Seeds started 7/15 sprouted 7/17. Have 6 seedlings but doing 4 plants, 2 kali and 2 juicy fruit. Going to affix little razor blades to their main colas and let them battle to the death. Last 4 alive move on.
Grow here is under a new set of lights. Have 2 sets of lights each with 3 qb96 v2 boards and 480 watts total. Pretty excited to see how those perform.
Moved to the medium on 7/22 7 days from seed. Top feeding and will start light nutrients tomorrow. Also sadly all of our contestants have not made it to this stage. We have 4 in medium, one dead, and one hanging on as an understudy in case something goes wrong.
I have one of these seedlings showing wrinkled and droopy leaves. Was guessing light or wind burn and adjusted accordingly. Ph 6.1 temp 76 and humidity at 60%. Ec 500 or so with some hard water. Any opinions on what might be causing this?
Having some wrinkly leaf issues still on one of the juicy fruits. Not sure that one is going to make it. Interestingly we are experimenting with 1 of each strain in net pots and one in fabric bags. The fabric is having more of an issue for both strains. Suspecting there might be root rot at play especially on the one that looks mummified. Added some hydroguard to the reservoir and will see if that helps.
Think I may have a calcium or magnesium deficiency on that mummy. A couple of necrotic spots that look like a calcium deficiency, but also a little chlorosis between the veins on some leaves (pictures don’t show it well).
Added 5ml calmag in the kali reservoir and 10ml in the juicy fruit. Both are about 20 gallons so relatively small amounts. Also bumping the temperature up a bit to something more appropriate for leds.
August 11 did a reservoir change as both were getting some algae. Looked like floating snot. Pretty gross. Keeping the reservoirs covered with panda film and added hydroguard. Let’s see if that helps.
August 13 topped a juicy fruit and a kali. Will top the other Kali tomorrow. That sick thing isn’t getting topped. Not sure what to do with it really.
Given the sad status of our mummy we added our fifth seedling that had been growing in soil at the window. My wife refused to give it up when we narrowed it down to 4 seeds so we washed the roots of and stuck it in with the others.
Also believe our mummy may have been due to ph issues. Compared our meter to a liquid ph test which implied the meter was off by at least 0.7 putting the water below the normal threshold. After recalibrating the meter and dropping tds a bit it does look better. Whether it yields is a different question.
Topped plants looking decent and recovering nicely.
Mummy isn’t really getting much better. Any yield at all on that one will be a win
Planning to flip the lights in 2 days.
Pretty much given up on the dwarf mummy plant thing and chalked it up to crappy genetics. The kalis both look good.
Lights now flipped.
Starting to see some pistils after flipping the lights 5 days ago. Can’t wait to see what those qb96 boards do in flower.
8 days post light flip changed reservoir to flowering nutes
Starting to see little buddlettes forming towards the end of the week.
Also feel like I’m losing the scrogging battle. The netting isn’t strong enough and the plants just push it out of the way.
Plants have been stretching pretty good and the buds are starting to fill out a little. Trichomes are pretty clear now too. They’ve been drinking a ton of water, but nutrient levels have been up pretty much every day so they are drinking more than they are eating. Cutting back on the tds to account for that.
Dropping nutrient levels again this week as I’m seeing burnt tips. Did a full res change on the Kali and will likely do the same for juicy fruit tomorrow as they are on separate res’s.
Flowers looking good though except for the mummy which will produce maybe an eight of larf if I’m lucky. Also took the scrog off as they seem to be done stretching and the netting was getting in the way.
Really happy with the fattening of the buds so far.
End of week update:
Dropping the ph a bit to see if that improves nutrient uptake. Also that Kali rescue plant is starting to kick ass. Probably has the best buds of all of them. Kind of cool considering it spent the first 3 weeks of its life in a Dixie cup by the window.
The juicy fruit has been disappointing as far as bud size. They just aren’t fattening like the critical Kali mist. They look dense just not getting any coke can sized buds out of them.
So sadly tragedy struck this week. The largest plant in the tent Hermied and I missed it. It completely pollinated itself and parts of 2 of the other girls. Ripped that dude wannabe out and made hash.
This has left a gaping hole in our grow room and our hearts. On the other hand shit happens and it could have been worse. I don’t think the collateral damage is that bad.
No new pics yet.
I think these have developed a phosphorus deficiency over the last 2 days. Leaves went purplish very quickly. Bumped the P levels last night. Hopefully that helps.
Those juicy fruit buds look like a bunch of cacti. It’s either foxtailing or some weird alien strain.
The juicy fruit is just weird. The foxtailing on those is so bad that some of them look like ghosts and mummy’s rather than buds. We think we can make a chess set out of them as some of them look like serviceable pawns.
The smaller CKM is getting close to chopping here. Tentatively planning on it in a couple days. Seeing some amber trichomes mixed in with milky. Other 2 have a bit longer but think they will be chopped by week 9.
Pretty close to done here. Juicy fruit chopped yesterday. This one is going soon. Been an interesting grow and lots of things learned that I’ll do a post mortem on later.
