Increased light intensity from 75 PPFD to 102 PPFD as plants showing they’ve started pushing roots. Might veg for another week instead of the planned 14days.
Struggling to maintain humidity over 50% so I added an open dish of water in front of the in-flow fans.
Decided to clean up the side shoots below 10cm to push growth into main grow tips. Not keen on bushy plants at this density of 25plants per sqm.
Will switch nutrients next week and re-pot into 3liter bags in a few days.
26/12/2020 - Transplanted into 3.5L plant bags. Roots were almost too much for the 1L starting pots.
Transplanted the ladies into final 3.5l pots. Took a day of strain so I dropped the light intensity to 15% for a day or two. Now back at 25%
18h DLI - 20
Will flip to 12/12 next week and adjust intensity to a 12h DLI - 25
Added two USB fans to move air as temps were increasing over 30°C; this worked well as temps stabilized at 27° DT and 24° NT. RH also increased from 34% to 45% DT and 64% NT.
I started reducing light schedule by 2hrs per day. Will be at 12/12 in 2 days.
Keeping the lights at 30cm above canopy; DLI increased from 20 to 25; will adjust next week to a DLI of 35 after 3 days of transition. Definitely pre-flowering
Canopy is now full so did a light bottom defoliation. Day 5/63 in flower. Plants are looking super healthy. I’ve been removing any side shoots that appear on the laterals.
Not sure if leaving 3-4side branches will dilute the yield as this strain is known for its single large cola. Time will tell. Given they are in a 1gal / 3.6L bag, I’m hoping they have the juice. The side branches are all heading upwards and plants aren’t taking strain.
They’ve started looking for more water so will add a cycle (fresh water only) between feeds.
15/01/2021 - Battling with RH over 60%. I don’t have a dehumidifier and ambient RH is weirdly high. Have opened the door, plants seem happy 🤷♂️🏻
17/01/2021 - day 9/63 flowering is off the charts !!!!
Had a few issues with a light thrips infection. Cured that quickly with two organic thrips sprays.
Buds are fattening daily. And plants are starting to all reach through the screen.
I’ve been tucking under the big fan leaves and moving lower flower sites to openings. Light penetration is at 70% of canopy PPFD 675 at canopy.
This strain is showing a little nitrogen toxicity so have dialed back the N-nutrients but keeping the Bloom and micro as per the schedule.
Now at day 20/65 in flower. All the buds above the screen are swelling and growing.
I adjusted the height from 10cm above tops to 20cm and the plants added another 6cm in length. The side branches are still stretching upwards.
I increased the light intensity slowly over the past week from 60% to 100%. Now at 950ppfd at the mid point between the tops and the screen.
No stress and leaves are still cool.
Leaf temp 24.9° ; Ambient 26°
They are starting to smell.
Seems this strain is a light feeder wrt Nitrogen, so I’ve reduced the Grow nutrients below recommended schedule levels - schedule says 18ml/10L - I’m at 15ml/10L.
Had some really warm days and with no chiller, I had to open the door to control temps and Humidity.
Some flowers pistils turning brown but I’m seeing the next flush.
PPFD at top of the plants is over 1000;
PPFD at screen is over 700 - lights are amazing!!!
Did some more strategic defoliation of lower leaves, under the screen and those that are shading budsites above the screen.
I’m dropping the feeding schedule as some leaf tips showing slight burn. I raised the lights for 3days to reduce stress. 30 days to go until the chop. Really sticky and sweet smelling but strong.
All the buds are swelling fast, even the lower ones.
Holding thumbs the high humidity doesn’t present problems. I’ve added an extra fan but the outside air is muggy so without a dehumidifier, I’m a little constrained.
With just 15days to go, I’m starting their stress. Did a final defoliation and noticed their water uptake dropped slightly. Upping their nutes past the recommended and seeing leaf spots and slight burn. Trichomes are almost 100%milky, buds getting fatter.
Was out of town for a few days, but no major issues. Starting to ramp up the nutes 10% over schedule. Next week will go 15% and then I’m anticipating cutting this time next week. Trichomes are starting to show amber. Might do a top cola harvest and leave bottom buds for another week to mature.
The plant has a spindly structure so definitely needs a screen.
Requires high light intensity to make sense buds.
Needs at least 2-3 weeks veg when starting with clones.
This strain took a real beating and passed with flying colors. Endured high-ish temps (30°C); fluctuating RH’s 41%-74%; nutrient abuse and high light intensities (52 DLI during last 3 weeks of flower)- yet yielded impressively. I was very pleased
