The idea behind this grow is to try and find a few good mothers out of the bunch. I plan to take clones off of them as early as possible. I will then take those clones and flower them shortly after the root to get and idea of what they can do. At the same time i will be growing out the potential mothers and try to get them on a nice mother maintenance program of regular cuttings etc.
Will see how this goes as it is only my second grow and I have never cloned / created mothers before.
11/18 Day 1: Germinated seeds from Native Seeds Company, they had a variety pack with 4 seeds of each. As mentioned above, I popped 2 of each strain with hopes to grow one of each, decide what works for me and then keep the mother I like best which I will then clone out and fill my little room. I used the 18h in water then into paper towels. They were all ready between 2 and 3 days. Water was ph 6.0
11/19 Day 2: No update
11/20 Day 3: Began moving them to ProMix type soil (available locally). Used straight up RO water PH 6.0 19C
11/21 Day 4: planted remaining seeds when they were ready
11/22 Day 5:
11/23 Day 6:
11/24 Day 7: Ladies got their first drink today. Mixed 1 l RO water, PH5.9 300 ppm
These guys and gals are looking nice, EXCEPT, I accidentally splashed nutrient water on them and they came away with some nute / light burn. Live and learn... ie. be more careful! LOL
11/25 Day 8: Just watching the ladies...
11/26 Day 9: Just finished playing Enter Sandman to the babies. I thought they could grow up listening to some good tunes.
11/27 Day 10: Hey they look thirsty so I cooked up so nute mix, 2L at 630ppm and PH 5.8
11/28 Day 11: Tonight they are listening to the Tragically Hip...
11/29 Day 12: They were already asleep so I quietly tucked them in...
11/30 Day 13: LUCKY 13!
12/1 Day 14: 25 days until Christmas, better start ordering my obligatory presents for everyone...
These plants are growing like weeds which is great! ;) Transplanted them into 1L home made air pots. I like them as they are cheap, relatively easy to make and they seem to work well. It's almost impossible to over water using them with ProMix. As you can see the roots are looking good from the initial cups.
12/2 Day 15: Drink up little ladies (little girls doesn't sound PC?) Today is the day they graduate to 1L air pots... Giving them straight water today. PH 6.1 used about 5L of water for them all.
12/3 Day 16: They seem to like Led Zepplin...
12/4 Day 17: They were not very talkative tonight but they do appear to be growing nicely.
12/5 Day 18: Which way is up again? Nothing to report... They are still under the LED auqarium light but it doesn't seem to be bothering them any. Nice blue and white spectrum.
12/6 Day 19: They all look so good. Well except for this letuce, I never really talked about her much, I feel like I need to keep it for some reason and see what happens if I flower it...
12/7 Day 20: They still don't need water, but I'll bet they are rooting up a storm down there!
12/8 Day 21: End of week 3 (or week 1 of veg...) Tonight they are listening to Country to get a bit of variety in their diet. I figure it's similar to nutrients, you can't feed them every single time...
12/9 Day 22: Wooooo Yaaaaa, tonight's a great night, not sure why but hey let's turn up the tunes.... Life is a highway, I want ride it all night long! Gave the ladies a bit more water even thought I don't think they need it. Just a bit so I had something to do....
12/10 Day 23: Hmmm, I'm tired.
12/11 Day 24: I need to start giving this journal some more love, my Northern Lights are wrapping up soon...
12/12 Day 25: hmmm thirsty ladies. They are starting to look hungry so I mixed up some vitals...6 liters some will be saved for the pending transplant after I get some better pots.
12/13 Day 26: I made a tough decision very early on and selected 1 of each of the strains. Then I transplanted the selected ones into their final pots (3.5 gallon). The others are supposed to find a home at a friends' house. I also moved them into the flower room under a 315W CMH 3000K lamp. They are still on 18/6 lighting schedule. The Northern Lights Autos should be out in a few weeks at which point they should be ready for cuttings and being switched to 12/12. Yes, the light is only 3K I know, but it does have quite a bit of red as CMH has a pretty full spectrum.
12/14 Day 27: Hold my beer while I kiss your girlfriend.... Yep more country!
12/16 - Removed the wall between the two rooms to make a single 4x8. Also built myself a drain table. I used plastic roof material from the big orange store. I sloped it towards the front and plan to add an eavestrough or something along the front to bring it back to a drain bucket. I was thinking it would be pretty easy to convert to a drip feed system down the road if I ever wanted to play with that. It's also off the ground so the roots aren't as cold and I don't have to bend over as much which is maybe the biggest reason I did it... I still have 70" from table to ceiling so it shouldn't be much of a problem. I have ordered another 315W CMH light for in there and will be building a DIY Light Mover. Good times 😁

12/17 Day 30: Struggling with temps in the bigger room being too low at night. Gonna need to deal with it.
.
12/18 Day 31: I think the need something to drink so I am mixing up a bunch of nutes. pH 5.9 ppm 650 I am saving the left over to feed over the next week.
.
12/19 Day 32: Fat bottomed girls, you make the rocking world go round!
.
12/20 Day 33: Tom Sawyer, Rush... Makes me wanna turn it up!!! No water for the ladies again. Wow, I need to do something about the cold nights, some of the ladies are stretching like mad.
.
