Week 7: Plant is doing well. Strong & tall...pruning large fan leaves now. Approximately 1/3 of large fan leaves have been removed. This strain is very sensitive to potassium over-fertilization in late blooming phase. Had to reduced bloom food by half - added veg nutrients to regain full green in larger leaves.
Plant is doing well as it nears harvest. Nuggs are frosty and firm, Very strong odor...diesel, earth tones, musky, dank. Plant showing purple tones, especially on the bottoms of the fan leaves. Purging the plant of all nutrients this week in preparation for harvest next week.
Purged plant of all nutrients for last seven days (clean water only). Many remaining fan leaves changed from yellow to purple. Plant does not respond well to heavy nutrient influx at the end of flowering. Next time will decrease the amount of nutrients going into the last few weeks. Some leaf tip burning was visible, but the nuggs were not harmed significantly during last few weeks. Very happy with this strain, and plant is currently upside down, and drying. Will give it seven days before trimming it off the plant for storage.
This was the first time that I tried growing this strain. Actually, I had tried to sprout three other times, and the shell on the seed strangled the tiny leaves, and they all died. I had one seed left, and this time I got a solid sprout.
The plant grew strong & fast during the first three weeks in the vegetation stage. At about two feet tall, I topped the plant to make it bush, and to try to increase the amount of branches for future nugs. The plant did well with topping, and threw off several benches after topping. This strain did start getting "leggy" between the nodes, growing fast and stretching for the light.I decided to "super-top" by cutting about 80% of the uppermost sprouting growth on each branch. The stems are very "woody", and grew straight up to the light. The plant filled out nicely at that point, and I cut the light for bloom phase about 4-5 weeks after starting the veg phase. The yield was very good for a single plant. This strain did not do well with heavy nutrients during the end of the bloom phase. Had some fan leaves turn yellow, and got some leaf tip burn during the last few weeks. The buds are mostly thumb sized, and there are lots of them. I was very pleased with the yield, and I have cloned a mother plant so I can do it again. Overall an east strain to grow that is forgiving of mistakes, and takes care of you on the back-end.
