH for 36 hours.
Two seeds never managed it and one died of the two which succeded to develop a tap root.
After a few days I started to fertigate on 12 3 2020 (twice a day) and I notices that despite I use a very low strength solution ca. 250 ppm, run off was very high fro a seedling ( it was about 600 ppm) so flushing with the fertigation solution I managed to put that value down to 350 ppm which is more friendly to the roots. I think that since I'm starting a fertigation regime, run off wil be soon near to the value of the solution inflow TDS.
This lady is making her way on her own and hers alone. I'm still fertigating her with a dilute Start fertilizer solution, approx. 280 ppm, soon I'll be changing to something tastier, with more N!
I changed to Grow fertilizer, the solution is about 350 ppm and 0,2 g/L fertilizer (low) the great part of ppm's value is given by other solutes.
She's elongated a bit, I see the first leaves which were a little deformed are yellowing but the rest of the new leaves are looking healthy, so I wouldn't worry...I saw the first leaves had some kind of problem at the first day she opened her cothyledons.
I see her fine, keep on fertigating her with a medium low strenght Grow solution, for mature plants, because she's not a seedling anymore, despite her size doesn't show that.
25 03 I removed the yellow leaves.
Despite growth seems to have stopped, if she doesn't show any deficiency, I don't worry. I've seen this with this strain, in a sudden she starts to grow nice and bushy.
She's being fertigating daily with low strength Grow fertilizer and other suppplemtens/additives.
This poor dwarf doesn't seem to be growing at all...I'm keeping her because I know that sometime she may take off growing but if things go like these in the next few weeks I'll discard her, I may plant her outside and she'll die because of the cold weather that is coming in autumm and winter. I'm sorry.
But hope is not gone yet, I'll keep her going some more time. I acknowledge that she comes from a old seed so she may have had trouble being born etc. so I'm having patience with her.
Btw the tips of the older leaves are yellowing but since new leaves don't show issues I won't change her fertigation regime yet.
Whoa
I'm back with this one, I had decided to terminate her but then I thought kind of "what the hell, I'll be giving her her time, I have no rush, I've just started autumm-winter crops and I can keep this bitchy dwarf where I keep my autoflowerings". All of a sudden after nine weeks from seed, she looks like thriving and willing to complete her life cycle. I'm glad to have give her a chance. But I did not because I had been merciful with her but that I didn't lose much keeping her as long as she was not the only plant I had.
Regarding training, I don't know if it is advisable that I stressed her, but I can't afford to let her grow much (if she ever does that) and I'll have to top her /mainline/ etc. her to slow down her growth, while waiting for an opportunity to put her to flowering in the photoperiod grow room, which is by this time, already full.
This little bitch, as I already presumed, was gonna take off growing when I have had compromised the room of the flowering tent to other plants. But I think it's good that she had finally recovered. I hate taking care of a non-responsive plants because my patience quickly drains when I'm spending a lot of time and money on plants that are lost without remedy. Fortunately this has not been the case, as it may seem.
03 05 2020 I decided I'm not going to top her, instead I will LST her and lollipop if necessary, later. I'll try to gather all photoperiodic plants when I flip to 12/12 in the main tent, but I really doubt that I'll have room for her, yet, for I have 4 plants in there waiting for flowering.
04 05 2020 she seems to respond OK to LST, I removed a couple of "big" fan leaves that stayed in the way of light reaching growth tips 😂
