WEEK 1
Day 1 12.30.2017
12 regular seeds
1 gal distilled water, 1/8tsp Superthrive, 1/4tsp Liquid Karma
Split the seeds into 2 groups of 6 and put the plastic cups on the router for warmth
Day 2
By the end of the day all 12 sank and started to split their shells.
Planted them in the seedling pots (50/50 coco/perlite) with 2 tsp of the solution and a sprinkle of Mycorrhiza. Set up a heating pad under a water tray and a humidity dome to maintain temperature and add some humidity. It's been in the single digits (F) and low teens here for over a week and the air is bone dry.
Day 3
Added about a tbsp of the germination solution to each pot and hung a fluorescent seedling lamp over the tray an on 18/6 timer
Day 4
Temp 72
Humidity 84 and holding under the dome
Waiting for the first shoots to show
Day 5
10 of 12 seedlings have popped. Gave another dose of the germination mixture and replaced the seedling lamp with 4 100W equivalent 6500K cfls. Temp 73 Humidity 74
Day 6
All 12 seedlings have popped. I think it speaks volumes about Dynasty Genetics quality … this seed packet had been in the refrigerator for almost a year. Added a 30% dilution of my Jack's 3-2-1 mixture to the remainder of the gallon of germination mixture.
Temp 73 Humidity 76
WEEK 2
01/06/2018
Day 8
Moved the water tray with the seedlings into the small early veg tent with 5000K Quantum boards.
Added some paper towel sections to help maintain the humidity and left the dome on the seedlings to give them a chance to adapt to the stronger light. Continued with the new nutrient mixture.
Day 9
Removed the humidity dome and continued with the same nutrient mixture.
Day 12
Seedlings are are doing well. Some size differences, but everything looks healthy
I've had to increase the nutrients to twice daily. The air is still very dry and it seems the roots are developing well and pulling moisture out of the coco as well.
WEEK 3
01/13/2018
Day 15
There was noticeable development during the course of the day today (see the AM/PM comparisons)
Increased the Jack's component of the nutrients to 50% of normal and added 1/4tsp of Botanicare Rhizo Blast for root development. Feeding twice daily now to keep the seedlings hydrated. the temp is remaining in the low to mid 70s during the day with humidity around 30%. Seedlings are 2+/- inches.
01/20/2018
Day 21
Looks like I've got at least 3 of the pheno types, but time will tell. The plants are all developing nicely … not much height gain so I'm hoping that all the energy is going into foliage and root development. No signs of deficiencies or excesses so fingers crossed. Probably repot into 1 or 2 gallon temporary fabric pots next week and move them to the new veg tent with the 4200K CMH light until I can sex them and put them in their final 4 gal hempy buckets.
WEEK 4
01/21/2018
Day 22
No changes in the nutrients, lights or “climate” today, but re-potting and re-homing to the new veg tent will most likely happen this week. As of this morning, the girls all look happy.
Day 23
Repotted the first of the seedlings to a 1 gal pot but I'm going to wait a couple of days before moving the rest to allow more root development.
Day 25
All the plants are in the 1 gal pots now and on a full strength (800ppm) Jack's 321 program. I'll keep an eye on them to make sure they tolerate the new regimen well.
Day 27
Better safe than sorry ... added a few gold cards for fungus gnats to make sure I have no issues. Didn't catch them early enough on my last grow and it was a huge pain.
Started topping above the 3rd node today ... need to let a few of them stretch a bit more to be able to get at the stem without compromising the node itself.
WEEK 5
01/27/2018
Day 29
Finished the first topping on the remaining plants so all 12 are now in true veg mode. As soon as I have room in the new 4x4 veg tent, I'll move them over and see how effective the 4200K CMH light will be. The 5000K Quantum boards in this 2x4 have been great, but I'm curious to see ow the CMH technology compares. I'm using a quantum meter to keep the umoles comparable.
WEEK 6
02/3/2018
Day 36
Still waiting to move them into the main veg tent. All 12 look lush and healthy. They're taking about 20 ounces of nutrients every other day.
Day 40
Flushed all of them with PH'd water today just to be on the safe side.
Finished the second topping on all the plants. Still too early to sex them but they're growing nicely.
WEEK 7
02/10/2018
Day 51
Finally, moving day. Finished the new flower tent so I could move things around and get these beauties into the new veg tent. I still need to redo the irrigation system to accommodate the 1 gal starter pots but a temporary “hose nozzle” will do just fine for now. For the first time I was able to really saturate the medium to flush out salt buildup and adjust ph. A couple of the plants … looks like pheno 4 … show some signs of Ca deficiency in older leaves leaves so I added some extra CalMg to the nutes in case it was an ongoing coco Ca issue. All new growth above the affected leaves look lush and healthy.
Day 54
They seem to really like the 4200K CMH spectrum. Even with the second topping, they've added 2+ inches this week. Now that I'm reclaiming the runoff to the reservoir, I'm adjusting for ppm and ph daily. Not much of a problem … about 200ppm and .3ph gain and decreasing daily. I don't have any data on the PHC's feeding habits so I'll just let them tell me what they want.
