Getting started for summer outdoor grow. Super excited about this strain... got it as a prize for the PK photos :-) Got them going now so we have time for topping and mainlining before hardening off in the first week of May. At Day 3 we are 4/5 germination rate.
Four seeds sprouted and are looking nice and strong. The grow room is back in operation and the temp and lights are on spec, but the RH is low. I had to order new wicks for my humidifier and they can't get here soon enough!
This week went very well. I was able to correct the RH which was previously waaay too dry. I'll be starting nutrients this week... and then we'll be ready to do the first top and clone. Stay tuned! I didn't get photos of the first transplant, but I put one into a bigger pot this morning. I have to find a new home for one of these babies.. I don't have enough plots for all three this summer. I might ask a friend to be a surrogate for me :D Then we can share the harvest in the fall.
These plants are growing nicely, in spite of some leaf damage in the early nodes. Took longer than I thought to sort out the RH in the room. Also, I'm not sure if the soil is a good choice for these. I'm not too worried though because they are going outside in a few short weeks... and that's when things get easy :-)
I topped the plants this week and cloned the growth tips. It's always fun to see which clones will take and which will not. My success rate is not high... but I don't put much energy into it. I already have more plants than I can handle.
I'll start nutrients next week.
The plants are topped and mainlined now. There are just a few weeks left before they go outdoors! So exciting. It can't be too soon because the roots are already looking for more space.
These are the seeds I won from Crop King Seeds... my favourite seed company. Check out these retarded plants! Well over 8 feet tall and just a wide around.
The moment we have all been waiting for... the summer outdoor flowering photos... enjoy :)
Started the season off with a difficult start... I put them outdoors while the says were still too short. The plants all started to follower, but then as the solstice approached they all converted back into veg and grew like crazy. I was sure my entire grow was fukd...
Now we are well into August which is solid flowering for Ontario growers in zone 5.
This variety is maturing slowly. I have two plants in the garden and they are hardly finished stretching. They are also the biggest plants in the garden. I am expecting that they will be the last for harvest, and it will be a close call to see if they are done before winter comes. My fingers are crossed! I'm finding a lot of powdery mildew in the garden, but these ladies seem to be immune so far. These are the seeds I won from one of the photo contests last fall :-) I'm really excited to try this new strain.
These ladies are taking their sweet time. The flowers are hardly developed at all and they have hardly matured at all this week. This is looking more and more like a November harvest which is about as late as we can do here in Ontario.
But the plants are insane tree bushes. I don't really know what to say. Only time will tell.
We have two plants and both are humongous.
I hope we have time to ripen before winter.
That is all.
These ladies are monstrous, but they are REALLY immature. I'm a bit worried we won't get ripe flowers before winter comes. I'm keen for these to turn out, though, cuz the variety description sounds really cool.
Slow and steady wins the race. The flowers are starting to mature. We still have a long way to go though. This will be interesting once those flowers start to fatten up.
Its a long slow flowering process for this Crown Royal... it probably has something to do with the fact that she flowered and revegged early in the spring. Its cutting it close... but I think I will get a harvest before winter LOL
