Mother Hunt - Grow 5

This week I realized I've been overwatering (frequency not volume) I'm going to give this next week before flower and after this saturday's defoliation to adjust to a 1x feed schedule, I think it should be just fine being in 10 Gallon buckets. Huge Defo, let them recover til next Friday 8/15/20 then flip to 12/12, was feeding 2x but that's just too much, going to reset the coco a bit and refill tomorrow after I get the new drainage all sorted. Very excited to see what this will end up like! Absolutely loving how the clones are doing and just bought another veg300 for the two mothers that will be planted as soon as it gets here!

Had to really figure out my drainage this week, I kept having leaks and just KNEW there had to be a better solution, found an old diagram from @thebucketcompany and went shopping. I redid ALL of the plumbing for the flower room and veg tent, zero leaks! If you guys could comment something below I'm trying to follow more people!

Three days ago, 8/14 I defoliated all of the plants heavy toake sure they had a nice recovery period before flower. Three days later and the canopies are full again. This is my first time trellising and still waiting on my kit from the bucket company so this will have to do for now, really filled a bunch of squares, this is a 5x15 (pre trim) with 3" squares, nylon with 48" coated metal stakes.

Final light for my basement arrived this week so I finally get to transplant the mothers. I can't wait to run mono crops from here on out.

The plants look and feel incredible, I can't wait to do some serious supercropping later into this week. Follow along! This should be fun. Day 3 flower update: holy cow I love these plants, I am having a ton of growth and turned the optic 8s up to 100/50/25 and going to leave it here until 9/1 then switch to 100/60/50 and see how they react. Clones got cleaned out today to a buddy so we can further a couple other strains, the Chempie cuts were exquisite. Side note a little bit of nutrient burn noticed on main girl ZKWC but not anything to stress about, washing machine mother does not seem to mind a higher EC feed. The last few weeks have been a 30 second watering once a day. As of today 8/23 I am switching to 5/5/2.5/2.5 ml/g for BasisA/BasisB/StartR/Calimagic. I am obviously not an expert grower, just a guy trying to grow some beautiful big fat flowers. Take my advice with a grain of salt but feel free to lurk and watch the results! So day 4 of flower I was contemplating what my goal for this grow is, and I settled on schwazzing this grow, I did it with my first photo grow in Hydro and had awesome success on all but two plants (weaker blue dream phenos did not respond well and I had all kinds of feeding issues not entirely sure they would've made it without the schwaz either but anyways...) So yeah we're gonna try it out. Plants are bouncing back quickly from everything, I supercropping a ton to really spread the plant out and I'll be throwing a trellis back up after they have a chance to reach.

Taking a bit longer than expected for pistils development to happen but I'm hopeful it'll be any day now, I think between schwazzing a few days late and underfeeding them I caused a bit too much for them to launch like they could have, live and learn. Tried to see how long pls to could go without a feeding, turns out it's about 24 hours in the flower room. Gonna keep testing stuff but they seem headed back on track. Water pure coco daily. They are starting to thrive again, other than my fricken OMG and Zombie Kush (bad phenotpyes) but they are really just there for fun at this point. Week two saw some decent stretch, definitely need to figure out a better nutrient schedule going forward, recently bought some Veg/Bloom line up so I'm excited to see how powder nutrients go. So a lil update, I'm not editing any of the comments just adding addendums below, so for this one, I'm back to 2x daily watering for the flower room and daily for the veg room, 1.5g each feeding for all plants, as of 9/9/20 I've switched to Veg/Bloom lineup from Hydro Research and can't wait to see how it goes. The zombie kush and OMG are breaking my heart but I'm hopeful after defoliation this Friday and the new nutrient regimen they will be some happy girls. I very well may have just been severely underfeeding but that doesn't make sense since the big plants are doing so great, so I'm not really sure what the hell they want, also don't really care since we're focused on the two plants that have produced heirs. Week two had a lot going on, schwazz tomorrow on all of them and get rid of any smaller branches, should look quite a bit different on tomorrow's post.

All of week three is actually on week two, my bad. So just gonna fast forward to start of week 4.

