taking off more than 1/3rd of plant can potentially stunt it, but not always. Someplants stretch a ton after flip, and some do not. so, your familiarity and a some educated guessing can help guess as to what happened.
did it stop growing? are the nodes too tight at top (this context would be light-related if it stopped vertical growth)?

i regularly prune off a shit ton without any stunting of growth... whether it is mother plants i prun back to lowest growth tip per branch or a heavy removal of lower / weaker growth 10-14 days into flower. Yet to have a problem, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. anecdotes are not good evidence, so take it as a grain of salt. Usually for me if a plant slows vertically it's either just genetics (with normal growth patterns relative to bushy vs lanky phenotype) or my lights needed to be raised an inch or two.
