This seedling was 7 weeks old and was intentionally kept small in a 12oz solo cup before I put her in the mix.
Her leaves are more sativa-like, which I like.
When I put her in I top dressed with EWC, MBP and neem. I coated the room with DE and watered with bti.
Week 1 doesn't show much. Slow growth as her roots spread. No problems though. Gnats are less than last round.
I don't think I'll be mulching in veg any longer either. I don't know if it's helping with the gnat problem... but something sure it.
I changed my mix up a little from last plant and it's been beneficial as growth is explosive in week 4/5 with zero deficiencies.
This time:
I changed my base mix from 3/3/3/1 coir/EWC/perlite/biochar to 4/3/3 coir/ewc/perlite (removed biochar from the base)
I increased my basalt, glacial, gypsum and OSF to .5 cups per cubic foot from .25
I added insect frass at .125 cups per cubic foot
I upped my MBP from .125 to .25 cups per cubic foot
I added DE at .0625 cups per cubic foot
I added .5 cups of biochar per gallon
I'll be upping the biochar to 4 cups a cubic foot and my basalt/glacial/gypsum/OSF to .75 cups per cubic foot for the next run. I'll also be changing my base mix to 6/2/2 coir/ewc/perlite.
Week 2 was nothing special.
Topped her mid week as I think 2 main branches will work perfect for the size and dimension of scrog screen I'll be using.
No problems. No great growth. Slow and steady for now.
Week 3 was when the growth really took off. After recovering from the topping she exploded. She likes this soil mix a lot so far. I will be adding supplemental CFL lighting to get the lower branches until I can get a nice flat canopy.
She's fully recovered from topping and growing fast. I added 26W of supplemental 5500K CFLs until her canopy is nice and flat and I can lower m LEDs.
Zero problems so far. Already smells a bit. This pheno may be a keeper. Time will tell.
I threw on quick screen (didn't have time to make a proper one yet) to keep her tamed.
FAAAAAST growth. She's really happy. She's going to fill the scrog screen before flower and I'll have to figure out how to get the light down as she stretches. I may need some optics or reflectors for my LEDs.
1st week of flower. Screen is completely filled. Zero deficiencies (unlike last grow) shows my soil is much better or this pheno is faster growing and more resilient.
I did my normal top dress with EWC, MBP and karanja meal under blumat drippers for introduction into flower... covered with straw mulch.
The screen was pretty much filled in the last day of veg. This grew significantly faster than her sister plant... pheno? soil? will find out when I grow out clones.
Already has a slight smell. Leaves are good and green. Pistils are poppin. Oh yeah.
Has had some nice stretch so far, seems to be at or near the end.
Some lower leaves are dropping, which is fine as I'm not trimming fan leaves.
Everything under the light looks great. Tight nodes, no signs of deficiencies.
I trimmed all buds that didn't get to the screen.
Some lower fans are yellowing, upper leaves all are nice and green and healthy.
Stretch has been good so far. Some smell.
Stretch seems to have ended. Fan leaves under the screen are dropping. I'm glad I didn't prune before flower as the nitrogen from those leaves was needed. More nutes (and maybe fish some hydrosulfate in veg) next run. Smell is much stronger than her sister and growth is faster.
Smelling up nicely. Buds are all formed and should be bulking up soon. This will be the last week under the 3500K lights. Next week she goes under the 3000K.
I could have added more nutes, but I'm much happier with this grow so far.