12/21 Day 34: OK, OK let's kick this into high gear! I pulled out one of the Northern Lights Autos and now the other one should be about a week left. I started flushing it today. 316g Wet... My ink bird temperature and humidity controllers came today. I installed them but only hooked up the exhaust fan to the cooling for today. I might go look for a little heater later to keep the girls warm tonight. Oh forgot to mention they are listening to some Aerosmith tonight...
.
12/22 Day 35: Day 35 came and went. They didn't listen to anything last night. I pulled a few fan leaves here and there. They love the room... Temps were much better over night after adding the Temp controller Exhaust Fan and small space heater are on the Temp controller . Nothing hooked up to the Humidity controller yet. My dehumidifier is buried under so many boxes in the storage room!
12/23 Day 36: Hmmm, nobody home but me myself and I... Hanging out in the lab looking at all the pretty ladies. ;) Coffee in one hand chocolate in the other. Last night the temps stayed around 20 degrees which I am very happy with. I am however worried about having both lights on and the heater so have been manually switching the plugs in and out each morning and before bed time. I need to figure out what circuits I have available because 630W of light plus fans and a small heater is a little much for my liking on a 15A circuit so I am manually ensuring it all can't come on at the same point. If I add a dehumidifier I am positive I would be begging for trouble! Ladies are looking great today. I saw a few holes in a few leaves a couple of days ago so I got some bug-b-gon from the hydro store. I haven't used it yet other than on a test leaf as the problem never spread. I am however prepared and will likely give the veg plants a quick spray before switching to 12/12 just to be safe. The only pests I've had in the garden have been a handful of gnats and they are definitely under control so I am pleased but prepared.
.
12/24 Day 37: Christmas Eve, the ladies had to spend the evening alone. There was a mandatory Party Evening. Was great, had some beer and enjoyed the evening with family. As much as I think of the girls as family, not everyone does... ;)
.
12/25 Day 38: Merry Christmas! Boy oh boy these ladies were thirsty. The got their first full pot feed / water today which was roughly 3.5 L per pot. 5.7 pH with 700 ppm, the humidity has been hovering around 50 the past few days but I'll bet that skyrockets tonight... It is making me worry a lot about the plant I have that is pretty much done flowering. I kinda want to pull it tonight just to make sure... But then I also want to let it go longer. Maybe I will leave it outside the Flower Room tonight to see what happens and then decide in the morning.
.
12/26 Day 39: The ladies were rocking out the Christmas tunes tonight. Nothing to report at all in regards to the ladies. That said, my electrician stopped by today and installed two 120V 20A circuits to the garden. Now I can sleep knowing that I won't be tripping any breakers or overheating any wires. In a few days I'd like to start cleaning up the power cords to make it all pretty... I also have to pick up a few cover plates as he didn't have the right ones in the truck. Oh and I installed a pipe to collect all of the run off from the drain table down into a bucket. Next watering should be much easier to deal with! WOO HOO!
.
12/27 Day 40: HELP.... I found some creatures living at the base of a plant in the soil... What are these guys? I immediately sprayed some BUG-B-GON on all of the vegging plants and scattered some diatomaceous earth on the soil, it's all I can think off off the top of my head. Quick search of common cannbis pests doesn't seem to turn anything up. Looking for opinions of others!
.
12/28 Day 41: Whazzup?! I haven't seen any more bugs. I did get a dehumidifier in the room and set it to 50% Just playing with the girls and spun them around a few times, I think they like that. Man I am starting to see the room filling in. Too much I think. I need to consider culling the lot very soon.
.
12/29 Day 42: I started defoliating and a bit of topping maintenance and then realized I wanted to make some changes to my cloner so it didn't leak anymore. I filled it with water in preparation for defoliating tomorrow and trying to get a few clones to see how they root. These girls got much bigger than I had hoped for in a mother as they stretched too when it got cold at night so I am thinking that I need to start new mothers and flower some of these plants out instead.
.
12/30 Day 43: I never made it as a wise man; Couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing. Nickleback baby! Well, I got the cloner going and moved a bunch of cuttings today as I cleaned up. As I said before I tried to give away the plants I wasn't keeping but the guy that was going to take them had to back out last minute when his wife found out. So today 7 plants were taken down and destroyed and one left with my mother. Height had a lot to do with my decision on which to keep. Those that stretched too much were removed, the funny thing is that's was mostly the ones I had originally decided to be my keepers but they were the ones with the huge temp swings when I first transplanted them.
.
While I had everything out for evaluation I cleaned the drain table then got it dirty when I put everything back in there... ;) I also topped everything when I had it out as I'd like to try and keep them no more than 24" before the switch. I think tomorrow I will try and make a few scrogs then I can probably Supercrop them into it. I know today should be the start of a new week but I'll do that tomorrow... Oh I just spaced out... I'd better save now. Maybe I can grab a few photos after. If not definitely tomorrow when I start the new week.
1/1 Day 45: Happy New Year girls. Today was a big day for the ladies, they were all scrogged and given a large drink of nutes they will need to help pull them through it as I had to super-crop them heavily to get them under there. I'm pretty sure they will make it through the ordeal. Unfortunately I wasn't able to play them any tunes today as the Bluetooth speaker needs to be recharged.
.
PS I know I should not use un treated wood. I will be painting before the next grow but didn't have time today.