Switched to Hydroponic Research Veg Bloom with Life and Shine custom ratios adding cal mag and back to only feeding once per day, pots are staying too saturated with 2x but it was worth a shot. Most of the damage on leaves is from wind burn, the leaves curl I'm to protect and end up decaying and showing signs that appear to be deficiencies or toxicities. Excited to see how the girls handle the schwazz this week. 11 out of 15 are cleaned up, Lollipopped and schwazzed, I'll get the last four tomorrow night, the rest are looking great, I can't wait for them to fatten up. 9/12 day 22 of flower all plants are cleaned up, right side back 4 had no lollipopping just defoliation of medium and large fan leaves, my trellising sucks on the right a bit but we will see how it goes, not a fan of this PVC it is not nearly rigid enough for my liking. All plants are showing pistils except the Purple Punch x FaceOff it's taking forever to flower but honestly it has had a rough life, just a terrible pheno. The plants I'm closely monitoring are all looking excellent and seem to love the switch in nutrients, if anyone wants my exact feed schedule let me know! This week went well and some clones rooted! So that's exciting. Stay tuned for week 5!

Start of week 5, the smaller plants are taking forever to uptake the water I think that's really caused some stunting 🙁 anyways just gonna let them dry off and refill, see what happens. All of the big girls are looking nice and being fed daily. Clones have started showing some beautiful roots and I can't wait to run a full batch of clones in here. Yeah so it's 9/21 last night I checked all of the clones and 100% have fat white roots popping out the bottom of the Root riot cube so I guess it worked, I filled some one gal pots today and got them all transplanted. 9/24 all clones are looking good, LSD is thriving in the flower room, smells amazing and sticky as can be, seems like stretching is over.

Working on watering schedule, watering two times a day early on really messed some of these girls up and they were not ready. They all seem to be progressing deeper into flower fine now that I've gotten their schedules back on track, another week or so and should start seeing some nice development.

Smaller phenos are swelling up a bit but hella unhappy, not really worried about them, just gonna turn them into rosin. The washing machine plant looks and smells amazing and is loving the feed, and that's the only plant that I'm really fine tuning for, just schedule changes on the rest of them. Last week of full nutes before switching to just VegPlusBloom Shine only pH'd solution. Gonna let them get a good amber going before chop and let the clones get ready to pop right into flower

Bleh just letting these finish out while the rest of the plants are growing, washing machine and LSD look great, all of the buds in here are nice and dense, should be some good smoke to hold over until the monocrop comes in. This week was alright, this trellis setup is really not great with this bucket layout, I'll be staking the next run to help keep stuff clean and tidy.

The flowers are smelling great and just fattening, chopped a branch of LSD off the bottom and quick dried it in my food dehydrator at 165* for 45 mins then flip the nug and 45 more minutes, gives you a bowl ready nug that burns smooth and tastes great. For emergency use only though I'm sure it's not great for the material lol.

This grow did exactly what I wanted it to, I found an awesome mother after a ton of trial and error and developed an entire different plan for growing, all good things and I'm sure my patients will love this medicine. Some plants did not like the full strip and they were way overwatered early in flower, check out my other diaries to see improvement, I'll post some harvest pics tomorrow, I dry trim and hang in baskets, this should be a bunch of nice nugs but nothing crazy outside the washing machine and some of the zombie cake phenos smell amazing. Right from the bat this strain was awesome, I would recommend potting up these plants or just keeping in a smaller container, they really really like to be in a small pot. I have another clone of the big pheno in flower now in a 1gal with coco and she is taking off like crazy.

Chempie was great, absolute workhorse in veg and finished at over what I'm gonna guess is 7oz dry per plant using the 25% rule.

LSD was great, no issues at all the entire grow, topped, supercropped, trellised, stripped and stripped some more and all she did was pack it on. Great strain.

This was the mom I wanted, so happy with everything about to this plant, bud structure, trichome production, stress responses, nutrient uptake, vegetative growth, flower stretch and bud density are all ideal, I will have clones available for people to try it out soon!!