WEEK 8
02/17/2018
Day 56
Still hoping to get the 3rd topping and sexing done this week, but the plants have their own schedule. Did some light defoliation today … got rid of some lower growth that will never amount to anything and a bunch of the lower fan leaves. Once I can sex them I'll clone the females so I've left the lower branches I'd usually eliminate,
Day 59
Took some macro shots of what I THINK are pre flower indicators … as strange as it sounds I think I may end up with 12 females. If that's the case, my apologies to whoever got the seed pack that evens out the law of averages. Started adding a bit of Mommouth P today
WEEK 9
02/24/2018
Start of pre-flower
Day 67
Transplanted everything to the 4 gallon hempy buckets, finished the third toppings and gave all the buckets a good soaking with 800ppm Jack's with a bit of Cal/Mg added for the new coco. Still looks like they're all female but I'll know more once I switch to 12/12 in the flower tent. These are some of the lushest plants I've grown so far. Hat's off to the Professor.
Day 68
Moved all the ladies to the flower tent for their first dose of 12/12. I'm hopeful I'll be able to sex and clone them in 48 hours but time will tell.
WEEK 10
03/03/2018
pre-flower
Day 76
Broke my heart to do it but 8 of the 12 are out in the snow … after 3 days in 12/12 only 4 were female.
Looks like I've got 3 of the 4 phenos left but since I haven't grown these before I won't be sure until they stretch and I can see the bud structure. 2 of the plants are 23” and look very similar while the other 2 are 19” and quite different from the taller phenos and each other.
They've all had the lower growth defoliated and clones taken and they're lovin' the 3200K CMH but it's still a bit disappointing. This is my first regular seed grow so I suppose I'll get used to it. It's left me with a lot of tent real estate to fill so I've started some new seeds but I'll probably be harvesting these before they're ready to go into flower.
Day 71-77
pre-flower to flower
Day 76
Broke my heart to do it but 8 of the 12 are out in the snow … after 3 days in 12/12 only 4 were female.
Looks like I've got 3 of the 4 phenos left but since I haven't grown these before I won't be sure until they stretch and I can see the bud structure. 2 of the plants are 23” and look very similar while the other 2 are 19” and quite different from the taller phenos and each other.
Continuing to remove fans leaves and spread things out in the SCROG and all 4 are doing well. I have 3 of the 4 phenos ... including the mutant. Looks like lots of bud sites on all of them so fingers crossed.
WEEK 12
Day 78-84
Seems like things happen for a reason. The 4 survivors are completely filling the tent space I had available for the PHCs. The SCROG isn't proving sufficient to keep things under control so I'm supercropping and selectively defoliating to keep the growth energy concentrated where it will do the most good.
The mutant pheno is REALLY dense. It seems a bit slower to flower than other phenos but it's a mass of large broad leaves.
PHC seems to be a lighter feeder than some of the strains I've grown with Jack's 321 regimen. Drain to recovery under the initial 800ppm feedings raised the reservoir ppm levels by 200 to 250ppm so I've been adjusting levels downward until the return levels are less than 100ppm over the input. Ph however has been very stable holding at 5.9-6.0.
I was a bit skeptical about the CMH lights on light movers but the plants seem to really love it.
WEEK 13
Day 85-91
Defoliated the bottom of the plants to promote better top growth and air circulation.
Kept removing fan leaves from the top and center of the plants to allow better light penetration.
Bud development is progressing nice.
Day 91 … opened the tent to find the start of powdery mildew. I'll add another fan in the PHC section but for now I've turned up the exhaust fan and sprayed everything with an H²O² solution and relocated the external dehumidifier to be closer to the tent's air flow. If the increased air flow doesn't help I'll try leaving the tent open for part of the day to see of that helps with the humidity levels.
WEEK 14
Day 92-98
Day 92 started the new week with another H²O² spray for the PHC end of the tent … only 1 of the tall phenos seems have been effected but better safe than sorry. Humidity is down to the mid 40s from the upper 50s and between the spray and extensive fan leaf removal to promote air flow I'm hoping the problem has been contained.
On the positive side, buds are stacking nicely on all phenos
Added a 3rd 6” fan to the PHC side of tent and a bit more defoliation. Other than the minor bleaching from the H²O² the mildew seems to be done.
Day 96 … Damn … some more PM showed up … not a lot but enough for me to worry. More H²O² spray and more defoliation. These ladies certainly love to put out a lot of leaves!
Looks like about 3 weeks to harvest at this point. This is my first Dynasty grow and I'm psyched to try one of the professor's creations.
WEEK 15
Day 99-105
Still fighting a mild PM infestation but the 1.5% H²O² spray is working well and the bud development is looking really good. The professor posts a 7-8 week flower cycle so I'm hoping to see some amber trichs by the end of next week so I can start the flush.
Week 16
Day 99-105
Great trichome development on the buds and sugar leaves. Not many fans left due to the battle with PM and some of the leaves are burned from the H²O² spray but it looks like the war has been won. Having decent outside temperatures has helped since getting fresh air into the grow area has helped get the humidity down. There's some nice amber developing so I've started the flush. Probably get to harvest some time next week. Interesting to see the difference in bud structure across the 4 plants.
I'm going to have to take another shot at this strain. The powdery mildew is probably the cause of the low yield, which is a real pity since the smoke is VERY nice.
I'm guessing the 8/10 will be higher if I can keep the damn PM out of the equation
I'm guessing on the hybrid percentages, but the effect is definitely indica with a bit of a sativa lead in :)
