Took a little longer to break soil than I would have thought. Planted in pots March 14. Some mild stretching, moved the light closer by the end of the week.
Good growth this week. Began adding some nutes sometime during this week. One hiccup though, as my sister mistakenly turned the humidifier on max and nearly drowned the grow tent at a whopping 91% humidity for a few hours while I was at work. Hard to say how long it was like that. The plant featured in this grow didn't seem too bothered by it, but its sister in another pot growing next to it (who is already like 3 days behind the growth of this one) seemed to suffer quite a bit (leaves curled, very slow growth) and is even more stunted. I'm gonna let them both grow but am focusing the journal on the more successful of the two so far.
Started LST. Used a wire that I found to be too heavy and strong to use easily, so I bought ties for the next time I need to tie down. The stem is a little weak and the plant wanted to fall down when I tied it to the side so I am propping it up with some wire near the stem.
Growth coming along nicely. Doubled the nutrient strength for this week and she is taking it just fine. I forgot to get pics right on day 28 for the end of week 4 so I took some the next morning. Adjusted the top tie to pull down a bit more as well. The stems are looking much stronger now, no more flop!
Growth is going quickly now. Pistils are now showing, with new bud sites popping up every day. Keeping her on veg nutes for her water right now, but I could imagine the switch to flower nutes will be soon. I want to wait until she is done most vertical growth before switching but I will play it by ear. Stems are looking strong and healthy. Did some tucking of the fan leaves today to give some more light to the bud sites underneath. LST is making me wish I had gone with another bag of soil for this pot, as I had under filled it a little at the start. Did a bit more tying down throughout the last week. Overall going very well though. Starting to smell just a little too!
Lots of new bud sites coming in now. To encourage some stretching of new growth I raised the light up, and it's helping. I think most people would have switched to flower/bloom nutes right about now for an auto (if not earlier) but since she is a little behind I'm going to keep her on veg for now and see how she does this week. Hopefully she grows a lot this week and I can switch to bloom nutes. Still not much smell, just a little. Starting to tie down more branches as well for LST. Lookin good!!
Switched to FloraNova Bloom at the end of week 7 here and have the bloom lights on now too. The girl is really starting to get dense in the middle! I opted to defoliate a couple of fan leaves at the very bottom of the canopy that had no hope of getting any light so hopefully this plant will take the stress ok. Doing as much lead tucking as I can to expose lower bud sites. From what I have read, this strain tends to grow short and bushy, which she is, so I'm pretty excited I'm not a total failure yet!
Flowering coming along nicely. Even the stunted sister of the grow has shot up a bit. Pistils on the larger main girl starting to brown, and she is starting to get frosty. However, at the end of this week after the photos were taken, I gave them a watering with more FloraNova Bloom and I think I put too much in. Hopefully they will be OK. I guess you'll find out in next week's update!
Week 9 is in the books! It's been getting warmer outside and therefor also much warmer in my tent. Been having trouble controlling the heat and the plants have not been happy about it. I have installed an air conditioner for the room and it's better now. The vuds are fattening up. Not sure how much longer until harvest at this point, I find the trichomes tough to see properly.
So I definitely overfed the larger girl and she is showing signs of nutrient burn. I think she is also starting to yellow from losing nitrogen in flower too now. Shouldn't be too much longer. Unfortunately the nutrient stress slowed the bud growth considerably and I don't think my yields will be great but that's ok. I've learned a lot for my first grow. I just started the smaller girl back on bloom nutes but will continue with just pH'd water for the larger girl for a couple more days. I might not even give her any more nutes since it seems closer to harvest time anyway. I also have an AC going in the room to control the temp issues I was having and it is working well. Smelling sweet and skunky!
